Today's Constitutional Court judgment has huge implications for government. But it has also effectively clipped the wings of the private company, CPS, that is the administrator of the payment of social grants and is obliged to be for the next twelve months.
CPS had wanted to increase its fee to continue its service.
But the court has declared that CPS should continue on the terms of an old contract and not charge more unless it provides Treasury with a good reason for an adjustment, which must then be condoned by the court. Well the scrutiny of the last month has highlighted concerns around the practices of CPSs parent company Net 1 that has been offering other services to grant beneficiaries, and of course, this is made easier by its access to their contact information. Investment firm Allan Gray is a large local shareholder in Net1, owning more than 15% of the company on behalf of clients.

This is the published (1947) piano arrangement of some music from Gray's score to the Powell & Pressburger 1946 movie of the same name (released in the USA as 'A Matter of Life and Death'). After the introduction is a section with a steady moving bass - this is the 'escalator theme', which depicts an escalator linking the Earth to the afterlife in the movie!
'Allan Gray' was the stage name of Józef Żmigrod, a Polish composition pupil (in Berlin) of Arnold Schoenberg. He moved to Britain around 1936 to escape Nazi restrictions on his work, and established a career in the UK as a film music composer. According to the Wikipedia article on him Żmigrod took up his stage name to avoid the disapproval of Schoenberg for his music for German stage productions!

Today's Constitutional Court judgment has huge implications for government.
