Galileo Galilei (Italian pronunciation: [ɡaliˈlɛːo ɡaliˈlɛi]; 15 February 1564 – 8 January 1642), was an Italian astronomer, physicist, engineer, philosopher, and mathematician who played a major role in the scientific revolution during the Renaissance. Galileo has been called the "father of observational astronomy", the "father of modern physics", and the "father of science". His contributions to observational astronomy include the telescopic confirmation of the phases of Venus, the discovery of the four largest satellites of Jupiter (named the Galilean moons in his honour), and the observation and analysis of sunspots. Galileo also worked in applied science and technology, inventing an improved military compass and other instruments.
Galileo's championing of heliocentrism and Copernicanism was controversial within his lifetime, when most subscribed to either geocentrism or the Tychonic system. He met with opposition from astronomers, who doubted heliocentrism due to the absence of an observed stellar parallax. The matter was investigated by the Roman Inquisition in 1615, and they concluded that it could only be supported as a possibility, not as an established fact. Galileo later defended his views in Dialogue Concerning the Two Chief World Systems, which appeared to attack Pope Urban VIII and thus alienated him and the Jesuits, who had both supported Galileo up until this point. He was tried by the Inquisition, found "vehemently suspect of heresy", forced to recant, and spent the rest of his life under house arrest. It was while Galileo was under house arrest that he wrote one of his finest works, Two New Sciences. Here he summarized the work he had done some forty years earlier, on the two sciences now called kinematics and strength of materials.

Plot: Galileo Galilei is one of the most renowned thinkers in the history of science and a highly emblematic figure of the 17th century. This was the era when modern science emerged. This documentary narrates the life of a man who turned his telescope towards the heavens and observed things that no one had seen before. His observations, experiments and mathematics paved a new method for the study of nature. However, the basic argument of this documentary is that Galileo succeeded not only because of his philosophical and mathematical achievements, but also because of his carefully chosen alliances. One of the defining characteristics of Florentine society throughout the centuries was a deeply-rooted system of patronage networks. Galileo benefited from these networks as he secured the patronage of Cosimo II de Medici, Grand Duke of Tuscan, and constructed for himself a novel social and professional identity. As his fame and recognition grew, Galileo had intense confrontations with the philosophers in matters such as buoyancy, motion, free fall and some of his observations (the sun spots). The Aristotelian philosophers argued that all these were matters of philosophy, not mathematics. They never accepted Galileo as a natural philosopher because philosophers held a higher professional position than mathematicians. In the face of Galileo they saw a mathematician who tried to remove their philosophical status, exploiting the professional benefits arising from the title that Cosimo gave him. Through these confrontations and political pressure the Aristotelians forced the Catholic Church to judge the work of Galileo. The trial and conviction of Galileo was the outcome of exhausting social and political battles and not the result of an opposition between science and religion. The devout Catholic Galileo never wanted to replace the Bible and the Scriptures with a new science (after all, science did not exist at that time). However, Galileo was forced to kneel inside the church of Maria Sopra Minerva and repudiate the work and views of a lifetime. This documentary tells the story of a man who never retreated and had the persistence and courage to vindicate his intellectual identity.

Plot: This bio-pic is about Galileo, the 17th century Italian who laid the foundations of modern science. Galileo made himself one of the world's first telescopes and discovered the moons of Jupiter. He supported Copernicus' theory that the Earth revolved around the Sun. This brought him in conflict with the Catholic Church. By threatening him with torture, the Church forced him to recant his views in front of a tribunal, and sentenced him to house arrest. However, Galileo's trials and theories inspired others like Newton and Kepler to prove that the Earth was not the centre of the Universe. Some years ago, the Pope accepted that Earth does revolve around the Sun and issued a rare apology for what the Church had done to Galileo, i.e., the Catholic Church recanted!

Galileo Galilei Galileo Galilei, the father of science, was born in Pisa, ltaly in February 1564. No one thought that the boy who was born in a poor family running a dry goods store would be a great scientist in future. He received a lot of help and support from Professor Ritch, who also recommended him for a position as professor at the University of Pisa so that he could continue his research. Galilei became a professor, but he was hated by was hated by many people in the university, Because he criticized Aristotle's teachings, which were sanctified then. Bucause of his criticism, he was called and warned by the dean. "Aristotle was a scholar 2,000 Years ago." "I'll prove that all his theories are not true." Galilei performed an experiment in the Leaning Tower of Pisa in order to prove t...
This book takes its origin in a course of lectures on the history and progress of Astronomy arranged for Sir Oliver Lodge in the year 1887. The first part of this book is devoted to the biographies and discoveries of well known astronomers like Copernicus, Brahe, Kepler, Galileo and Newton. In the second part, the biographies take a back seat, while scientific discoveries are discussed more extensively, like the discovery of Asteroids and Neptune, a treatise on the tides and others. Although a book for students and amateurs - of which there are very many in the world - the depth of treatment is considerable. "The historical chapters form a fine introduction to the eventual description of contemporary astronomy with its own excitement and puzzles.

Oh, please don't go, oh no please don't go, oh
No please don't go, oh you're breaking my heart again
How long's, so long, who can tell me
Where I've been wrong, very rightly
So long's, too long I'll be on my own again
How fair's farewell and fair to who?
No one can tell, to tell the truth
Still as it stands, I'm back on my own again, oh
You're all I know, no story
You're all I know, please don't worry
Don't want no, don't worry baby, oh don't cry no more
How fair's farewell and fair to who?
No one can tell, to tell the truth
Stare in the sands, I'm back on my own again
So please don't go, oh no please don't go, oh
No please don't go, oh you're breaking my heart again
You're all I know, no story
You're all I know, please don't worry
Don't want no, want no
Oh yeah, don't you want me
I'll try to find [Incomprehensible]
Too late to find, no one is with me
Long gone I'm back on my own again
Whoa, please don't go
No please don't go, no please don't go
