SPANISH FORT, Ala. (WPMI) One local neighborhood says it is fed up with builder D.R. Horton. Homeowners in Grace Magnolias off Highway 31 near Spanish Fort say the company isn't addressing their safety concerns. Now, several people have put signs in their yard that say, "Based on my experience I wound not purchase a D.R. Horton Home!" "Potentially, there are going to be more of these signs than there are for sale signs," said Nicole Thompson. Thompson says she unintentionally bought water front property. "My yard is always a marsh," said Thompson. Next door at Kevin Wood's home, his yard stays soggy also. Wood says last month a project manager with D.R. Horton dug a hole to investigate the water issue. Wood says, the project manager told him he had a problem, but yet, nothing's been done to fix it. "I'm scared it may be a sink hole. There's little children running around here," said Wood. Down the street, Kristy Bush says one month after she moved in raw sewage backed up in both her bathrooms. "The tub and the shower, and the other tub in the other bathroom were like half way full of sewage," said Bush. Since then, she says she's had a/c problems, water seeping into her garage, and now her patio ceiling is warping. While the issues vary from homeowner to homeowner, all have the same complaint. "They ignore me," said Wood. "As a customer, it's just a lack of respect." And that's why they say they're putting up the signs, to warn other potential buyers. Local 15 News called the local D.R. Horton office Monday afternoon for a response. No one returned the call.

I wanted to give you an honest review of DR Horton Tampa, my experiences with them, and what you need look out for.
As an experienced realtor that's helped 1,000's of home buyers and sold 100's of new construction homes, I can honestly say that DR Horton is just mediocre at best. I'm not saying that they're too bad, but they're a major volume builder... Therefore they're going to be cutting corners somewhere. So knowing which corners they cut and how they cut them is important. DR Horton has some nice homes, but when you deal with a volume builder such as this one, its difficult to overcome some hurdles.
I would strongly advise every buyer to hire an experienced and knowledgeable realtor that knows how the builders work and know their representatives. They need to not only explain the entire building process to the new home buyers, but to get them a much better deal than the buyers can get on their own.
Of course I can get a better deal from DR Horton in Tampa than a buyer would on their own because I've made DR Horton hundreds of thousands of dollars every year & they want to work with me.

R. Horton (Gloucestershire cricketer)
R. Horton (full name and dates of birth and death unknown) was an English cricketer. Horton's batting style is unknown, but it is known he was a slow left-arm orthodox bowler.
Horton made his first-class debut for Gloucestershire against Lancashire in 1925. He made two further first-class appearancees, both in 1925, against Nottinghamshire and Leicestershire. In his three first-class matches, he scored 13 runs at an average of 4.33, with a high score of 7. With the ball, he took just a single wicket.

SPANISH FORT, Ala. (WPMI) One local neighborhood says it is fed up with builder D.R. Horton. Homeowners in Grace Magnolias off Highway 31 near Spanish Fort say the company isn't addressing their safety concerns. Now, several people have put signs in their yard that say, "Based on my experience I wound not purchase a D.R. Horton Home!" "Potentially, there are going to be more of these signs than there are for sale signs," said Nicole Thompson. Thompson says she unintentionally bought water front property. "My yard is always a marsh," said Thompson. Next door at Kevin Wood's home, his yard stays soggy also. Wood says last month a project manager with D.R. Horton dug a hole to investigate the water issue. Wood says, the project manager told him he had a problem, but yet, nothing's been done to fix it. "I'm scared it may be a sink hole. There's little children running around here," said Wood. Down the street, Kristy Bush says one month after she moved in raw sewage backed up in both her bathrooms. "The tub and the shower, and the other tub in the other bathroom were like half way full of sewage," said Bush. Since then, she says she's had a/c problems, water seeping into her garage, and now her patio ceiling is warping. While the issues vary from homeowner to homeowner, all have the same complaint. "They ignore me," said Wood. "As a customer, it's just a lack of respect." And that's why they say they're putting up the signs, to warn other potential buyers. Local 15 News called the local D.R. Horton office Monday afternoon for a response. No one returned the call.

I wanted to give you an honest review of DR Horton Tampa, my experiences with them, and what you need look out for.
As an experienced realtor that's helped 1,000's of home buyers and sold 100's of new construction homes, I can honestly say that DR Horton is just mediocre at best. I'm not saying that they're too bad, but they're a major volume builder... Therefore they're going to be cutting corners somewhere. So knowing which corners they cut and how they cut them is important. DR Horton has some nice homes, but when you deal with a volume builder such as this one, its difficult to overcome some hurdles.
I would strongly advise every buyer to hire an experienced and knowledgeable realtor that knows how the builders work and know their representatives. They need to not only explain the entire building process to the new home buyers, but to get them a much better deal than the buyers can get on their own.
Of course I can get a better deal from DR Horton in Tampa than a buyer would on their own because I've made DR Horton hundreds of thousands of dollars every year & they want to work with me.

Homeowners in Grace Magnolias off Highway 31 near Spanish Fort say the company isn't addressing their safety concerns. Now, several people have put signs in their yard that say, "Based on my experience I wound not purchase a D.R. Horton Home!" "Potentially, there are going to be more of these signs than there are for sale signs," said Nicole Thompson. Thompson says she unintentionally bought water front property. "My yard is always a marsh," said Thompson. Next door at Kevin Wood's home, his yard stays soggy also. Wood says last month a project manager with D.R. Horton dug a hole to investigate the water issue. Wood says, the project manager told him he had a problem, but yet, nothing's been done to fix it. "I'm scared it may be a sink hole. There's little children running around here," said Wood. Down the street, Kristy Bush says one month after she moved in raw sewage backed up in both her bathrooms. "The tub and the shower, and the other tub in the other bathroom were like half way full of sewage," said Bush. Since then, she says she's had a/c problems, water seeping into her garage, and now her patio ceiling is warping. While the issues vary from homeowner to homeowner, all have the same complaint. "They ignore me," said Wood. "As a customer, it's just a lack of respect." And that's why they say they're putting up the signs, to warn other potential buyers. Local 15 News called the local D.R. Horton office Monday afternoon for a response. No one returned the call.

I wanted to give you an honest review of DR Horton Tampa, my experiences with them, and what you need look out for.
As an experienced realtor that's helped 1,000's of home buyers and sold 100's of new construction homes, I can honestly say that DR Horton is just mediocre at best. I'm not saying that they're too bad, but they're a major volume builder... Therefore they're going to be cutting corners somewhere. So knowing which corners they cut and how they cut them is important. DR Horton has some nice homes, but when you deal with a volume builder such as this one, its difficult to overcome some hurdles.
I would strongly advise every buyer to hire an experienced and knowledgeable realtor that knows how the builders work and know their representatives. They need to not only explain the entire building process to the new home buyers, but to get them a much better deal than the buyers can get on their own.
Of course I can get a better deal from DR Horton in Tampa than a buyer would on their own because I've made DR Horton hundreds of thousands of dollars every year & they want to work with me.

Challengers of the 11,750-home Ho'opili community proposed for prime farmland in Ewa began their main assault on the plan Thursday, trying to undermine a case developer D.R. Horton has made for building the $4.6 billion project.
Eight expert witnesses primarily in fields related to agriculture testified before the state Land Use Commission, countering several key positions taken by Horton experts in earlier hearings.
The testimony presented Thursday represented the first offensive salvo from three entities — the Sierra Club's Hawaii chapter, community group Friends of Makakilo and state Sen. Clayton Hee — contesting Ho'opili before the commission.
One major issue attacked was whether comparable replacement land is available on Oahu that can be farmed to make up for the loss of crops — mainly vegetables — presently grown on the 1,554-acre site.
Leon Sollenberger, a farm service provider who has tilled fields all over Oahu, said the dry and sunny climate of the Ho'opili site, combined with its flat topography, abundant water supply and proximity to the island's main consumer market, makes it irreplaceable.
"We only get one time to destroy it," he said. "Once it's gone, it's gone."
Sollenberger countered testimony of Bruce Plasch, an agricultural economics analyst retained by Horton, who said plenty of fallow farmland exists to offset what is displaced by Ho'opili.
Plasch's conclusion that urbanizing the Ho'opili site would have no adverse impact on agriculture also was criticized by Linda Cox, a community economic development specialist with the University of Hawaii's College of Tropical Agriculture and Human Resources.

Leon Sollenberger, a farm service provider who has tilled fields all over Oahu, said the dry and sunny climate of the Ho'opili site, combined with its flat topography, abundant water supply and proximity to the island's main consumer market, makes it irreplaceable.
"We only get one time to destroy it," he said. "Once it's gone, it's gone."
Sollenberger countered testimony of Bruce Plasch, an agricultural economics analyst retained by Horton, who said plenty of fallow farmland exists to offset what is displaced by Ho'opili.
Plasch's conclusion that urbanizing the Ho'opili site would have no adverse impact on agriculture also was criticized by Linda Cox, a community economic development specialist with the University of Hawaii's College of Tropical Agriculture and Human Resources.
