Marcus Annaeus Lucanus (November 3, 39 AD – April 30, 65 AD), better known in English as Lucan (/ˈluːkən/), was a Roman poet, born in Corduba (modern-day Córdoba), in the Hispania Baetica. Despite his short life, he is regarded as one of the outstanding figures of the Imperial Latin period. His youth and speed of composition set him apart from other poets.
Three brief ancient accounts allow for the reconstruction of a modest biography – the earliest attributed to Suetonius, another to an otherwise unknown Vacca, and the third anonymous and undated – along with references in Martial, Cassius Dio, Tacitus's Annals, and one of Statius's Silvae. Lucan was the son of Marcus Annaeus Mela and grandson of Seneca the Elder; he grew up under the tutelage of his uncle Seneca the Younger. Born into a wealthy family, he studied rhetoric at Athens and was probably provided with a philosophical and Stoic education by his uncle.
He found success under Nero, became one of the emperor's close friends and was rewarded with a quaestorship in advance of the legal age. In 60 AD, he won a prize for extemporizing Orpheus and Laudes Neronis at the quinquennial Neronia, and was again rewarded when the emperor appointed him to the augurate. During this time he circulated the first three books of his epic poem, Pharsalia (labelled De Bello civili in the manuscripts), which told the story of the civil war between Julius Caesar and Pompey.
Richard John Bingham, 7th Earl of Lucan (born 18 December 1934), commonly known as Lord Lucan, was a British peer suspected of murder who disappeared in 1974. He was born into an Anglo-Irish aristocratic family in Marylebone, the eldest son of the 6th Earl of Lucan by his marriage to Kaitlin Dawson. An evacuee during the Second World War, Lucan returned to attend Eton College, and then from 1953 to 1955 served with the Coldstream Guards in West Germany. He developed a taste for gambling and, skilled at backgammon and bridge, became an early member of the Clermont Club. Although his losses often exceeded his winnings, he left his job at a London-based merchant bank and became a professional gambler. He was known as Lord Bingham from April 1949 until January 1964.
Once considered for the role of James Bond, Lucan was a charismatic man with expensive tastes; he raced power boats and drove an Aston Martin. In 1963 he married Veronica Duncan, with whom he had three children. When the marriage collapsed late in 1972, he moved out of the family home at 46 Lower Belgrave Street, in London's Belgravia, to a property nearby. A bitter custody battle ensued, which Lucan lost. He began to spy on his wife and record their telephone conversations, apparently obsessed with regaining custody of the children. This fixation, combined with his gambling losses, had a dramatic effect on his life and personal finances.
Thames News was the flagship regional news programme of Thames Television, serving the Thames ITV region and broadcast on weekdays from 12 September 1977 to 31 December 1992.
The news service was produced and broadcast from Thames TV's headquarters at Euston Road in north-west London and, during its last few years in operation, from district newsrooms in Dartford in Kent, Guildford in Surrey and Watford in Hertfordshire.
Prior to Thames News, the station opted not to provide a conventional local news service in spite of requests from the Independent Television Authority to improve on Rediffusion's scant levels of regional output. Instead, Thames produced Today, a local magazine show presented chiefly on alternating nights by Eamonn Andrews and Bill Grundy. The programme was axed in the summer of 1977, several months after Grundy's infamous on-air interview with The Sex Pistols.
Today was replaced on Monday, 12 September 1977 by Thames at Six, a more conventional news magazine programme, presented by former ITN newscaster Andrew Gardner. The following year saw Thames establish a full strength newsroom, enabling daily coverage of London-specific news for the first time in ITV's history. A lunchtime Thames News bulletin was launched on Tuesday, 5 September 1978 – a late night bulletin, broadcast after News at Ten, was also due to launch on the same day, but was held back until Monday, 28 April 1980 because of union problems. During 1979, the main evening programme was renamed as Thames News.

Plot: Photographer Barnard Jacobs is dying. What seems as bad to him is that Ashley, the woman he's in love with, can't bring herself to admit her own feelings for him. She's too wrapped up in her own cocaine addiction and a desire to find a wealthy husband. During a typical New York City evening, shallow fashionista Madeleine begs Barnard to call Ashley for drugs. When Ashley's wealthy friend Boccaccio comes over, Ashley admits that she has a new boyfriend and Boccaccio and Madeleine pair off. Barnard eventually retires to his own apartment, where Ashley, seeking peace and solitude, joins him in a chastely romantic expression of affection. In flashback, Barnard recalls how his best friend, a financier named Pickering, hired him to take a series of photos of women's eyes. Despite Ashley turning up late to her audition and being hungover, the two forged a deep personal connection. Back in the present, Boccaccio and Madeleine sink into drug induced insanity. Unable to make any constructive decisions, the two become more removed from the world. As Barnard learns that death is near, he reaches out to Ashley one last time in a final attempt to save both of them.

Plot: Melding the seemingly disparate traditions of apocalyptic live-action graphic novel and charming Victoria-era toy theater, Dante's Inferno is a subversive, darkly satirical update of the original 14th century literary classic. Retold with the use of intricately hand-drawn paper puppets and miniature sets, and without the use of CGI effects, this unusual travelogue takes viewers on a tour of hell. And what we find there, looks a lot like the modern world. Sporting a hoodie and a hang-over from the previous night's debauchery, Dante wakes to find he is lost - physically and metaphorically - in a strange part of town. He asks the first guy he sees for some help: The ancient Roman poet Virgil, wearing a mullet and what looks like a brown bathrobe. Having no one else to turn to, Dante's quickly convinced that his only means for survival is to follow Virgil voyage down, down through the depths of Hell. The pair cross into the underworld and there Virgil shows Dante the underbelly of the Inferno, which closely resembles the decayed landscape of modern urban life. Dante and Virgil's chronicles are set against a familiar backdrop of used car lots, strip malls, gated communities, airport security checks, and the U.S. Capitol. Here, hot tubs simmer with sinners, and the river Styx is engorged with sewage swimmers. Also familiar is the contemporary cast of presidents, politicians, popes and pop-culture icons sentenced to eternal suffering of the most cruel and unusual kind: Heads sewn on backwards, bodies wrenched in half, never-ending blow jobs, dancing to techno for eternity, and last, but certainly not least, an inside look at Lucifer himself, from the point of view of a fondue-dunked human appetizer. Each creatively horrific penance suits the crime, and the soul who perpetrated it. As Dante spirals through the nine circles of hell, he comes to understand the underworld's merciless machinery of punishment, emerging a new man destined to change the course of his life. But not, of course, the brand of his beer.

Plot: Based on a more realistic portrayal of "Arthur" than has ever been presented onscreen. The film will focus on the history and politics of the period during which Arthur ruled -- when the Roman empire collapsed and skirmishes over power broke out in outlying countries -- as opposed to the mystical elements of the tale on which past Arthur films have focused.

Plot: Two thousand years ago, the people of Rome are so blasée, so used to violence, that entertaining them becomes a political problem. Someone suggests, after a hectic girl fight in a kitchen between a Nubian and a Viking slave, as a joke, that they should fight in the arena, instead of male gladiators. The idea is approved, though - and a female "Spartacus" theme follows.

Lucan (1978) - OPENING 2. Lucan, was a show about a baby boy lost in the wilderness of Minnesota, USA. This child was found and raised to age ten by a she wolf as her own. On the 11th November 2004 Channel Four transmitted this documentary. It was the first time that 'George' Lord Lucan's Son had contributed to a television programme which sought to answer the question, 'what ever happened to Lord Lucan.' Lucan disappeared on the 7th November 1974. It was at his Belgravia home that evening, that the bludgeoned body of his childrens' nanny Sandra Rivett was discovered in the basement. Whilst this documentary was in pre production I was socialising with George. We got along very well. George was aware of my long standing interest in his Father, and my desire to locate him either dead or alive. Sadly but inevitably, our friendship came to an abrupt end when I returned from one of my many trips to Africa, having discovered that George and his eldest sister had...

Lucan aired on ABC in the seventies with a successful Pilot and 12 episodes and starred the adorable Kevin Brophy. "Hunters found him in the wilds of Northern Minnesota, a boy raised from infancy by wolves. They captured him and brought him to the University where I was conducting research on human behavior. Growing into young manhood he was haunted by the mystery. Who was he? How had he been lost? Who were his parents? I named him 'Lucan.' Working at the University one night he came upon two men stealing drugs. They attacked him, chemicals exploded, one of the men died. The other escaped. Lucan was unjustly accused and held for ...

A year after the brutal murder, of the Children's nanny Mrs Sandra Rivett, Lady Lucan was interviewed and asked if she would like to see her husband again. Then on November 2nd 1981,one of Lord Lucan's sisters, Lady Sarah Gibbs gave an interview. She stated: 'He went away because he wanted to protect the children from unwelcome publicity.....The time may well come to say a lot more but for now let me say that we are sure that he is alive.' In 22nd January 2007 Lady Lucan sent me an email. She stated: 'Why doesn't my late husband return to this country now as he would certainly be acquitted because of the amount of publicity the case has attracted?' Eighteen minutes later, I received a further email from Lady Lucan, she stated: 'He doesn't return because he is dead.' If this is taken at...

Nu stiu daca cer prea mult
Ma intreb daca s-ar putea
Atunci cand te chem in gand
Sa apari in viata mea...
Sa-mi spui ca voi fi a ta
Si-n zori sa te pot avea
Doar pe tine...
Ce mult te-as tzine...
Langa mine...
Cat de mult as vrea
Doar pe tine...
Sa te pot avea...
Refren:
Dorinta sa-mi-o implinesti
Nu cred ca e foarte greu
Sa vii si sa imi soptesti
Ca eu voi fi mereu
A ta si ma vei iubi
Mai mult in fiecare zi
Doar pe tine...
Pe tine te-as tzine...
Langa mine...
Cat de mult as vrea
Doar pe tine...
Sa te pot avea...
