Qatar Airways launch discount flights from Canberra to Europe

Qatar Airways will soon be on the radar of those wanting a competitive flight deal to Europe next summer.

Canberrans will be able to jump on a Qatar Airways flight bound for Europe before Valentine's Day 2018.  And pricing for the flights starting on February 13 next year has landed with the airline promoting the new connection from Australia's capital.

There are 23 European city destinations an economy passenger can travel to return from Canberra for between $1200 and $1300.

These include: Paris, Madrid, Athens, Larnaca, Istanbul, Rome, Belgrade, Brussels, Milan, Zurich, Venice, Copenhagen, Zagreb, Budapest, Oslo, Moscow, Amsterdam, Berlin, Dublin, Skopje, Prague, Kyiv and Sarajevo.

Flights through to Barcelona, Frankfurt, Edinburgh, Manchester range between $1300 to $1400 per person.

The airline recently launched services to Nice, Dublin, Skopje, Prague and Kyiv and expects to launch their connection to Sarajevo later this year.

Some will be attracted to the convenience of the new connections, however Canberra Qatar Airways flights bound for Europe will operate via Sydney and Doha.

It appears the airline is hoping to generate some hype about the deals which are pitched at a lower price point than other international carriers at Canberra Airport.

A Qatar Airways flight from Canberra to London Heathrow on February 14, 2018, will set an economy passenger back $1425, via Qantas the price is $1632 and via Singapore Airlines the flight price is $2779.

"We're excited for Canberrans to experience our world-class service and have provided special introductory fares to several of our European destinations," the airline spokeswoman said.

"We're confident that local government, business and leisure travellers in Canberra will benefit greatly from this new connection, and our multi-award winning offerings from February 2018 onwards."
