Audi has revealed full Australian details surrounding its new RS 5 Coupe.
Based on the new A5 Coupe, the model brings fresh looks and updated technology to Audi’s two-door performance car.
The manufacturer has announced it will introduce its new RS 5 to Australian showrooms in December, priced from $156,600 plus on-road costs, which is $1300 less than its predecessor.
One of the main differences between the superseded car and its replacement is a turbocharged V6 engine that takes the place of the old model’s high-revving V8. The new 331kW 2.9-litre twin-turbo V6 engine offers improved pulling power and efficiency, creating 600Nm outputs that easily outstrip the previous model’s 430Nm maximum.
The new car also does away with a dual-clutch automatic transmission in favour of a regular eight-speed auto with all-wheel-drive.
Able to hit 100km/h in an impressive 3.9 seconds, the RS 5 is slightly faster than the BMW M4 Competition and Mercedes-AMG C63 sedan.
Audi claims the RS 5 consumes 8.8L/100km of premium petrol – 16 per cent less than the outgoing model.
The RS 5 is also up to 60 kilograms lighter than before, and is the first Audi RS model to use the brand’s latest chassis architecture, which will also feature in the upcoming Audi RS 4 wagon set to arrive in coming months.
Multi-mode suspension and a choice of driver modes feature as standard, with drivers able to personalise the car to their style through Audi’s Drive Select system.
The RS 5 is set to feature an impressive set of standard infotainment features including Audi’s virtual cockpit digital dashboard, Apple CarPlay, a digital radio and a 3D sound system.

Gotta love engineering. Smaller capacity, more bang than the Stinger.

More bang than the Stinger for over 3x as much buck, yes I'm sure Kia are losing sleep over a car that will sell 1/50th the numbers. And you don't think the Stinger could be easily tuned to exceed those numbers.

This or a S4? Should that be and?

Mr Maj, did I mention bang for buck,no. I simply commented on being impressed with their engineering efforts, relevant to this very article. Besides, motor enthusiast make emotional purchases, not economical ones.

Rich, emotive motor enthusiasts would always buy a Porsche over an Audi.

No Johnjohn I mentioned bang for buck since you think a $106K price differential is irrelevant. If we are being ridiculous why not mention the Alfa Guila QV, 2.9l, 375kW, 650Nm, makes the Audi look poor value given the Alfa is cheaper and goes a lot harder and even looks better.

Both the Alfa and the Audi have claimed acceleration of zero to 100km/h in 3.9 seconds. Audi has full sized driver's door and AWD for all weather performance.
