I'm just about ready to give up on this buggy and unreliable app. It has never been good, but in the last few days it's become more or less unusable with crashes every few minutes. If I'm lucky it might restart from the beginning, but always with more ads. SBS content is first rate, but the rubbish app makes it hard to reach. I'll come back when SBS starts taking this seriously.

Glad to finally be able to use Chromecast! But when casting to TV, I couldn't find a way to make the show HD so the steam quality is pretty poor in comparison to Netflix (am I missing a setting somewhere?) Happy to put up with ads as I understand the broadcaster needs revenue, but do you have to interrupt an episode several times ONLY to show an in-house ad, like for Eurovision? If house ads don't actually generate revenue, all you're doing is negatively impacting the viewer experience.

Came for the content, cried due to bugs. Can't pause as it restarts the entire episode, can fast forward as that goes to an ad, which then restarts the episode. Basically a broken app if you connection is not great, or you pause for any reason, or you want to watch the last 5 minutes of an episode...

App frequently shuts down. Error message comes up when trying to play videos. Doesn't always save spot in episode. When it does work, no complaints! But lately, that hasn't been very often.
So many bugs, it will randomly stop on you when it goes to play ads and then take you back to the beginning, or completely freeze if you pause it. Trying to scroll back if it's randomly jumped ahead is impossible. I don't mind watching a few ads but it's a bit much having to watch the same one multiple times because the ap's broken. Disappointing and frustrating because there's some good content but many times frustratingly buggy - almost to the point it's unwatchable.

After several updates they STILL haven't fixed the constant crashing. THIS IS FOR THE PIXEL XL TOO! Unbelievable.

Paul - did get in contact with detail as to where the crashes happen for you?
Appreciate this is annoying for you but we'd really need information to get a handle it. Unfortunately we don't have premier Android phone to test / dev against but more information is helpful.
sbsondemandteam@sbs.com.au The app looks pretty, but we can't get through an entire episode before encountering an issue - usually as a result of the constant ads. It's not worth the effort to use this app.
I do not want to watch an ad every single time i fast forward more than 30 seconds. The reason I fast forward is because the app loses Chromecast connection and fails to remember last watched position thuse having to do it manually.
Buggy- sometimes restarts video during streaming, sometimes loses connection to Chromecast and can't control anymore, sometimes just buffers for ages (even though I'm on NBN)
Much better than it was but ads still show up at strange times.. sometimes mid sentence!!! And some ads are SO LOUD that you are diving for the remote... so, better but still a few issues...
Trying to use it with Chromecast. It kept stopping what we were watching every 30 seconds and went to an add (the same add over and over). It's not functional in its current state.
I have downloaded the app twice and still cannot view any shows!! There is nothing wrong with my internet connection but keeps telling me I have none. ABC iview leaves this for dead. Come on SBS!!

Can you get in contact with sbsondemandteam@sbs.com.au with more detail? I have the Galaxy S7 and the app loads and video plays for me so I'd be curious as to what's going on with your device. Given up trying to cast on Chromecast... Just too buggy and frustrating. App loses connection and causes the program to restart when reaching an ad. Same issues as many of the other users here. I had the same issues on my ps3 when SBS first introduced advertising quarterly throughout thier programs some time ago (one of the reasons I bought a Chromecast...). SBS love the programming you provide, but my family will unfortunately have to miss out until you guys get it sorted.
CC gone — why? Thought you had at least given us rudimentary cc function from ad to ad even if you had to restart cc after every ad. Now cc is totally gone! This is very frustrating for two viewers with hearing problems.
This app is better than previously and I don't experience buffering issues. I look forward to when it can track what I've watched and a 15 sec rewind would be handy.
It does this weird thing with Chromecast where with the first ad break it goes back to the start of the program. It also seems to crash and will go back to the start of the program weirdly. Doesn't appear to work well with cromecast.
Incredible wealth of quality programming with minimal ad breaks and good options for viewing (captions and resolution settings).

Crashing constantly/ unresponsive. Nobody wants ads. I bet they'll bring in a paid service soon to remove ads.
Videos not playing, saying there is no internet, but there is. Please fix the bug.

Hi - I've been able to play v2.2.1 on my Android device without reference to no internet , can you get in contact with sbsondemandteam@sbs.com.au and more detail about what you're seeing and when? A great way to stream to your tv without heating up your phone. Great work.

can you get in contact via sbsondemandteam@sbs.com.au with detail and what you were trying to play please? Didn't have an issue with app crashing but pls do something about the ad placement. It's jarring and interrupts scenes midway and when it gets back to the show you feel like you missed something.. can't go back and rewind or fast forward so can be frustrating. Watched a few eps of The Handmaid's Tale through my phone- sound was good and picture quality OK.
Crash central. Open the app and it crashes. Start to watch something it crashes. Want to cast something it crashes. You then can't disconnect your casting even though you are not casting anything. I like what is on offer. I want to watch a lot of things. And the one thing it should be good at, it fails miserably. Watching something. The app looks well designed, and that's where it ends. Or in this case..... crashes.
Too many bugs while casting. I hate that it flicks back to the beginning of the show then its very hard to get back to the correct place within the show. Frustrating. If there were no issues casting it would be a 5.
Edit: The latest update has fixed the casting problem and the app works as intended. Thank you SBS for resolving this. Original review: Unusable with Chromecast in its current state as it begins playing an ad before losing video signal and refusing to play. Playback is flawless on the device however.

We released an update to the app today (v2.2.0) but your mention of issues with casting would need a closer look. Can you get in contact via sbsondemandteam@sbs.com.au with your OS, content watched and casting device info PLEASE FOCUS ON USER EXPERIENCE. I am more likely to uninstall something that plays repetitive adverts every 3 minutes, versus switch to ABC application. PLEASE FIX ADVERTS!!
While streaming a show the app will regularly skip back to the start of a show... extremely annoying. Doesn't have live tv.
Still experiencing issues with the ads. I cannot watch the first episode of Filthy Rich and Homeless at all. When I cast, it just stops 10 seconds into the first ad. When I play it on Mr device (and I tried two), it glitches at the end of the ad and never plays the video. Wasted half an hour trying! Managed to get the second episode going. Go figure. But haven't reached the next ad block yet. This really puts me of from using the app. And I cannot watch it through my browser on a mobile device. Please fix! Channel 10 and channel 9 put a fix in their apps to just skip the ads if a problem is detected. Better to miss out on some ad hits than to lose viewers! Edit: Aaand then it went back to the start after the next ad. This app simply doesn't work and never has. Not watching again.
Tried to Chromecast Handmaid's Tail and the opening scene just looped around an ad three times. The video timer was correct and was moving forward but it kept repeating the same scene

Getting better. Really needs to remember last watched episode and play the next episode. It's guesswork ATM
Video keeps freezing upon entering advertisement. The video freezes on last frame of show. The audio continues with the advertisement and then resumes the show, but video is still suck on last frame of show before advertisement started playing. At this stage UI is unresponsive. Have to force quit application. Very frustrating
SERIOUSLY. It took half an hour to watch 25 minutes of commercials. Before I could get a clean stream. The clean stream isn't your fault but sending me back to the commercials every time it stalls is. When you fix it let me know, I'll be on Netflix.
Crashes all the time when casting and forces you to watch all the ads again. Rubbish app. I get why you have ads but having to watch them all again to get back to your place after the app crashes is crappy.
Shithouse. I've watched adds for the tour de france 18 times and still not seen the start of an episode. If only your episodes were as functioning as your damn adds.
