Man dies after Perth train track crash

A man has died after his car rolled onto train tracks in suburban Perth, the second death within 24 hours on West Australian roads.

His car went off the Mitchell Freeway in the suburb of Gwelup and rolled onto train tracks shortly before 3pm on Saturday, police say.

The man died at the scene.

A 39-year-old woman was fatally struck by a car on Friday night as the driver apparently veered to avoid hitting several other pedestrians in regional WA.

Up to three vehicles were parked beside the Great Northern Highway at Mount Hardman about 7.30pm as a number of people helped repair a flat tyre.

Is is believed a motorist driving a Holden Colorado veered to the centre of the road to avoid hitting them but in doing so struck a woman walking on the road, who died soon after arriving at hospital.
