About World Veg Festival
For 18 years the San Francisco Veg Society has been organizing the World Veg Festival to educate and inspire more people about the benefits of plant-based lifestyle for healthy, ethic, and sustainable living..

The first World Veg Festival in San Francisco happened in 1988 and has run annually ever since. It was initially launched to celebrate World Vegetarian Day, observed worldwide on October 1st.

WVF brings together vegetarians and vegans, as well as curious non-vegetarians and flexitarians, to celebrate World Veg Day, featuring plant-based nutrition experts, dynamic speakers, cooking demos, great veg products that the whole family can enjoy.

GROWING THE VEG COMMUNITY ONE BITE AT A TIME

The San Francisco Veg Society (SFVS) is a non-profit, volunteer-run organization founded in 1968. We promote the adoption of a plant-based diet and lifestyle for healthy, ethical and sustainable living. Based in historically progressive city of San Francisco, we offer a community for people to meet, learn, exchange ideas and information, and interact with others interested in plant-based living for a better world. Together we can make this movement grow and encourage a lifestyle that is better for your health, better for the well-being of animals, better for the environment and better for humanity.

CHANGE YOUR DIET, CHANGE THE WORLD
Why make a festival around a diet choice? There are many good reasons to adopt a plant-based diet. We believe there is no wrong reason to go vegan! Here are a few good reasons why to inspire you to choose a vegan diet.

FOR YOUR HEALTH

The science is in. A vegan diet is one of the most healthy options for optimal health. From curing obesity, to reversing heart disease, following a plant-based diet is one of the smartest (and kindest) things you can do for your health.

Vegan for the Animals

FOR THE ANIMALS

Animals are sentient beings who are treated abominably by our current food system. There is a place for all of us on this earth and all play an important part in a healthy ecosystem. Animals should be treated with the respect and compassion they deserve.

For the Environment

FOR THE ENVIRONMENT

The meat and fishing industries have a detrimental impact on our land, air, and water--contributing to climate change, mass extinction, and environmental destruction. By choosing a vegan diet you take direct action against the industries and practices that harm our environment.

For Humanity

FOR HUMANITY

Do you know where your food comes from? From the farms, to the slaughter houses to the fishing boats, people are being exploited, abused and sometimes enslaved to bring more meat and fish into your diet. If your spirit cries out for social justice in our world, it's time to go vegan!
