Ludwig van Beethoven (i/ˈlʊdvɪɡ væn ˈbeɪˌtoʊvən/, /ˈbeɪtˌhoʊvən/; German: [ˈluːtvɪç fan ˈbeːtˌhoˑfn̩]; baptised 17 December 1770 – 26 March 1827) was a German composer. A crucial figure in the transition between the Classical and Romantic eras in Western art music, he remains one of the most famous and influential of all composers. His best-known compositions include 9 symphonies, 5 piano concertos, 1 violin concerto, 32 piano sonatas, 16 string quartets, his great Mass the Missa solemnis and an opera, Fidelio.
Born in Bonn, then the capital of the Electorate of Cologne and part of the Holy Roman Empire, Beethoven displayed his musical talents at an early age and was taught by his father Johann van Beethoven and by composer and conductor Christian Gottlob Neefe. At the age of 21 he moved to Vienna, where he began studying composition with Joseph Haydn, and gained a reputation as a virtuoso pianist. He lived in Vienna until his death. By his late 20s his hearing began to deteriorate, and by the last decade of his life he was almost totally deaf. In 1811 he gave up conducting and performing in public but continued to compose; many of his most admired works come from these last 15 years of his life.

Plot: 1801, in Vienna, two young women, his pupils, are in love with him. Thérèse de Brunswick's love remains unrequited even though she and Beethoven are engaged for years; Juliette Guicciardi, whom Beethoven loves but who marries a count, regrets that decision, but by then he and Thérèse are engaged. When Beethoven loses Juliette, he moves to the mill at Heiligenstadt; realizing he's becoming deaf, profound depression sets in. He rejects suicide, holding on to remembered sound and to his work, a dedication assisted by Thérèse and others. In later years, we see his devotion to an ungrateful and thieving nephew, his poverty, the isolation of deafness, and the love of friends.

Beethoven This child was the great musician Ludwig van Beethoven. Beethoven was born in Bonn, Germany on December 6, 1770. His family was traditionally a family of musicians, who belonged to the court orchestra. One day Mr. Matrio, director of the court orchestra visited Beethoven's house. Mrs. Breuning, a noblewoman, helped young Beethoven. Beethoven had the chance of meeting Mozart with the help of Teacher Nepe and some people around him. Mozart was very surprised after li...

In this interview Leif Inge talks about his performance of ‘9 Beet Stretch’, his 24-hour performance for AV Festival 12. ‘9 Beet Stretch’ is Ludwig van Beethoven’s 9th Symphony stretched to 24-hours, with no pitch distortion. “The piece slows symphonic time so that movement is barely perceptible. What you hear in normal time as a happy Viennese melody lasting 5 or 10 seconds becomes minutes of slowly cascading overtones; a drumroll becomes a nightmarish avalanche. Yet the symphony remains somehow recognizable in spirit if not in form, its frozen strings fraught with tense, frowning Beethoven-ness.” (Ben Sisario, The New York Times)
Die gebürtige Bulgarin Vesselina Kasarova ist eine gefeierte Mezzosopranistin. Am 20.9. gab sie im Steigenberger Grandhotel Petersberg ein Konzert im Zeichen Ariadnes. *Never mind the lenght of the video, it's the full symphony. According to Bendzsi1997, the tempo of this piece is mostly normal. Exception at the 2nd mov's Trio (2x fast) and at the 4th mov's March (2x fast) and 51-53 minutes.* The Symphony No. 9 in D minor, Op. 125, is the final complete symphony of Ludwig van Beethoven. Completed in 1824, the symphony was the first example of a major composer using voices in a symphony (thus making it a choral symphony). The words are sung during the final movement by four vocal soloists and a chorus. They were taken from the "Ode to Joy", a poem written by Friedrich Schiller in 1785 and revised in 1803, with additions made by the composer. - 1st movement 0:00 - 2nd movement 13:15 - 3rd movement 25:09 - 4th movement 36:25 No copyright infringement int...

By Samuel Friedrich Sauter (1766-1846)
Ach! mir schallt's dorten so lieblich hervor:
Fürchte Gott, fürchte Gott!
Ruft mir die Wachtel ins Ohr.
Sitzend im Grünen, von Halmen umhüllt,
Mahnt sie dem Horcher am Saatengefild:
Liebe Gott, liebe Gott!
Er ist so gütig, so mild.
Wieder bedeutet ihr hüpfender Schlag:
Lobe Gott, lobe Gott!
Der dich zu loben vermag.
Siehst du die herrlichen Früchte im Feld?
Nimm es zu Herzen, Bewohner der Welt:
Danke Gott, danke Gott!
Der dich ernährt und erhält.
Schreckt dich im Wetter der Herz der Natur:
Bitte Gott, bitte Gott!
Ruft sie, er schonet die Flur.
Machen Gefahren der Krieger dir bang:
Traue Gott, traue Gott!
Sieh', er verziehet nicht lang.
