So let me break it down for you: If your child is LGBTQ your child is LGBTQ there is nothing you can do. You can oppress them, make them feel shamed, cause them to hide who they are for some amount of time -- but if you do that, they're probably going to hate you -- if they don't do something worse.
Ultimately, it was standing for election and becoming a politician that tipped the balance for me. I realised that I could not, in all conscience, be an authentic politician if I wasn't honest with myself about who I really was. However, coming out also nearly stopped me from standing for election. I was simply terrified what would befall me if I had to come out publicly. I grossly underestimated how far LGBT rights and perceptions of LGBT people had come.
The most obvious obstacle is the unpopularity of his opinions. Mogg an emphatic social conservative. He has consistently voted against gay rights, criticised abortion laws for being "a form of contraception" and was guest speaker at the annual dinner of Traditional Britain - a group that wants to repatriate ethnic minorities.
L'Oréal had an opportunity to really listen to the raw and truthful sentiments made by Munroe as a direct response to the violence of white supremacists in Charlottesville. Not only did they have the opportunity to listen, but they asked for this opportunity. In establishing a diversity initiative, and therefore addressing structural racism, you can't then pick and choose what to support.
As a charity which cares for tens of thousands of women facing an unwanted pregnancy every year, we know difficulties obtaining emergency contraception mean many women are unable to make use of this second chance to avoid an unwanted pregnancy. And we wanted to stand up and do something against what we saw as the ultimate sexist surcharge.
We eat together, work together and learn from one another. It's about collaborating instead of competing. Living sustainably isn't easy - growing things yourself is always twice as hard as buying it; the soil is low as the locals say. We have to deal with wild boars, hail storms and droughts, but a freshly picked strawberry somehow tastes different than a Frankenstein-strawberry from the supermarket.
Then there are the ones that cut really deeply, like the immovable oncology appointment that means I won't be able to pick Jess up after her first day next Monday, not to mention the months and months of watching my children's faces dissolve into tears when I tell them that I can't play with them again because I'm feeling poorly.
As reports reveal a new female-led remake of 'Lord Of The Flies' is in the works, they're also discussing whether reboots like this are the way forward, and looking ahead to the new series of 'The X Factor', and what they're hoping to see (and, indeed, not to see) this time around.
Plus, ahead of the new series, they're taking a look back on some of the show's most famous past contestants, and testing their knowledge of the acts' chart success.
We say we can write our own rules in a relationship so why not in the rest of our life? I, for example, am somebody who needs quiet for the first hour in the morning. No noise from social media, no deep and meaningful chats in the kitchen with my housemate, no job lists but just one hour to come round and consider the day ahead.
September is Gynae Cancer Awareness Month. We lead this campaign and the national conversation to get everyone talking about the five gynaecological cancers and their signs and symptoms. This means a lot of straight-talking. It means calling a vagina a vagina - and knowing what the difference is between a vulva (no, it's not a car) and a vagina.
To begin with, I will give you a little bit of background history in case you haven't read my previous posts. I've worked in retail since I was 17; two years in a bakery and two years in a supermarket alongside my studies. While I know this doesn't exactly make me a retail veteran, it did open my eyes to something important.
My advice to young people being bullied is to believe in you! Do what you love, follow your passions and love yourself. You are a wonderful person with so much potential. You are loved, and you are loving. Be the change!
When Becky's daughter became very ill on a Saturday evening, she brought her to A&E.; The nine-month-old was diagnosed with tonsillitis and an infection in both ears. The next day, which happened to be Father's Day, Becky had to miss work to look after her little girl. But when she went back on Monday her manager accused her of lying so that she could take Father's Day off.
Becky is one of thousands of young parents who simply aren't getting the support they deserve at work.
Referendums are, by nature, divisive, as they usually address questions of identity, and I would want to make sure that they were permanent, gave satisfactory answers, and didn't clash with the political context they were being held in before having any more.
Much of the criticism of The State has been based on the idea it humanises those joining Daesh. But the point is that those who commit terrorist acts are human, and preventing future atrocities requires an understanding of how they entered down that dark path. Whether or not you watched it, liked it or hated it, the series raises the imperative question of what drives young people to turn away from the people that love them.
Labouring for over two days ended in the call for a category one (highest level) emergency caesarean. Nothing in my mental preparation had imagined my birthing room being suddenly rushed by medical staff with such a sense of urgency and panic, being sped down a corridor on a trolley to be prepped for surgery and have your baby pulled out within 15 minutes of the call being made.
What is currently being proposed by the government could amount to a worrying transfer of unaccountable power to ministers. With so many sectors affected - from human rights, environment, consumer rights, workers' rights, and equality, all the way through to democracy, transparency, food, farming, education, and trade - there is both a need and appetite to collaborate on the bill.
As I was tagged in the photograph I was also receiving notifications of comments on this photograph of us beaming and relaxed at our friend's celebration. Most comments were complimentary and kind but after I had a notification from one of Adam's colleagues whom I have never met, my confidence was shattered in one click.
I was shocked by how deep the hole was and I worried about how others would react. I needed to find a way to pick my own confidence up enough so I could do the school run without fear of embarrassing myself or my kids. I also didn't want to miss out on such an important part of parenting and I couldn't stay hiding behind closed doors forever.
We all do it, up to eight times a day - many of us more - and yet it is still taboo to talk about our need to go to the toilet. It is a problem that we are all facing - there are not enough public toilets. However, it is a problem that the elderly, disabled, chronically ill and parents with children are facing all the more frequently - there are not enough accessible public toilets.
Technology is advancing at an exponential rate. We have already seen technologies which were once at the forefront of innovation quickly become out of touch if they did not continually evolve to remain ahead of the tech curve. Who would have thought ten years ago the rise of the smartphone would make the iPod obsolete?
In this time of austerity, when the divide between the haves and have-nots is greater than ever, we need someone who can persuade others to see the problems those on the margins face. We need someone with the same influence who is unafraid of drawing attention to inconvenient truths, and capable of making politicians and society think differently. Someone who gives a damn.
