Man assaulted after trying to break up fight at Westfield Belconnen

Police are calling for witnesses after a man was assaulted while trying to break up a fight at Westfield Belconnen on Tuesday night.

Between 6 and 6:30pm, police said a group of young people were at the Belconnen bus interchange on Cohen Street when two boys started fighting.

The group moved into Westfield near the Katmandu store as the two continued to fight.

A member of the public intervened but was harassed by the group and then assaulted by a girl among them.

As ge headed for the bus interchange, the group followed, continuing to harass and assault him.

On Friday, ACT Policing urged any witnesses to the incident to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, quoting reference number 6145801.
