Building Resilient Communities: 2016 UNDP Kenya in Focus

UNDP partners with people at all levels of society to help build nations that can withstand crisis, and sustain the kind of growth that improves the quality of life for everyone. In Kenya, UNDP aims to address poverty, inequality and exclusion in an integrated and area based approach supporting communities and government to achieve sustainable and inclusive economic growth. Our programmes are delivered in consultation and partnership with a broad range of stakeholders including; the Government of Kenya, civil society organizations, independent bodies, development partners and other UN agencies.

Tea Tree Mitigating Impact of Drought and Changing Fortunes

In a county classified as arid and semi-arid due to its cycles of drought, hunger and famine, smallholder farmers are now raking in major profits from agriculture as a result of their venture in alternative sources of livelihood. In addition, over 5000 households from Laikipia, now have access to food and parents can afford school fees for their children’s education.
