Just as the saying goes: 'it takes a village to raise a child,' it takes a community to support mothers to breastfeed. During World Breastfeeding Week 2017 we look at how we can build a village of support around our mothers, helping them to breastfeed for as long as they wish.

In the immediate aftermath of the Grenfell Tower fire, dozens of people started to arrive at the local rest centres with bottles of water, bags of bedding, clothing, children's toys, anything they could muster to help those who had lost everything. Very quickly, those dozens of people turned into a community, then a city, and before the day was out the whole country was donating items to the fire victims. Everyone wanted to do something to help. It was a huge spontaneous response to what has been one of the UK's worst peacetime disasters.
In this vlog for HuffPost UK, Ruth shows how young people can make change in their community when they have nothing, using hip-hop as a tool for change, drawing on examples from Medellin, Colombia and Gulu in Uganda.
In this vlog for HuffPost UK, Rola talks about the launch of CanDo, how people power is the greatest driver of social change, and why we need a smarter solution to deliver humanitarian aid in the 21st Century.
At present, it is all too easy for someone to buy a corrosive substance and throw it, sometimes from a distance, at another person. It is vital that we do everything we can to halt these types of attack. This situation cannot be allowed to continue or escalate and this is my plea to prevent more lives being destroyed. My sincere thanks to those who are already proactively looking at these difficult, but important, issues and working towards solutions.
Last month for example, I was struck down by a pressure sore. These are common secondary complications of being paralysed, and can occur at any time. I blanched with fear when I discovered it. 'I don't have time', I panicked. 'I literally do not have time to be... disabled'.
After going on the course, it wasn't long before I was putting my skills into action. We'd had a report about a man drinking on a bench on a platform. It was late at night, he was alone, and there were no trains due to stop at that platform... Thinking back to that night, I believe my Samaritans' training was invaluable and changed the way I approached the whole situation.
A far greater proportion of resources needs to be targeted towards pre-primary education. This means a new approach to funding is needed to tackle the problem. It is time for governments and the international community to back up their words with actions. If they believe early child care and education is important - they must prove it. Prioritise it in education policies and allocate sufficient resources to get EVERY child in EVERY country into free, quality pre-primary education.

Right now, Shelter's priority is to listen to the community and work with local agencies to support all those who have been affected by the fire - those who lived in the tower and those who live near it, and to make sure we do that in the most helpful way.
Being gay in a country where it's illegal or culturally unacceptable often means living a life in the shadows, hiding out of fear from family, friends, employers and the authorities. Many people don't even realise they can claim asylum due to sexuality and prejudiced or ignorant lawyers often fail to inform them. Sometimes, people don't even know they've arrived in a country where it's legal to identify as LGBTQ.

The incredible generosity in the aftermath of the Grenfell Tower fire has seen people from all walks of life volunteering to help. Three British Red Cross volunteers share their stories.
As we prepare to celebrate all things fatherly this Sunday, here's a look at three dads in rural Kenya who are standing up and speaking out to stop FGM and early marriage. Not only are they keeping their own daughters safe, they are setting an example to help protect future generations of young girls.
I've sectioned a typical day as an example, showing your 'normal' working schedule (we will call this day 'relief') and how it compares to the 'children' working schedule when it is the holiday period (I've called this day 'demand').

On Tuesday morning, having woken up at 6am and re-started the endless pull down to refresh mantra of the previous night, the situation became human. Sparking on Twitter, and then spreading out to news media, Georgina Callander was identified as the first confirmed victim of the attack. A young, eighteen year old girl, visiting a concert with her friends was mercilessly killed by an unknown attacker. Quickly it became apparent that she was a fan of my musician friend, Dodie, and together we decided that this feeling of "I have got to do something about this" had to manifest itself into something larger.
Numerous studies, scientists and experts have all told us we need to change our attitudes towards eating meat; specifically, beef. Not only do cows have a damaging impact on the environment, all too often they are raised in inhumane conditions. So how do we change what is, for many, an ingrained lifestyle?
