Wafadaar

Wafadaar is a 1985 Hindi film directed by Dasari Narayana Rao. The film stars Rajinikanth, Padmini Kolhapuri and Vijeta Pandit for the first in a love triangle well supported by Kader Khan, Anupam Kher, Shakti Kapoor, Asrani, Paintal and others.

Synopsis

Wafadaar (1985) is a Bollywood action flick wherein Daya Sagar (Anupam Kher) plots to obtain the wealth of Rajgiri (Kader Khan). Sager asks his servant Ranga (Rajinikanth) to woo Rajgiri's daughter Seeta (Padmini Kolhapure) and marry her. Ranga is unaware that Daya's motive is to kill Seeta to possess her father's fortune. Once Ranga finds out Daya's intent, he revolts and foils Daya's murderous plans. Ranga and Seeta wed and happily live in married bliss.

Dasari Narayana Rao

Dasari Narayana Rao (born 4 May 1947, Palakollu, West Godavari), is an Indian film director known for his works predominantly in Telugu cinema, and few Bollywood films . He has directed about 151films, produced 53 films and worked in more than 250 films as a dialogue writer, and lyricist. Most of his films emphasise social injustice, corruption and gender discrimination. He has received two National Film Awards, nine state Nandi Awards, and six Filmfare Awards South. Besides graduating with a BA degree, he used to take part in scores of drama competitions. During his career he has also acted in Telugu, Tamil, and Kannada languages.

He holds Limca World Record for directing the most number of films. He directed films like Tandra Paparayudu, (1986), Surigaadu (1992), screened at International Film Festival of India in the panorama section, and Kante Koothurne Kanu (2000) which received the National Film Award Special Mention Feature Film. In 1983, he directed Meghasandesam which received critical acclaim at the Indian panorama, Chicago, 1983 Cannes Film Festival and Moscow film festivals. The film has also received the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Telugu. He has introduced actors and directors such as Mohan Babu, R. Narayana Murthy, Raviraja Pinisetty, Muthyala Subbaiah to Telugu film industry.

Bappi Lahiri (Born Alokesh Lahiri on 27 November 1952) is a music composer in the Indian film industry. He popularized the use of synthesized disco music in Indian cinema and sang some of his own compositions. He was popular in the 1980s and 1990s with filmi soundtracks like Wardat, Disco Dancer, Namak Halaal, Dance Dance, Commando, Gang Leader, Sailaab and Sharaabi among others.

Bappi Lahiri joined BJP in 2014. He was declared a BJP candidate from Srirampur in West Bengal for the Indian general election, 2014 and lost.

Biography

Early years

Bappi D. Lahiri was born in Jalpaiguri, West Bengal. His parents, Aparesh Lahiri and Bansari Lahiri both from Jalpaiguri, West Bengal were famous Bengali singer and musician in classical music and Shyama Sangeet. He is their only child.
