The Orwell Prize

The Orwell Prize is Britain’s most prestigious prize for political writing. Every year, we award prizes to the work – for the book, for the journalism, and since 2009, for the blog – which comes closest to George Orwell’s ambition ‘to make political writing into an art’. But we do much more than that, taking political argument and discussions about Orwell, literature and politics all over the country, and promoting Orwell’s writing through online projects such as this blog.

For more about the Prize, you can visit the Orwell Prize website, follow the Prize on twitter, subscribe to the weekly newsletter or watch some of our previous events on our YouTube Channel. We also have a flickr stream, and following the success of this blog, we’ve also post-blogged Orwell’s Road to Wigan Pier diary.

If you have any questions, you can contact the deputy director of the Orwell Prize, Gavin Freeguard.

Blair’s genius gave the world the definitive bluprint for today’s society, from the People’s Republic of China to our own Newspeak in political correctness.
