What is the Coalition?

Greater Manchester Coalition of Disabled People (GMCDP) is a Disabled People’s Organisation, and is a place for disabled people to share knowledge and experiences, find information, and come to events or workshops.

GMCDP campaigns for the rights and full inclusion of disabled people in society. All of our work promotes the removal of the barriers disabled people face and challenging discrimination.

An Equality and Human Rights Commission report of 2017 summed up the reality of disabled people’s rights in the UK:

“While progress has been made in some areas, the overall picture emerging from the data is that disabled people are facing more barriers and falling further behind. It is a badge of shame on our society that millions of disabled people in Britain are still not being treated as equal citizens and continue to be denied the everyday rights non-disabled people take for granted….”

There is still a lot of work for us to do to achieve our aim of equality and full inclusion in society. There are lots of ways for you to get involved with or support GMCDP. You can become a member, take part in our projects, or get involved in our campaigns.

We hope you’ll join us!
