Plot
A day in the life of a barbershop on the south side of Chicago. Calvin, who inherited the struggling business from his deceased father, views the shop as nothing but a burden and waste of his time. Ricky is an ex-con with two strikes against him and is desperately trying to stay straight. Terri is a hard-edged woman who can't seem to leave her two-timing boyfriend. And lastly there's Dinka, a fellow barber who is madly in love with Terri but doesn't get the time of day.

Lester: [greeting each other] Eddie.::Eddie: Nigga.

[repeated line/entering barbershop on DVD]::Terri: Who drank my apple juice?
Eddie: There are three things that Black people need to tell the truth about. Number one: Rodney King should've gotten his ass beat for being drunk in a Honda a white part of Los Angeles. Number two: O.J. did it! And number three: Rosa Parks didn't do nuthin' but sit her Black ass down!
Calvin: You see that? That right there is Oprah's house.
Eddie: Fuck Jesse Jackson!
Jimmy: Eddie, not only is what you're saying not true, it is wrong and disrespectful for you to discuss Rosa Parks in that way.::Eddie: Wait, hold on here. Is this a barbershop? Is this a barbershop? If we can't talk straight in a barbershop, then where can we talk straight? We can't talk straight nowhere else. You know, this ain't nothin' but healthy conversation, that's all.

Plot
Dr. Gillespie's health is failing, and the hospital is urging him to get a new assistant that he doesn't want. So, he poses a stumper in class to discourage all the bright young students; unfortunately, he gets three smart-alecky youngsters who all know the answer: Randall Adams (clean-cut American type), Lee Wong How (from Brooklyn), and Dennis LIndsey (Aussie). In typical Gillespie fashion, he sets about showing them there's more to doctoring than book-learning, and assigns each intern to an impossible case of diagnosis, saying that whoever gets it right will become his new assistant.

Norma Jeane Mortensen Baker (June 1, 1926 – August 5, 1962), professionally recognized as Marilyn Monroe, was an American actress, model, and singer, who became a major sex symbol, starring in a number of commercially successful motion pictures during the 1950s and early 1960s.
After spending much of her childhood in foster homes, Monroe began a career as a model, which led to a film contract in 1946 with Twentieth Century-Fox. Her early film appearances were minor, but her performances in The Asphalt Jungle and All About Eve (both 1950) drew attention to her. By 1953, Monroe had progressed to a leading role in Niagara (1953), a melodramatic film noir that dwelt on her seductiveness. Her "dumb blonde" persona was used to comic effect in subsequent films such as Gentlemen Prefer Blondes (1953), How to Marry a Millionaire (1953) and The Seven Year Itch (1955). Limited by typecasting, Monroe studied at the Actors Studio to broaden her range. Her dramatic performance in Bus Stop (1956) was hailed by critics and garnered a Golden Globe nomination. Her production company, Marilyn Monroe Productions, released The Prince and the Showgirl (1957), for which she received a BAFTA Award nomination and won a David di Donatello award. She received a Golden Globe Award for her performance in Some Like It Hot (1959). Monroe's last completed film was The Misfits, co-starring Clark Gable with screenplay by her then-husband, Arthur Miller.
Phillip John "Phil" Donahue (born December 21, 1935) is an American media personality, writer, and film producer best known as the creator and host of The Phil Donahue Show. The television program, also known as Donahue, was the first to use a talk show format. The show had a 26-year run on U.S. national TV, preceded by three years of local broadcast in Dayton, Ohio, before ending in 1996.
His shows have often focused on issues that often divide liberals and conservatives in the United States, such as abortion, consumer protection, civil rights and war issues. His most frequent guest was Ralph Nader, for whom Donahue campaigned in 2000. Donahue also hosted a talk show on MSNBC from 2002–2003.
In 1996, Donahue was ranked #42 on TV Guide's 50 Greatest TV Stars of All Time.
Donahue was born into a middle-class, churchgoing, Irish Catholic family in Cleveland, Ohio; his father was a furniture sales clerk and his mother a department store shoe clerk. In 1949, he graduated from of Our Lady Of Angels elementary school in the West Park neighborhood. In 1953, Donahue was a member of the first graduating class of St. Edward High School, an all-boys college prep Catholic private high school run by the Congregation of Holy Cross in suburban Lakewood, Ohio. He graduated from the University of Notre Dame, which is also run by the Congregation of Holy Cross, with a B.B.A in 1957.
James James (also known by the bardic name Iago ap Ieuan) (1833–1902) was a harpist and musician from Pontypridd, Wales. He composed the tune of the Welsh national anthem Hen Wlad fy Nhadau (also known as Land of my Fathers).
James James composed the melody which was later known as Hen Wlad fy Nhadau in January 1856. At first it was known as Glan Rhondda (The banks of the Rhondda), and gave rise to the tradition that the tune had come to him as he walked on the bank of the River Rhondda. His father, Evan James, wrote the lyrics that eventually became the words of the Welsh national anthem.
A memorial to James James and his father, in the shape of two figures representing the muses of Poetry and Music, stands in Ynysangharad Park, Pontypridd. James James died in Aberdare in the Cynon Valley 11 January 1902, he is buried in the local cemetery at Aberdare in the same grave as his wife Cecilia and daughter Louisa.
Eli Woods is an English comedian and comic actor, born in Stockton-on-Tees, possibly best known for his work with stage comedian Jimmy James (in reality his uncle), and particularly for his part in the famous 'elephant-in-the-box' routine. Woods's birth name is actually John Casey (but known as Jack).
Jimmy James developed his famous act over many years, but from the first it required two 'stooges'. One was Jack Casey—tall and stick-thin, with a bony face and a stammering delivery—who originally appeared as 'Bretton Woods' (named after the site of the famous 1944 United Nations Monetary and Financial Conference), and was only later christened Eli (often 'Our Eli'). The other stooge, 'Hutton Conyers' would be played either by members of the Casey family or (from 1956 to 1959) by the young Roy Castle.
During the late seventies and early eighties, Woods starred in Eddie Braben's BBC radio comedy shows 'The Show With Ten Legs' (26 episodes, 1978–1980) and 'The Show with No Name' (13 episodes, 1982–84). Both shows harked back to the music-hall tradition.
People how you doing? There?s a new day dawning
For the earth mother it?s a brand new morning
Such a long while there?s been such a longing
But now the sun is shining let?s roll back the awning
This is a type of kinda like a formal dedication
Giving out a shout for much inspiration
All I ever really want to do is get nice
Get loose and goof my little slice of life
Sendin? out love to all corners of the land
I jump up on the stage and take the mic in my hand
I'm not playin? the role, just being who I am
And if you try to dis me I couldn?t give a damn
?Cause I?m rockin?, rockin', rockin', rock, rock, rockin'
Get down, rock, rock, rock on
Rock, rock, rock on
Rock, rock, rock on
Mic, mic, mic control
Mic, mic, mic control
Mic, mic, mic, mic control, can you get my drift?
Bass from the back of my car feels soothing
Eight bazookas is what I?m using
I?m Mike D and it?s been proven
I love it when I see the party people just movin?
Strapped on the ear goggles and what did I see
But the music brought the people into harmony
Ah for the Black's, Puerto Rican's and the White People too
Baby wake up
Come on and shake up
Can you see the rays of light
Coming down from the summer sun
Let’s be a part of this
Cause you really don’t wanna miss
All of the happy people dancing in the summer sun
Everybody’s out
And feeling proud
Cause they know how good it feels to be in the summer sun
Summer sun
Let’s have a drink by the pool
Here there are no rules
It’s just the way we feel
On a sunny day under the summer sun
You look so lovely with hardly anything on
Yeah it’s the way you look on a sunny day
Under the summer sun
And my emotion
Rolls in like the ocean
It’s a feeling you can’t compare
But it’s like walking on air
Everybody is young
Under the ancient sun
It will shine on us forever
And raise us up
You look so lovely
And you got me so turned on
Yeah it’s the way you look
On a sunny day
Stunned, caught by surprise
Cause I thought you were the one
Now you’re gone without a reason why
Still don’t know what made you run
You let me suck the spit from your lips
How will I get over this
I’m in shock cause you just stopped
Coming around my block
You got addictions
Well so do I
Was I just another high
You took my best
But you’re such a mess
Why did I believe your eyes
I should have asked you what your love was for
Don’t matter anymore
I was kissing a fraud
Was it that 4 letter word
The one I said that starts with “L”
You know the word that turns my world
But this times it feels like hell
I hear your name everyday
Everyday I hear your name
You will hear it too on my bitter song
But just remember that I moved on
And it’s a warning to lovers everywhere
Just beware of a hit and run
Cause when love starts to leave
You’ll feel that heat
Like a Joshua tree
In the desert sun
Now I burn
I burn alone
No where to go
No place is home
Watch me burn
Watch me burn
Watch me burn
I burn alone
No place is home
No place is home
No place is home
No place is home
Love was here
Then I disappeared
What was it for
Don’t matter anymore
I was kissing a fraud
I was kissing a fraud
