Flexible work arrangements mooted for public servants

The federal government should allow public servants to work from anywhere at any time, a parliamentary committee has been told.

Put forward by a Blue Mountains-based community organisation, the proposal would follow United States government rules allowing federal employees to access telework provisions at any time.

Two students allegedly attacked by a baseball bat-wielding classmate on Friday have described their ordeal. 

Speaking to China's official news agency, one of the students described how she was allegedly hit on the arm as she tried to flee the lecture theatre.

A spooky new tour will take visitors on a torch-led journey through Old Parliament House to hear about the 90-year-old building's haunted past. 

Most reports of ghostly goings on in Old Parliament House come from those who work there during the witching hours – security guards and cleaners - with one employee so spooked after his shift he refused to go back to the building.

The Canberra Raiders are moving to lock up young gun Nick Cotric long-term after the winger enjoyed a breakout debut season.

Cotric comes off contract at the end of next season and the Raiders are already in talks to keep the frontrunner for the NRL's rookie of the year award in Canberra.
