The Pacific Northwest (in the United States, commonly abbreviated as PNW), sometimes referred to as Cascadia, is a region in western North America bounded by the Pacific Ocean to the west and, loosely, by the Rocky Mountains on the east. Though no agreed boundary exists, a common conception includes the U.S. states of Oregon and Washington and the Canadian province of British Columbia. Broader conceptions reach north into Alaska and Yukon, south into far Northern California and east into Idaho and Western Montana, western Wyoming, and western Alberta, to the Continental Divide. Narrower conceptions may be limited to the Northwestern U.S. or to the coastal areas west of the Cascade and Coast mountains. The variety of definitions can be attributed to partially overlapping commonalities of the region's history, geography, society, and other factors.
The Northwest Coast is the coastal regions of the Pacific Northwest and the Northwest Plateau (also commonly known as "The Interior" in British Columbia and the Inland Empire in the United States) is the inland regions. The term "Pacific Northwest" should not be confused with the Northwest Territory (also known as the Great Northwest, a historical term in the United States) or the Northwest Territories of Canada.
White noise is a signal or sound with a flat frequency spectrum.
White noise may also refer to:
The four cardinal directions or cardinal points are the directions of north, east, south, and west, commonly denoted by their initials: N, E, S, W. East and west are at right angles to north and south, with east being in the clockwise direction of rotation from north and west being directly opposite east. Intermediate points between the four cardinal directions form the points of the compass. The intermediate (intercardinal, or ordinal) directions are northeast (NE), southeast (SE), southwest (SW), and northwest (NW). Further, the intermediate direction of every set of intercardinal and cardinal direction is called a secondary-intercardinal direction, the eight shortest points in the compass rose to the right, i.e. NNE, ENE, ESE, and so on.
To keep to a bearing is not, in general, the same as going in a straight direction along a great circle. Conversely, one can keep to a great circle and the bearing may change. Thus the bearing of a straight path crossing the North Pole changes abruptly at the Pole from North to South. When travelling East or West, it is only on the Equator that one can keep East or West and be going straight (without need to steer). Anywhere else, maintaining latitude requires a change in direction, requires steering. However, this change in direction becomes increasingly negligible as one moves to lower latitudes.
The Pacific Ocean is the largest of the Earth's oceanic divisions. It extends from the Arctic Ocean in the north to the Southern Ocean (or, depending on definition, to Antarctica) in the south and is bounded by Asia and Australia in the west and the Americas in the east.
At 165.25 million square kilometers (63.8 million square miles) in area, this largest division of the World Ocean—and, in turn, the hydrosphere—covers about 46% of the Earth's water surface and about one-third of its total surface area, making it larger than all of the Earth's land area combined.
The equator subdivides it into the North Pacific Ocean and South Pacific Ocean, with two exceptions: the Galápagos and Gilbert Islands, while straddling the equator, are deemed wholly within the South Pacific. The Mariana Trench in the western North Pacific is the deepest point in the world, reaching a depth of 10,911 metres (35,797 ft).
The eastern Pacific Ocean was first sighted by Europeans in the early 16th century when Spanish explorer Vasco Núñez de Balboa crossed the Isthmus of Panama in 1513 and discovered the great "southern sea" which he named Mar del Sur. The ocean's current name was coined by Portuguese explorer Ferdinand Magellan during the Spanish circumnavigation of the world in 1521, as he encountered favourable winds on reaching the ocean. He called it Mar Pacifico, which in both Portuguese and Spanish means "peaceful sea".

Five years ago a 9.0 mag earthquake and tsunami devastated eastern Japan in 2011, and scientists say it's a question of when, not If, it happens here in the Pacific Northwest; research shows the region is overdue for a major quake. To prepare for a devastating natural disaster, officials are drawing up evacuation plans and greenlighting seismic upgrades. Don Dahler has a report on the efforts some communities are making.
After years of seeing imagery of the lush green trails from the Pacific Northwest have overwhelming influence on the media and culture of mountain biking, we decided it was time to go experience the rich, dark loam of the coastal regions for ourselves. So in the spring, we dusted off our trail bikes, packed up the rig and headed north to see what we could find. It's another rainy day in the Pacific Northwest. Three miles into an old growth forest in Washington State, rain pelts the trees and plants. It's a scene of peaceful tranquility. Viewing this from under the shelter of a fallen tree, it's a great opportunity to let stressful thoughts fade away and enter a relaxed state. Let the rain sounds help you get a great night of sleep. Use the white noise to study better and improve concentration while reading, writing or doing homework. Also, this sound may be helpful for providing temporary relief from tinnitus. Relax and enjoy :) Photographed with an iPhone 6s © Relaxing White Noise LLC, 2016. All rights reserved. Any reproduction or republication of all or part of this video/audio is prohibited.

Cascadia is an Alt-Right organization that promotes White ethnic consciousness in the Pacific Northwest. Cascadia members Cato IX, Jeffrey Fairwater, Herrenvolk, and Paige join us for an informative talk on their efforts to build an Alt-Right community in the Pacific Northwest. After going over Cascadia’s mission statement, we learn about the organization’s vetting process, which is designed to weed out undesirable applicants. Next, we discuss how Cascadia’s leadership came to be red-pilled. Jeffrey Fairwater then tells us about Cascadia’s demographics, which, outside of the major cities, are almost entirely White. The show also covers much more, including antifa’s presence in the Northwest, traditionalism, and Cascadia’s efforts to welcome Alt-Right women. Guests Website: http://truecas...
The Pacific Northwest Trail is unlike any other long distance trail. It’s founder, Ron Strickland has been developing it since the 1970‘s but it was only established as a National Scenic Trail in 2009. The trail is still very unknown and unestablished. Many local residents don’t even know that it passes through their backyard. In 2015 the PNT saw more than double the number of thru hikers it has seen in past years, but that number still only comes to somewhere between 35-75 hikers. The Appalachian Trail sees about 3000 thru hikers annually now and the Pacific Crest Trail sees about 2000. Most hikers begin the PNT at the eastern terminus at Chief Mountain in Glacier National Park in Montana. Hugging the Canadian border, the route takes us through the panhandle of Idaho, then across the en...
This rugged and naturally beautiful part of the country is also a bit of an enigma to outsiders, which is why Justin is compelled to go and meet the people, to see if the stereotype is true. That they are talented coffee drinking hipsters, that embrace technology (in fact, create a lot of it) while respecting the organic nature of the past. So from wooden bicycles, racing sailboat, pioneering architects and driving into the clouds, Justin gets stuck into the local scene and emerges with a fresh respect for the people and their skills.
