Snoqualmie National Forest is a United States National Forest in the State of Washington. It was established on 1 July 1908, when an area of 961,120 acres (3,889.52 km²) was split from the existing Washington National Forest. Its size was increased on 13 October 1933, when a part of Rainier National Forest was added. In 1974 Snoqualmie was administratively combined with Mount Baker National Forest to make Mount Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest. In descending order of land area, Snoqualmie National Forest lies in parts of King, Snohomish, Pierce, and Kittitas counties. There are local ranger district offices in North Bend and Skykomish. Its main base is in Everett, Washington. As of 30 September 2007, it had an area of 1,258,167 acres (5,091.62 km²), representing about 49 percent of the combined forest's total acreage.
There are seven officially designated wilderness areas within Snoqualmie National Forest that are part of the National Wilderness Preservation System. Two of them extend into neighboring National Forests (as indicated).
The Mount Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest in Washington is a National Forest extending more than 140 miles (230 km) along the western slopes of the Cascade Range from the Canadian border to the northern boundary of Mount Rainier National Park. Administered by the United States Forest Service, the forest is headquartered in Everett.
The Mount Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest covers (in descending order of forestland area) portions of Snohomish, Whatcom, Skagit, King, Pierce, and Kittitas counties. It has a total area of 1,724,229 acres (6,978 km2). The forest consists of four ranger districts. The following are listed geographically from north to south: the Mount Baker District has two ranger stations located in Glacier and Sedro-Woolley; the Darrington Ranger District has two ranger stations located in Darrington and Verlot; the Skykomish Ranger District has one ranger station located in Skykomish; and the Snoqualmie Ranger District has two ranger stations located in North Bend and Enumclaw.
Mount Baker (Lummi: Qwú’mə Kwəlshéːn; Nooksack: Kw’eq Smaenit or Kwelshán), also known as Koma Kulshan or simply Kulshan, is an activeglaciated andesitic stratovolcano in the Cascade Volcanic Arc and the North Cascades of Washington in the United States. Mount Baker has the second-most thermally active crater in the Cascade Range after Mount Saint Helens. About 31 miles (50 km) due east of the city of Bellingham, Whatcom County, Mount Baker is the youngest volcano in the Mount Baker volcanic field. While volcanism has persisted here for some 1.5 million years, the current glaciated cone is likely no more than 140,000 years old, and possibly no older than 80-90,000 years. Older volcanic edifices have mostly eroded away due to glaciation.
After Mount Rainier, Mount Baker is the most heavily glaciated of the Cascade Range volcanoes; the volume of snow and ice on Mount Baker, 0.43 cu mi (1.79 km3) is greater than that of all the other Cascades volcanoes (except Rainier) combined. It is also one of the snowiest places in the world; in 1999, Mount Baker Ski Area, located 14 km (8.7 mi) to the northeast, set the world record for recorded snowfall in a single season—1,140 in (2,900 cm).

Hoang and I went camping with our friends Elizabeth and Rosa in the Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest in Washington. We camped in a "dispersed" campsite, not in a big campground. It was a secluded site with no other campsites within 2 miles of us. Since it wasn't in an established campground we had no running water or bathrooms. And, since it was so dry this year there was a fire ban so no campfires; but we could use tent heaters and camp stoves. We hiked to Boardman Lake one of the days and explored the winding National Forest roads up to about 3000 feet. We had a great time.
After striking out on a campsite in North Cascades, we headed over to Mt. Baker/Snoqualmie National Forest and grabbed a dispersed free campsite. ...For more adventures www.mulehawk.com www.facebook.com/mulehawk www.instagram.com/mulehawkadventures

This video of Lake Evan was taken October 6, 2013. This is a medium size mountain lake off The Mountain Loop Highway of Washington State. Located between Granite Falls and Darrington at elevation 2751. It can be found on Forest Road 4020. You will see the signs on south side of The Mountain Loop Highway. This is a one lane forest road with pullouts so be careful driving up and down watching for other cars. This trail is .1 mile from the trailhead and .8 miles to Boardman Lake. You can easily carry in small kayaks, flotation types for fishing to Lake Evan.
Washington's Cascade Mountains in spring usually mean rain, rain and more rain. We got incredibly lucky and had near perfect weather for our trip in to the Greenwater Lakes. It was a 3 day - 2 night trip with our biggest group of the year so far!

Three backpacking hikes in Washington state: Mount Baker, in the Mount Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest; Enchanted Valley, in Olympic National Park; and Mother Mountain, in Mount Rainier National Park. Each outing includes a GPS record of the route traveled, with some of the features and topographic information plotted. 00:00-01:18 After a brief stopover in Seattle for last minute supplies at REI, I hit the trail. 01:19-09:46 The first hike was a two day, 8.25 mile round trip out-and-back jaunt up Mount Baker to Easton Glacier. From the Mount Baker Trailhead, I cross Schreiber’s Meadow, follow the Park Butte Trail, climb the steps of the Railroad Grade Trail, and then proceed up the glacial moraine rim past High Camp, Railroad Camp and Cathedral Camp, to Sandy Camp, at 6,100 feet above...
