Hanoi (/hæˈnɔɪ/ or US /həˈnɔɪ/; Vietnamese: Hà Nội [ha˨˩ nɔj˩]) is the capital of Vietnam and the country's second largest city. Its population in 2009 was estimated at 2.6 million for urban districts and 7 million for the metropolitan jurisdiction. The number of population in 2015 was estimated at 7.7 million people. From 1010 until 1802, it was the most important political centre of Vietnam. It was eclipsed by Huế, the imperial capital of Vietnam during the Nguyễn Dynasty (1802–1945), but Hanoi served as the capital of French Indochina from 1902 to 1954. From 1954 to 1976, it was the capital of North Vietnam, and it became the capital of a reunified Vietnam in 1976, after the North's victory in the Vietnam War.
The city lies on the right bank of the Red River. Hanoi is 1,760 km (1,090 mi) north of Ho Chi Minh City and 120 km (75 mi) west of Hai Phong city.
October 2010 officially marked 1000 years since the establishment of the city. The Hanoi Ceramic Mosaic Mural is a 4 km ceramic mosaic mural created to mark the occasion.
Street food is ready-to-eat food or drink sold by a hawker, or vendor, in a street or other public place, such as at a market or fair. It is often sold from a portable food booth, food cart, or food truck and meant for immediate consumption. Some street foods are regional, but many have spread beyond their region of origin. Most street foods are classed as both finger food and fast food, and are cheaper on average than restaurant meals. According to a 2007 study from the Food and Agriculture Organization, 2.5 billion people eat street food every day.
Today, people may purchase street food for a number of reasons, such as to get flavorful food for a reasonable price in a sociable setting, to experience ethnic cuisines, or for nostalgia.
Small fried fish were a street food in ancient Greece, however, Theophrastus held the custom of street food in low regard. Evidence of a large number of street food vendors were discovered during the excavation of Pompeii. Street food was widely consumed by poor urban residents of ancient Rome whose tenement homes did not have ovens or hearths. Here, chickpea soup with bread and grain paste were common meals. In ancient China, street food generally catered to the poor, however, wealthy residents would send servants to buy street food and bring it back for them to eat in their homes.
Hạ Long Bay (Vietnamese: Vịnh Hạ Long, listen, literally: "descending dragon bay") is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and a popular travel destination, in Quảng Ninh Province, Vietnam. Administratively, the bay belongs to Hạ Long City, Cẩm Phả town, and the part of Vân Đồn District. The bay features thousands of limestone karsts and isles in various sizes and shapes. Hạ Long Bay is a center of a larger zone which includes Bái Tử Long bay to the northeast, and Cát Bà islands to the southwest. These larger zones share similar geological, geographical, geomorphological, climate, and cultural characters.
Hạ Long Bay has an area of around 1,553 km2, including 1,960–2,000 islets, most of which are limestone. The core of the bay has an area of 334 km2 with a high density of 775 islets. The limestone in this bay has gone through 500 million years of formation in different conditions and environments. The evolution of the karst in this bay has taken 20 million years under the impact of the tropical wet climate. The geo-diversity of the environment in the area has created biodiversity, including a tropical evergreen biosystem, oceanic and sea shore biosystem. Hạ Long Bay is home to 14 endemic floral species and 60 endemic faunal species.

We visit the Weekend Night Market in Hanoi, Vietnam. After brief window shopping, we eat four rounds of Vietnamese food! We begin with Banh Troi Tau, a dessert made of rice balls with peanut and ginger soup. Who said you can't have dessert first? Round Two is Pho Ga (Vietnamese Chicken Noodle Soup) topped off with garlic and scallions. Then we try Banh Mi (Vietnamese Sandwich) stuffed with skewered meat. Different vendors have their own recipe. The one we have is a simple variation. We finish the day with a second round of dessert: Kem Xoi (Sticky Rice Ice Cream). Xin chao! We explored Hanoi, Vietnam for 2 full days before we headed to Ha Long Bay and Ho Chi Minh city (I'll do a separate vlog on that). The narrow streets, the crazy number of bikes and motorcycles on the road, the authentic Vietnamese pho and spring rolls, the strong Vietnamese coffee, the vendors in bikes and Vietnamese hats. Vietnam is rich in culture and we enjoyed every bit of it. Vietnam surprised me and exceeded all my expectations. I hope I was able to show you the crazy, chaotic beauty of Hanoi through this vlog. Enjoy! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Blog: http://dgmanila.com Twitter: ...
Traveling Vietnam: Hanoi to Halong Bay. Hey guys! Today we're taking you with us to Halong Bay. This is our last stop in Vietnam, before flying back to Bangkok and preparing for the next adventure... India. This was our first time exploring Halong Bay, I imagine many years ago it was a pristine wonder of the world. The limestone cliffs rising out of the emerald waters are awe-inspiring. Unfortunately the breathtakingly beautiful waterscape has been tainted, with trash... lots of it. Some areas were cleaner than others, the area we kayaked through was especially gorgeous. Ti Top island had a nice viewpoint, however, the beach itself was over crowded, and while there were many people swimming there, we opted to skip the swimming. One of highlights of the trip was exploring the cave. Whi...

Hanoi has changed so much in the last few years. Not only is the city become much more convenient (There are shops to buy clean water! hooray!) - People seem to be much friendlier and there was not a single city wide black out when we were there! Travel video about destination Ha Noi in Vietnam. Hanoi is North Vietnam’s lively capital city located in the north of the country and set amid the delta plains of the Red River. Compared to other southeast Asian cities that have developed into modern metropolis’ at breathtaking speed, Hanoi could be described as being a provincial city.In 1882 the French built their government offices around the city’s large Ho Hoan Kiem Lake. The city became the capital of French Indo China. The lake is surrounded by splendid old villas and public buildings. In the early morning several of the city’s inhabitants arrive to go about their traditional exercises. The Chua Mot Cot Pagoda is one of the oldest religious buildings in Hanoi, a temple built upon a single column in the centre of a small pond. Legen...
