The Chevrolet Volt is a plug-in hybrid manufactured by General Motors, also marketed in rebadged variants as the Holden Volt in Australia and New Zealand, and with a different fascia as the Vauxhall Ampera in the United Kingdom and as the Opel Ampera in the remainder of Europe.
Sales of the 2011 Volt began in the U.S. in mid-December 2010 followed by various European countries and other international markets in 2011. Global combined Volt/Ampera family sales passed the 100,000 unit milestone in October 2015, with the U.S. as the leading market with over 84,600 Volts delivered. As of September 2015, over 9,900 Opel/Vauxhall Ampera cars had been sold in Europe. The Netherlands is the world's second largest market, and leads the European region with almost 5,000 Amperas and over 1,000 Volts registered. Canada ranks next with over 5,000 Volts sold through October 2015. The Volt/Ampera family of vehicles is the world's all-time best-selling plug-in hybrid vehicle as of October 2015.

The Chevy Volt is unlike any car I've ever driven. For the first 50 miles it's an all-electric sedan with zero tailpipe emissions that you can recharge at home. Once the battery runs dry, though, the Volt keeps going on a four-cylinder gas generator that takes you the rest of the car's 420-mile range. So the Volt 2017 (which is nearly identical to the Volt 2016) exists somewhere between yesterday's world of internal combustion engines and tomorrow's world of full electrics – and whether you call that an E-REV or a PHEV, it's a pretty exciting place to be. The first generation Chevrolet Volt reveled in futurism. With a more traditional look this time around, Chevy hopes to attract a new breed of buyers who want an eco-friendly commuter without the ultra-modern pretense. Charge Point usually has a pretty heavy duty tether that pulls against the Chevy Volt's charging point. It puts unnecessary stress on the port. I tried using a plastic s-hook to give the cable some slack, became it was a hassle finding it when i needed to use it. But i found a better way to just run the cable under the front bumper and wedging the cord against the front tire. It doesnt hurt the cable or your tires. Hope this helps... Anyways hope this helps! 2016 Chevy Volt Review - Can It Go 53 Electric Miles? The second generation Chevy Volt features a larger battery and greater efficiency, yielding an all electric range of 53 miles before the engine has to kick on. Under the hood is a 1.5L I4 gasoline engine, which is used purely as a generator, and a 111 kW two-motor system is responsible for driving the front wheels. An 18.4 kW battery on board stores the electric juice. The question is, can the 2016 Volt make it 53 miles without the engine coming on? I put it to the test to find out! It’s a neat experience driving a quiet, smooth, high-tech pure electric car, and Chevrolet’s 2017 Volt provides this with no range or refuelling drawbacks. Uniquely, the "extended-range" electric car acts like a pure EV for all intents and purposes, but once its range – EPA-rated at 53 miles combined – runs out, it morphs into a 42 mpg hybrid able to be fueled at any gas pump. Here are some earlier animation tests I did for the Chevy Volt Relaunch spots at Gentleman Scholar. I thought it would be nice to just see the animation for the animation.
:30 cut down of the original :90 I directed for the launch of the Chevy Volt.
I directed this Chevy "Volt" launch project over the spring in collaboration with Publicis Seattle and Microsoft Kinect. The work was created in stereo 3D and repurposed for E3 and Cannes for the "Volt" / "Kinect" launch. The job was challenging on many levels due to the 3D stereo application and the XBOX 360 game engine component. Creatively it was very satisfying to collaborate with designer Alex Varanese. The world and composition are his vision, which you can see in print form on his sight. www.alexvaranese.com Check him out!
