On May Day we commemorate the past, but we also look to the future. There is no reason to be confident in capitalist economic recovery. There are many reasons to struggle against the horrors of oppression, unemployment, environmental devastation and war that capitalism dishes up. Workers can solve these problems for good. We can make a revolution and, as we do, the mass democratic workers' organisations we create will be the basis of the new society, worldwide. In this new society, each will contribute according to their ability and each receive according to their need. We will have no need of a State apparatus to enforce the dictates of a privileged elite. We will live a life of peace, freedom and equality. We have nothing to lose but our chains. read full story / add a comment

Για μας, η εργατική πρωτομαγιά είναι μια υπόμνηση ότι αυτή η μάχη ξεκινάει από την κοινωνική βάση, από τους εκμεταλλευόμενους εναντίον των εκμεταλλευτών της, αριστερών και δεξιών αφεντικών, μικρών και μεγάλων, σοσιαλιστικών και δεξιών κρατών, δικαστών, μπάτσων και ανθρωποφυλάκων. Είναι, ακόμα, η υπενθύμιση ότι σε αυτόν τον αγώνα δεν είμαστε μόνοι. Δίπλα σε εμάς, τους ντόπιους και μετανάστες εργάτες στην Ελλάδα, στέκονται οι Τούρκοι και Κούρδοι αγωνιστές, οι εξεγερμένοι του Στάντινγκ Ροκ, οι Βούλγαροι αντιφασίστες, οι Ζαπατίστας, οι Παλαιστίνιοι απεργοί πείνας, οι αναρχικοί που βρίσκονται μέσα στα τείχη των φυλακών, όσοι σε κάθε γωνιά του πλανήτη αντιλαμβάνονται ότι ο αγώνας τελειώνει εκεί που ξεκινάει η αταξική κοινωνία. read full story / add a comment

Let us learn from our past struggles, in the USA and in Malaysia. May Day should be an occasion to reflect not jubilate, to engage not agonize, to demand not relent, and to organise, not complain. We need systemic change that can guarantee equality, fraternity, self-management and socialisation of the commonwealth, guided by a bottom–up approach to decision making. We need a labour movement that is multicultural and international, feminist, active in urban and rural struggles, and that prizes reason over superstition, justice over hierarchy, self-management over state power, international solidarity over nationalism. We need to fight for a universal human community, not parochialism and separatism. The organisational power and strategic location of the Malaysian union movement provides an excellent point of departure for building this counter-movement. This is our appeal and message as we celebrate this May Day, on the eve of dark days in which the storm clouds gather over humanity – but in which the light of hope of a better future can break through, if we arm ourselves with the correct ideas and approaches. May Day began as an example of globalisation-from-below. Let us rally to it. Let us take back its original vision: liberty, equality, unity. read full story / add a comment

April 28 is a day of nation-wide mobilization against the austerity measures and fiscal adjustments of that are eroding workers’ rights. Demonstrations and a general strike will be occurring, led by those who are being oppressed in Brazil, especially workers. We know that the effectiveness of these actions depend on the participation of the base in the preparation and organization. The strength of workers lies in direct action — the strike, the picket, the interruption of traffic, the march — in the workplace, in schools, and in neighborhoods; progress has stagnated in the summits convened by central unions that have capitulated to “business as usual” and ceased to be effective in their bureaucratic routines, congressional negotiations, and lobbying.

Secondo le ultime informazioni, 26 aerei turchi hanno bombardato Amûd e Geliyê Kersê nel Şengal/Sinjar. Il bombardamento è ancora in corso.
