Traffic back to normal after Bridge to Brisbane fun run

With all inner-city roads reopened following a fun run, traffic in the city was back to normal by lunchtime on Sunday.

The Story Bridge was closed until lunchtime, making traffic in the inner city heavy by mid-morning.

The road was closed for the Bridge to Brisbane running race, with a number of Brisbane CBD roads also closed for the duration of the event.

Earlier, Australian Traffic Network’s Olympia Kwitowski said traffic had only started to build after 9am.

While the Riverside Expressway was looking good, Kwitowski said traffic was picking up from the west and north into the city.

Coronation Drive had “really heavy delays” inbound from Toowong to the city and Boundary Street in Spring Hill was heavy into the city.

On the Northside, traffic on Barry Parade was heavy with plenty of people trying to get onto the Story Bridge, and Kelvin Grove Road and Musgrave Road were “really heavy” inbound as well, Kwitoswki said.

Most CBD streets had reopened by 9am, but some would remain shut until about noon, including the Story Bridge.

Thousands of people took part in the 10km Bridge to Brisbane fun run, including Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk who participated in 5km event.
