Jared Tolson, of the city of Homewood in Alabama, allegedly tried to get a 13-year-old boy from the neighbouring city of Gardendale to send him sexually explicit videos after befriending him online, said Gardendale Police Department.
He was arrested after the child’s parents learnt of the request.
Tolson allegedly had been tracking the boy using various social media accounts as he built a relationship with the young teenager.
“This is a warning for all parents to monitor their children’s social media,” Gardendale police said.
“Tolson was following everything this family was placing on various social media sites.”
Cops charged Tolson with solicitation to produce child pornography and solicitation to disseminate child pornography.
He was jailed on $45,000 bond.
