'He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother' é desses clássicos que não nos cansamos de ouvir. Dona de algumas histórias para explicar sua criação, a canção traz em sua composição uma mensagem importante para o homem contemporâneo cercado em seu próprio mundo, incapaz, muitas vezes, de olhar o outro como um irmão, ou até mesmo, como um igual.
A música He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother, 1969, interpretada originalmente por Kelly Gordon e escrita por Bobby Scott e Russell Bob, ficou conhecida no mundo inteiro depois de gravada pelo grupo The Hollies no final do mesmo ano, foi regravada também por Neil Diamond, no ano seguinte. Em 2001, retornou no filme Zoolander, e em março de 2013, uma versão feita por um guitarrista e vocalista da dupla pop sueca Roxette, Per Gessle, foi incluída no filme Apartamentos Pequenos.
Conta-se que houve um fato muito emblemático que inspirou a canção: no orfanato Missão dos Órfãos, em Washington DC, um padre que cuidava do plantão da noite ouviu alguém bater na porta, caía muita neve lá fora e, ao abrir a porta, o padre deparou-se com dois meninos cobertos de neve e com aparência de fome e fragilidade típica dos meninos de rua.
O padre sensibilizado os mandou entrar e reparando que um deles, o maior, carregava o outro que era menor nas costas disse: ele deve ser muito pesado – e o menino que carregava o outro sem hesitar respondeu: ele não é um peso, ele é meu irmão! (He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother). O que mais tarde daria aos autores o título da canção. Eles foram acolhidos no orfanato e, na verdade, não eram irmãos de sangue.
A história da frase que originou a música, no entanto, não é pacífica. Em 1924, por exemplo, o editor da Revista Kiwanis, Roe Fulkerson, publicou uma coluna usando a frase como título. The Olinto PJ is influenced by Fender’s famous 1963 design. The body is alder, and our tester was coated in a dark, Lake Placid blue finish protected by nitrocellulose lacquer. The complex color frames the gold pickguard beautifully. It’s an eye-catching combination.
Traditional P-bass bodies block access to the truss rod, and the neck bolts must be loosened to make adjustments. But here, lifting the pickguard reveals a small body cavity for truss-rod access. This is a thoughtful solution, though you must still remove the pickguard.
The hand-carved, flat-sawn maple neck is coated in nitro lacquer. A Madagascar rosewood fretboard provides classic looks and an environmentally friendly alternative to Brazilian rosewood. The classic motif continues with a C-shaped neck and a period-correct 7.25" radius. Other features include a 1.625" bone nut, 20 vintage-style frets, a Hipshot Vintage bridge, and Hipshot HB3 reverse tuners. The Aguilar AG 4P/J-HC pickups are hum-cancelling. They provide familiar timbres, but are free of 60-cycle hum.

Bad Girl (La Toya Jackson album)
Bad Girl (recorded in 1989, released in 1990) is the sixth studio album by American singer La Toya Jackson. The album was also released as He's My Brother, Sexual Feeling, Playboy (Be My), Why Don't You Want My Love? and Be My Lover.
Album information
The album was recorded in 1989 under Teldec Records in Germany, and was supposed to be released in August 1989 under the title On My Own, featuring ten tracks. Disagreements between Jackson's management and Teldec Records caused a cancellation of the album. Sherman Records purchased the album, added two additional Jackson songs - "Sexual Feeling", recorded in Italy, and "You And Me", recorded in Sweden - retitled the album Bad Girl, and finally released it in 1990. Since then the recording has been licensed to countless small record labels, who have released the album under many different titles. Some issues of the albums exclude the tracks "Do the Salsa" or "Piano Man".
The Bad Girl album is one of the few albums in Jackson's back catalogue that is still in print today, and it continues to be re-released under many different covers and names. The album is among her most well-known due to its wide availability.

Ocean Wave
Ocean Wave (born 1940) was an American Thoroughbred racehorse who was a main rival of Count Fleet in the early 1940s. Owned by Calumet Farm, he was trained by Ben Jones. and owned by Warren Wright, Ocean Wave was the son of Blenheim and Columbiana. He developed into a come from behind threat as a two-year-old and a three-year-old.
Noteworthy achievements
In a six furlong event at Aqueduct Racetrack on September 18, 1942, Ocean Wave won a race despite the deep footing and sloppy conditions. Running against Hyperion, a speedy colt, he lost much ground coming into the stretch. It cost him the lead but he overtook Sea Fare and won by three lengths. Ocean Wave's winning time was 1:12 flat.
On October 9, 1942, Ocean Wave won the Balladier Purse down the Widener chute at Belmont Park. As the favorite in a field of ten, he won by five lengths, completing the six furlongs in 1:10 flat. He came within 4/5 of a second of the track record.
In the $2,765 Sagamore Handicap at Pimlico Race Course on November 5, 1942, Ocean Wave came from behind to win. This triumph was achieved in competition against five other two-year-olds. He covered the six furlongs in a time of 1:12 2/5.

The Mari family has been manufacturing strings for well over 350 years, and they’ve tested their products on a lot of instruments. Their electric bass strings—particularly their flatwounds—are many a player’s partner for P-style instruments. Enter the new Olinto PJ bass. It represents both La Bella’s familiarity with the Precision and the ingenuity of luthier Mas Hino. The Olinto PJ is influenced by Fender’s famous 1963 design. The body is alder, and our tester was coated in a dark, Lake Placid blue finish protected by nitrocellulose lacquer. The complex color frames the gold pickguard beautifully. It’s an eye-catching combination. Traditional P-bass bodies block access to the truss rod, and the neck bolts must be loosened to make adjustments. But here, lifting the pickguard reveals a small body cavity for truss-rod access. This is a thoughtful solution, though you must still remove the pickguard. The hand-carved, flat-sawn maple neck is coated in nitro lacquer. A Madagascar rosewood fretboard provides classic looks and an environmentally friendly alternative to Brazilian rosewood. The classic motif continues with a C-shaped neck and a period-correct 7.25" radius. Other features include a 1.625" bone nut, 20 vintage-style frets, a Hipshot Vintage bridge, and Hipshot HB3 reverse tuners. The Aguilar AG 4P/J-HC pickups are hum-cancelling. 'He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother' é desses clássicos que não nos cansamos de ouvir. Dona de algumas histórias para explicar sua criação, a canção traz em sua composição uma mensagem importante para o homem contemporâneo cercado em seu próprio mundo, incapaz, muitas vezes, de olhar o outro como um irmão, ou até mesmo, como um igual.
A música He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother, 1969, interpretada originalmente por Kelly Gordon e escrita por Bobby Scott e Russell Bob, ficou conhecida no mundo inteiro depois de gravada pelo grupo The Hollies no final do mesmo ano, foi regravada também por Neil Diamond, no ano seguinte. Em 2001, retornou no filme Zoolander, e em março de 2013, uma versão feita por um guitarrista e vocalista da dupla pop sueca Roxette, Per Gessle, foi incluída no filme Apartamentos Pequenos.
Conta-se que houve um fato muito emblemático que inspirou a canção: no orfanato Missão dos Órfãos, em Washington DC, um padre que cuidava do plantão da noite ouviu alguém bater na porta, caía muita neve lá fora e, ao abrir a porta, o padre deparou-se com dois meninos cobertos de neve e com aparência de fome e fragilidade típica dos meninos de rua.
O padre sensibilizado os mandou entrar e reparando que um deles, o maior, carregava o outro que era menor nas costas disse: ele deve ser muito pesado – e o menino que carregava o outro sem hesitar respondeu: ele não é um peso, ele é meu irmão! (He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother). O que mais tarde daria aos autores o título da canção. Eles foram acolhidos no orfanato e, na verdade, não eram irmãos de sangue.
A história da frase que originou a música, no entanto, não é pacífica. Em 1924, por exemplo, o editor da Revista Kiwanis, Roe Fulkerson, publicou uma coluna usando a frase como título. Em 1918, Ralph Waldo Trine em uma publicação sua chamada The Higher Powers of Mind and Spirit (Os poderes superiores da mente e espírito) conta a história de uma menina escocesa que levava outro menino tão grande quanto ela nas costas, quando alguém observou, ela prontamente respondeu: não é pesado, é meu irmão.

Why would a reputable string company like La Bella jump into the crowded sea of bass production? The Mari family has been manufacturing strings for well over 350 years, and they’ve tested their products on a lot of instruments. Their electric bass strings—particularly their flatwounds—are many a player’s partner for P-style instruments.
Enter the new Olinto PJ bass. It represents both La Bella’s familiarity with the Precision and the ingenuity of luthier Mas Hino.
The Olinto PJ is influenced by Fender’s famous 1963 design. The body is alder, and our tester was coated in a dark, Lake Placid blue finish protected by nitrocellulose lacquer. The complex color frames the gold pickguard beautifully. It’s an eye-catching combination.
Traditional P-bass bodies block access to the truss rod, and the neck bolts must be loosened to make adjustments. But here, lifting the pickguard reveals a small body cavity for truss-rod access. This is a thoughtful solution, though you must still remove the pickguard.
The hand-carved, flat-sawn maple neck is coated in nitro lacquer. A Madagascar rosewood fretboard provides classic looks and an environmentally friendly alternative to Brazilian rosewood. The classic motif continues with a C-shaped neck and a period-correct 7.25" radius. Other features include a 1.625" bone nut, 20 vintage-style frets, a Hipshot Vintage bridge, and Hipshot HB3 reverse tuners. The Aguilar AG 4P/J-HC pickups are hum-cancelling. They provide familiar timbres, but are free of 60-cycle hum.

O padre sensibilizado os mandou entrar e reparando que um deles, o maior, carregava o outro que era menor nas costas disse: ele deve ser muito pesado – e o menino que carregava o outro sem hesitar respondeu: ele não é um peso, ele é meu irmão! Why would a reputable string company like La Bella jump into the crowded sea of bass production? The Mari family has been manufacturing strings for well over 350 years, and they’ve tested their products on a lot of instruments. Their electric bass strings—particularly their flatwounds—are many a player’s partner for P-style instruments.
Enter the new Olinto PJ bass. It represents both La Bella’s familiarity with the Precision and the ingenuity of luthier Mas Hino.
The Olinto PJ is influenced by Fender’s famous 1963 design. The body is alder, and our tester was coated in a dark, Lake Placid blue finish protected by nitrocellulose lacquer. The complex color frames the gold pickguard beautifully. It’s an eye-catching combination.
Traditional P-bass bodies block access to the truss rod, and the neck bolts must be loosened to make adjustments. But here, lifting the pickguard reveals a small body cavity for truss-rod access. This is a thoughtful solution, though you must still remove the pickguard.
The hand-carved, flat-sawn maple neck is coated in nitro lacquer. A Madagascar rosewood fretboard provides classic looks and an environmentally friendly alternative to Brazilian rosewood. The classic motif continues with a C-shaped neck and a period-correct 7.25" radius. Other features include a 1.625" bone nut, 20 vintage-style frets, a Hipshot Vintage bridge, and Hipshot HB3 reverse tuners. The Aguilar AG 4P/J-HC pickups are hum-cancelling. They provide familiar timbres, but are free of 60-cycle hum.

A master percussionist, bandleader, producer and songwriter, Scott Kettneris the guiding force behind Nation Beat, a band whose teeming, vibrant rhythms find common ground in the primal maracatu of Brazil's Pernambuco region, the Big Easy's funky, hypnotic second-line and strolling Mardi Gras Indians, and the unfettered freedom of big-city downtown jazz. For Kettner, the discovery of maracatu, an indigenous Brazilian rhythm, albeit one not ascelebrated internationally as samba and bossa nova, was a life-changing experience.
Besides leading Nation Beat, Scott also launched a school in Brooklyn, Maracatu New York, in order to alert others to what he'd learned. He's also written a book on the rhythms of Northeastern Brazil, done workshops and lectures in numerous universities, and is an adjunct faculty member at the New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music.

The Eyes of the Entrepreneurs series is dedicated to empowering artists to cultivate an entrepreneurial mindset in taking responsibility for their art and their career.
