Video of cyclist hit on Canberra's Northbourne Avenue

Dramatic dashboard video footage has captured the moment a Canberra cyclist was knocked to the ground at one of the city's busiest intersections.

The video, posted on the popular Canberra Drivers Facebook page, shows the incident at the intersection of Northbourne Avenue and Barry Drive during Thursday's evening rush hour.

A cyclist is seen riding in the left outbound lane at 5.35pm, when he is hit by a careless driver in a silver sedan turning left into Barry Drive.

After falling to the ground, the cyclist approaches the car and confronts the driver through the passenger side door.

Traffic in the area briefly stopped as the cyclist left the road.

The page reminds drivers on Northbourne Avenue to check for cyclists in the left lane before turning and suggests "more diligence required from both parties."

The cyclist appeared to be uninjured by the incident. It isn't clear from the footage if the car was indicating ahead of making the turn.

An ACT Policing spokeswoman said police were not called to attend the incident.
