Careers Pathways in Horticulture and Permaculture
Inner North Foundation have funded CERES in 2016-2017 to offer individual career pathways support in horticulture and permaculture. CERES offers a range of Horticulture and Permaculture courses (accredited, pre-accredited, fee-for-service) and volunteering opportunities (Site Maintenance, Propagation) for those looking to make lifestyle and career changes, for those simply wanting to learn more and connect with like-minded individuals in their local community as well as for those who are exploring opportunities to reconnect with more formalised training and develop employment pathways.
- interested in exploring training and employment opportunities in the Horticulture and/or Permaculture sector
- who are currently underemployed or unemployed
- have experienced barriers to participating in training, work experience programs or securing employment
- who would benefit from individualised support in Horticulture/Permaculture career pathways planning
Preference given to those residing in Moreland, Yarra & Darebin LGAs with funding generously provided by the Inner North Community Foundation. If you are not part of these municipalities you can also take part in career planning.

CERES created a new
Food Producer Incubator Program in 2015-2016 to give new arrivals and asylum seekers alternative education and employment pathways in food production and small business.
As part of the course we have honed the skills of budding young food makers and idea shakers. They now have skills and training in food safety, OHS, commercial kitchen operations, sustainable food systems, small business, creating food products, taking products to market and retail and fundraising.
The products created by participants exceeded our expectations and graduation celebrations warmed our hearts and inspired our minds. We sold products under the CERES E.A.T (Education & Training) brand.
