Major drug bust uncovers cocaine, MDMA, gun and cash

Police have seized nearly three kilos of MDMA, cocaine, methamphetamine, cash and a firearm following a series of search warrants in Perth's eastern suburbs on Wednesday.

Kensington Detectives and Organised Crime Squad officers seized the vast array of drugs on Wednesday morning.

Police searched two locations as part of the operation.

One location was a hire car near Great Eastern Highway in Belmont.

Police say a member of the public reported finding drugs and a gun in the hire car, a Toyota Corolla, that was being used by a 30-year-old Lathlain man.

Officers then raided a home in nearby Cornwall Street in Lathlain.

Detectives spent a considerable amount of time searching the home and collecting evidence on Wednesday.

All up police seized 2.8kg of ecstasy powder and pills, 863g of amphetamines, 461g of cocaine, 187g of cannabis and about $70,000 in cash.

A Smith and Wesson hand gun and 31 rounds of ammunition was also seized.

Police have charged the 30-year-old Lathlain man over the drugs, gun and cash.

He is facing 13 charges including possess prohibited drug with intent to sell or supply and aggravated possession of an unlicensed firearm.

The man was denied bail and was due to face court on Thursday.

"This is a significant quantity of illicit drugs which was destined for sale on our streets but instead will now be destroyed," Organised Crime Squad Detective Senior Sergeant Michael Rowson said.
