Surrey is a city in British Columbia and it is one of the twenty-one municipalities that make up of Metro Vancouver. It is a city with about 400,000 residents, about half of which are of Asian descent. It has six town centers (Fleetwood, Guildford, Newton, Whalley, Cloverdale, and South Surrey) and it is home to Simon Fraser University's third campus.
The Surrey Museum is one of Surrey's most notable landmarks while its largest festival is that of WinterFest. It is a one-day outdoor festival full of music, food and winter activities. The Cloverdale Rodeo and Country Fair held here annually in Surrey is also quite known and it is a family festival that celebrates agriculture, cowboys and the spring.
Some notable people that have grown up in Surrey are Colin Fraser of the LA Kings (NHL), Gordon Rice (a famous west coast Canadian artist) and Ranj Dhaliwal (a contemporary best-selling Canadian author).
