In this video we'll study Genesis chapter 10, verses 21-32. This video covers a portion of the Table of Nations, but before we get into the names of the sons of Shem (or Shem's descendants), I address another issue while we're here. I try to explain how Shem's first three sons could have been born within "two years after the flood" (Genesis 11:10), but first I must answer the question, "Were there children on the ark?" After all of that, we continue on in the Table of Nations, where we go over an old idea about the origin of the word "Hebrew", and I explain why I believe I might have been wrong in the last video about where the "queen of the south" came from (Matthew 12:42). The origins of Syria, the Eberites (or Hebrews), the first Arabs, and more are mentioned in this part of scripture.
Note: All scripture texts in this video are from the American Standard Version (1901), unless otherwise specified. Sometimes verse numbers are excluded, text reformatted, grammatical errors corrected, and so on for easier reading.

This is the book of the generations of Adam. In the day when God created man, He made him in the likeness of God. He created them male and female, and He blessed them and named them Man in the day when they were created.
When Adam had lived one hundred and thirty years, he became the father of a son in his own likeness, according to his image, and named him Seth. Then the days of Adam after he became the father of Seth were eight hundred years, and he had other sons and daughters. So all the days that Adam lived were nine hundred and thirty years, and he died.
Seth lived one hundred and five years, and became the father of Enosh. Then Seth lived eight hundred and seven years after he became the father of Enosh, and he had other sons and daughters. So all the days of Seth were nine hundred and twelve years, and he died.

Mahalalel lived sixty-five years, and became the father of Jared. Then Mahalalel lived eight hundred and thirty years after he became the father of Jared, and he had other sons and daughters. So all the days of Mahalalel were eight hundred and ninety-five years, and he died.
Jared lived one hundred and sixty-two years, and became the father of Enoch. Then Jared lived eight hundred years after he became the father of Enoch, and he had other sons and daughters. So all the days of Jared were nine hundred and sixty-two years, and he died.
Enoch lived sixty-five years, and became the father of Methuselah. Then Enoch walked with God three hundred years after he became the father of Methuselah, and he had other sons and daughters. So all the days of Enoch were three hundred and sixty-five years. Enoch walked with God; and he was not, for God took him.
25Methuselah lived one hundred and eighty-seven years, and became the father of Lamech. 26Then Methuselah lived seven hundred and eighty-two years after he became the father of Lamech, and he had other sons and daughters. So all the days of Methuselah were nine hundred and sixty-nine years, and he died. Lamech lived one hundred and eighty-two years, and became the father of a son. Now he called his name Noah, saying, “This one will give us rest from our work and from the toil of our hands arising from the ground which the LORD has cursed.” Then Lamech lived five hundred and ninety-five years after he became the father of Noah, and he had other sons and daughters. So all the days of Lamech were seven hundred and seventy-seven years, and he died.
Noah was five hundred years old, and Noah became the father of Shem, Ham, and Japheth.

House of Shem hail from Aotearoa, New Zealand and like many legendary reggae groups this band is built around the classic harmony trio format. At the helm is Carl Perkins, a man with over thirty years experience writing and playing reggae music. As a former member of Herbs, Mana and the Twelve Tribes of Israel Band amongst others, Carls musical credentials are impeccable. Joining him up front are two of his sons, Te Omeka and Isaiah who not only provide harmonies but both of whom also write, take turns at singing lead and play keyboards as well. Like other popular local whanau-based outfits Kora and Katchafire, it is this blood link and family bond that renders the sound of their combined voices as something really extraordinary. Each of the three has their own distinct song writing style and voice, effectively giving the band three different lead singers. The harmonies are sublime and the precision of their ensemble performance is phenomenal. Credit must also go to the rhythm section certainly one of the tightest you are ever likely to hear, with Kaya Webster who is a one-drop prodigy, having played drums for the Twelve Tribes of Israel Band since he was of primary school age and Frances Harawira, a heavy-duty bassist also formerly of the T.T.I. Band and Token Village. Rounding out the sound is the exceptionally gifted guitarist Roy Venkataraman a seasoned veteran himself who toured and played with The Wailers band for a number of years and the soul infused horns of Chris Nielson on sax and trumpet.

Shem
Shem (/ʃɛm/; Hebrew: שֵׁם, Modern Shem, Tiberian Šēm; Greek: Σημ Sēm; Ge'ez: ሴም, Sēm; "renown; prosperity; name"; Arabic: سام Sām) was one of the sons of Noah in the Hebrew Bible as well as in Islamic literature. Genesis 10:21 refers to relative ages of Shem and his brother Japheth, but with sufficient ambiguity to have yielded different English translations. The verse is translated in the KJV as "Unto Shem also, the father of all the children of Eber, the brother of Japheth the elder, even to him were children born.". However, the New American Standard Bible gives, "Also to Shem, the father of all the children of Eber, and the older brother of Japheth, children were born."
Genesis 11:10 records that Shem was 100 years old at the birth of Arphaxad, two years after the flood; and that he lived for another 500 years after this, making his age at death 600 years.
The children of Shem were Elam, Asshur, Arphaxad, Lud and Aram, in addition to daughters. Abraham, the patriarch of the Hebrews and Arabs, was one of the descendants of Arphaxad.

House of Shem
House of Shem is a roots reggae band from New Zealand. They have had songs featured on the Conscious Roots compilations. In May 2008, their debut album, Keep Rising was released throughout New Zealand. It was released again in April 2009 throughout Australia and Hawaii.
In April 2010, House of Shem started recording their second album Island Vibration with engineer and producer Errol Brown who has worked with many well known reggae bands and artists such as Alton Ellis, Bob Marley & The Wailers, Gregory Isaacs, Peter Tosh and Ziggy Marley and The Melody Makers. The album was released in New Zealand on 14 February 2011.
In 2013 they released their third album, Harmony, on which they worked with Jamaican engineer Errol Brown.

The Voice (TV series)
The Voice is a reality television singing competition franchise. It is based on the reality singing competition The Voice of Holland, which was originally created by Dutch television producer John de Mol. Many other countries have adapted the format and began airing their own versions since 2011. It has become a rival to the Idols franchise and The X Factor.
History
John de Mol, creator of Big Brother, first created The Voice concept with Dutch singer Roel van Velzen. The show distinguishes itself as different from The X Factor and Idols as The Voice primarily focuses on singing ability and prowess of an artist alone.
On September 17, 2010, The Voice of Holland began to air on RTL 4 with Angela Groothuizen, Roel van Velzen, Nick & Simon, and Jeroen van der Boom as the mentor-judges (dubbed as "coaches") of the show. The show proved to be an instant success in the Netherlands.
The format was later sold to different countries.
Format
Contestants are aspiring singers drawn from public auditions. The show's format features four stages of competition. The first is the blind auditions, in which the four coaches, all noteworthy recording artists, listen to the contestants in chairs facing away from the stage so as to avoid seeing them. If a coach likes what they hear from that contestant, they press a button to rotate their chairs to signify that they are interested in working with that contestant. If more than one coach presses their button, the contestant chooses the coach he or she wants to work with. The blind auditions end when each coach has a set number of contestants to work with. Coaches will dedicate themselves to developing their singers mentally, musically and in some cases physically, giving them advice, and sharing the secrets of their success.

The Origin
The Origin is an opera/oratorio composed by Richard Einhorn to a libretto by Richard Einhorn and Catherine Barnett based on the writings of Charles Darwin. The oratorio takes its title from Darwin's 1859 On the Origin of Species. The work was commissioned by the Artswego program and the Music Department of State University of New York at Oswego for the worldwide Darwin Bicentennial. The Origin had its world premiere on 6 February 2009 at the university's Waterman Theatre.
Premiere performance
The premiere performance of The Origin was conducted by Julie Pretzat and featured soprano Jacqueline Horner from the a cappella quartet, Anonymous 4; tenor Todd Graber; bass Eric Johnson; the women's vocal ensemble, Kitka; the SUNY Oswego College Choir; Oswego College-Community Orchestra; and the Oswego Festival Chorus. Of the over 200 performers, about 80 were students at SUNY Oswego. The projected video images which served as a backdrop to the performance were by filmmaker Bill Morrison.

House of Shem hail from Aotearoa, New Zealand and like many legendary reggae groups this band is built around the classic harmony trio format. At the helm is Carl Perkins, a man with over thirty years experience writing and playing reggae music. As a former member of Herbs, Mana and the Twelve Tribes of Israel Band amongst others, Carls musical credentials are impeccable. Joining him up front are two of his sons, Te Omeka and Isaiah who not only provide harmonies but both of whom also write, take turns at singing lead and play keyboards as well. Like other popular local whanau-based outfits Kora and Katchafire, it is this blood link and family bond that renders the sound of their combined voices as something really extraordinary. Each of the three has their own distinct song writing style and voice, effectively giving the band three different lead singers. The harmonies are sublime and the precision of their ensemble performance is phenomenal. Credit must also go to the rhythm section certainly one of the tightest you are ever likely to hear, with Kaya Webster who is a one-drop prodigy, having played drums for the Twelve Tribes of Israel Band since he was of primary school age and Frances Harawira, a heavy-duty bassist also formerly of the T.T.I. Band and Token Village. Plot: John the Baptist, born to an elderly couple in answer to their prayers and a promise from God, grows up to be a prophet, preaching of the coming of the messiah. The moving story of John the Baptist begins as Elizabeth, a virtuous older woman who longs for a child, delights in watching a young boy playing outside her window. Her husband Zacharias, chosen to offer incense to God at the temple, is visited there by the Angel Gabriel who tells him that his wife is to bear a son. Zacharias can't believe this miracle but the angels assures him," All things are possible with the Lord." Because of his disbelief, Zacharias suddenly falls deaf and mute, unable to tell his family and neighbors what happened to him. When Elizabeth's son is born and family members ask his name, she answers " John " a name they refuse to accept since none among them share it. The family asks Zacharias his son's name and as he writes "John" on a tablet, his hearing and speech are restored, and he shares with them prophecy of the role his son is to play. John grows up to be strong in both body and spirit, living a humble life on the banks of the River Jordan. He preaches of the imminent coming of a savior, and baptizes people in the river in the name of the messiah, preparing the way for Jesus. All of this proves disturbing to the Pharisees and their leader, Caiaphas, who tries to convince King Herod*. The King is reluctant but not his wife, Herodias. Even when Pharisee spies question John as he preaches of the repentance, he does not temper his word, calling Herod a sinner for taking his brother's wife. This accusation drives Herodias to demand John's capture and death but before this happens, Jesus approaches the place where John is preaching. "Behold, the lamb of God", John cries out, recognizing the savior about whom he has been preaching. Jesus asks John to Baptize him and when that happens, the heavens open and the Holy Spirit appears in the form of a dove. Even though his life is in danger from Herodias and Herod, John refuses to flee, declaring," My work is done".

House of Shem hail from Aotearoa, New Zealand and like many legendary reggae groups this band is built around the classic harmony trio format. At the helm is Carl Perkins, a man with over thirty years experience writing and playing reggae music. As a former member of Herbs, Mana and the Twelve Tribes of Israel Band amongst others, Carls musical credentials are impeccable. Joining him up front are two of his sons, Te Omeka and Isaiah who not only provide harmonies but both of whom also write, take turns at singing lead and play keyboards as well. Like other popular local whanau-based outfits Kora and Katchafire, it is this blood link and family bond that renders the sound of their combined voices as something really extraordinary. Each of the three has their own distinct song writing style and voice, effectively giving the band three different lead singers. The harmonies are sublime and the precision of their ensemble performance is phenomenal. Credit must also go to the rhythm section certainly one of the tightest you are ever likely to hear, with Kaya Webster who is a one-drop prodigy, having played drums for the Twelve Tribes of Israel Band since he was of primary school age and Frances Harawira, a heavy-duty bassist also formerly of the T.T.I. Band and Token Village. Rounding out the sound is the exceptionally gifted guitarist Roy Venkataraman a seasoned veteran himself who toured and played with The Wailers band for a number of years and the soul infused horns of Chris Nielson on sax and trumpet.

Tel Aviv’s Red Axes are back on I’m a Cliché for the second instalment in their ongoing SHEM series.
On this EP, four tracks that take different directions to reach the duo’s signature sound while expanding the horizons of their already impressive production abilities.
A1 - SHEM
A hypnotic track driven by a simple, functional rhythm. Melodies,
percussion, and sparse vocals give a distinctively human feel to the track’s mechanical vibe. With brilliant use of space and subtle melodic variations, this track is reminiscent both of cosmic music and of timeless film scores in the spirit of Ennio Morricone's work.
A2 - OH KEY
Guitars, live percussion, synths and keyboards: this track is a throwback to Red Axes’ early sound. With a hazy, slightly narcotic atmosphere thanks to the dance-inducing rhythm section and swirling guitar melodies, this is a fine piece of underwater surf rock whose potential in a club context must not be underestimated.
B1 - SWEET JOHN GANG
If you’ve ever wondered what’s the sound of an agogo rainfall, this is it. On this track where familiar latin percussion sounds are presented in a new light, Red Axes’ ability to create playful and catchy melodies layered on an understated groove, heavily treated guitar and frequency oscillating synths is compelling. A psychedelic cut tested and approved on the dance floor by several high profile DJs in the last few months.
B2 - MORE MORE AND MORE
The EP concludes with a track where a syncopated beat lets treated drums as well as slightly fuzzy bass line and synth stabs breathe through the mix. These dark elements contrast with lush pads, naive melodies optimistic chords and otherworldly horns. Tel Aviv’s Red Axes are back on I’m a Cliché for the second instalment in their ongoing SHEM series.
On this EP, four tracks that take different directions to reach the duo’s signature sound while expanding the horizons of their already impressive production abilities.
A1 - SHEM
A hypnotic track driven by a simple, functional rhythm. Melodies,
percussion, and sparse vocals give a distinctively human feel to the track’s mechanical vibe. With brilliant use of space and subtle melodic variations, this track is reminiscent both of cosmic music and of timeless film scores in the spirit of Ennio Morricone's work.
A2 - OH KEY
Guitars, live percussion, synths and keyboards: this track is a throwback to Red Axes’ early sound. With a hazy, slightly narcotic atmosphere thanks to the dance-inducing rhythm section and swirling guitar melodies, this is a fine piece of underwater surf rock whose potential in a club context must not be underestimated.
B1 - SWEET JOHN GANG
If you’ve ever wondered what’s the sound of an agogo rainfall, this is it. On this track where familiar latin percussion sounds are presented in a new light, Red Axes’ ability to create playful and catchy melodies layered on an understated groove, heavily treated guitar and frequency oscillating synths is compelling. A psychedelic cut tested and approved on the dance floor by several high profile DJs in the last few months.
B2 - MORE MORE AND MORE
The EP concludes with a track where a syncopated beat lets treated drums as well as slightly fuzzy bass line and synth stabs breathe through the mix. These dark elements contrast with lush pads, naive melodies optimistic chords and otherworldly horns. The result produces a fluid groove and much depth on this highly danceable track that seems to be Tel Aviv's response to The Hague's classic electro sound.

FYI the correct url to the NSCDC is 'www.nscdc.gov.ng'.
Asked to mention the NSCDC's web address, Mr Shem said "I cannot categorically tell you one now." Probed further to name the organisation's website, the commandant said the address is: www.nscdc.
A Channels Television's reporter checked the web address and noticed that it was incorrect. Further search on the internet showed that the correct web address for the Civil Defence Corp is www.nscdc.gov.ng
