Jenny feels honoured and privileged to own such a unique book, which all five of her grandmothers have owned, sand Jenny feels like she knows each one of her grandmothers from all her years of researching their recipes and cooking them also. Each of her grandmothers had their own recipes which they wrote down in the book, sometimes they would look back and use a certain recipe again and again and in some cases, make changes or additions to them. All in all, it's a wonderful time capsule which gives the reader of Jenny's book a personal glimpse into the lives of an Anglo Indian family living their days happily in India during the British Raj. Jenny's book is not only a cookbook/memoir it contains a chapter on each of her grandmothers, where we learn about how they used to entertain, what kind of food they ate, what kind of life changing events occurred in each of their lifetime... There's a wonderful collection of old sepia photographs, the oldest dating back to 1860 of Jenny's great great great grandparents, Wilhelmina and Joseph Hardy.
