Los Angeles (i/lɒs ˈændʒəlᵻs/ loss AN-jə-ləs or loss AN-jə-liss) (Spanish for "The Angels"), officially the City of Los Angeles and often known by its initials L.A., is the second-largest city in the United States after New York City, the most populous city in the state of California, and the county seat of Los Angeles County.
Situated in Southern California, Los Angeles is known for its mediterranean climate, ethnic diversity, sprawling metropolis, and as a major center of the American entertainment industry. Los Angeles lies in a large coastal basin surrounded on three sides by mountains reaching up to and over 10,000 feet (3,000 m).
Historically home to the Chumash and Tongva, Los Angeles was claimed by Juan Rodríguez Cabrillo for Spain in 1542 along with the rest of what would become Alta California. The city was officially founded on September 4, 1781, by Spanish governor Felipe de Neve. It became a part of Mexico in 1821 following the Mexican War of Independence. In 1848, at the end of the Mexican–American War, Los Angeles and the rest of California were purchased as part of the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo, thereby becoming part of the United States. Los Angeles was incorporated as a municipality on April 4, 1850, five months before California achieved statehood. The city experienced rapid growth with the discovery of oil.

To make up for this, the Prince suggests that Fletcher invests in a silver mine owned by Shireen and Agha Firdausi (Stéphane Audran and David Warner). This solves one problem, but the mine also attracts the attention of some of the most powerful people in the silver business. Fletcher must pull out all his wheeler-dealing skills in order to keep hold of everything he's worked for, in the process romancing a banker's discontented wife (Cybill Shepherd).

SUBSCRIBE TO WIN VARIOUS GIFT CARDS! BILLS TRADE CARDALE JONES TO CHARGERS FOR DRAFT PICK! Chargers coach Anthony Lynn is reuniting with one of his favorite quarterback prospects. The Bills have traded Cardale Jones to the Chargers in exchange for a conditional draft pick. Jones' staunchest supporters left Western New York when Lynn departed for Los Angeles and general manager Doug Whaley lost his job in late April. Buffalo proceeded to sign journeyman T.J. Yates and draft Nathan Peterman, leaving Jones as the odd man out of the quarterback rotation. It's no surprise that the former Ohio State star is headed to Southern California. Although Jones struggled in offseason practices as a rookie, he made quite an impression on Lynn, the Bills' 2016 offensive coordinator-turned-interim head coa...

FASTER is a documentary but it doesn’t feel like one. It has the energy and intensity of a Hollywood action movie, with the difference that in FASTER the action and danger are for real. FASTER is the first feature-length documentary to go inside the MotoGP world since television took a sport watched by a few thousand spectators at race tracks and turned it into prime-time entertainment for over 350 million people worldwide. FASTER was produced by Los Angeles-based Spark Productions in association with Dorna Sports SL, the rights-holder for MotoGP and the driving force behind the sport’s explosive growth over the last decade. The MotoGP world championship is the pinnacle of motorcycle sport, a series of sixteen races on five continents contested by twenty-four of the world’s top riders. ...
CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) - They are one of the most recognizable fixtures in sports - cheerleaders. Their smiles, synchronized moves and swag pump up the United Center. "The Luvabulls are iconic. It's something that when you're growing up as a little girl you come to the Bulls game and I'm watching the Luvabulls the whole time," said Thompson in an interview with Fox 32's Tisha Lewis. "We perform on that court with sprained ankles, bruised knees, just like the players do so we go out there every game, giving 100%," said Shante Roberts, Luvabulls Cheerleaders' Coach. Why is it that cities like Chicago, New York, and Los Angeles have their fair share of crime but St. Louis continues to top them every year in their numbers. Current and past events dealing with this issue will be included. Interviews include law enforcement, community leaders/pastor, lawyer, criminal justice specialist, journalist, and other citizens that have something to say. Hey fellas. Thanks for stopping by and watching my videos! Glad you made it here. This was the return flight of my 6 month San Diego stay last winter. This was my first flight in Lufthansa A380 Economy Class. I chose to sit in the upstairs economy section. The layout is different and window seats have huge storage compartments! Thats a lot better than downstairs ;) The service was pretty good and the seat comfortable. Recline was pretty decent even though it was the last seat. If you have any further questions just drop a comment and I'll try to answer it asap. Have a great day! Hi guys! Glad to see you made it to one of my reviews! This flight was the outbond leg of my trip to California. There was a great deal aboard Swiss and United, since I'm collecting *Alliance miles at the moment to get that LH gold status I prefer to fly star alliance members. Return flight was aboard United, that review will be posted soon :) Swiss has refurbished their A340 business class in 2009 or later, so this product is about 6-7 years old. Initially I really liked it but there are some negative points about this product. The worst thing about this layout and product IMO is (if you get a middle seat or a windowseat with no direct aisle access) the lack of privacy and storage space. I've flown this class 4 times now and thought the same every time. Only if you are in those throne ...
What's up world! After a 2 week vacation in Paradise(Hawaii) it was time to head back home. I booked the return flight on a Delta 767. I hoped I could upgrade but it was way too expensive and quickly sold out. I didn't care that much since its only a 5.5 hour flight to Los Angeles and the economy class product of this internationally configured 767 isn't that bad either. There is IFE on every seat and wifi, so you could do both, stream on your personal device or use the ife. I prefer to watch the movies on the PTVs. Food unfortunately is not included and you have to pay for it if you want something. I was hungry and the airport prices aren't that much of a difference. I also wanted to show you some food in my video thats why I purchased some of deltas inflight offerings. They also have d...
Driving Downtown Streets - 5th Street - Los Angeles California USA - Episode 81. Starting Point: 5th Street https://goo.gl/maps/G2WHNWQ3CwP2 . Downtown Los Angeles is the central business district of Los Angeles, California, as well as a diverse residential neighborhood of some 58,000 people. A 2013 study found that the district is home to over 500,000 jobs. A heritage of the city's founding in 1781, Downtown Los Angeles today is composed of different areas ranging from a fashion district to a skid row, and it is the hub of the city's Metro rapid transit system. Banks, department stores and movie palaces at one time drew residents and visitors into the area, but the district declined economically and suffered a downturn for decades until its recent renaissance starting in the early 2000s...

Los Angeles and California as a whole took a huge hit in the recession, with L.A.'s unemployment rate surging to 12 percent. But with trade through the largest port complex in the U.S. on the upswing, tourism remaining strong and manufacturing on the rise for the first time in years, the City of Angels still has an economic story to tell. California Forward's Cheryl Getuiza spoke with local business luminaries to see if the L.A. economy has what it takes to stay in the picture.

Sunset Boulevard has become shorthand for what Los Angeles represents in the collective imagination. Most people do not see Los Angeles themselves, and instead imagine the world of fame and affluence they see on their TV screens. However, the reality of Los Angeles is not one glamorous place or setting – instead, it is a gigantic, diverse and complicated city, divided by its disparate neighborhoods. To know it you have to travel from east to west, across colliding communities that evoke both glitz and grit. In this episode of City Guides we drive along Sunset Boulevard, stopping at venues and speaking with native Angelenos about the economic and cultural influences that have defined and transformed their neighborhoods. Documentary Germany/USA 2012 English & German with English subtitles. Directed by Boris Castro & Karla Lemus A group of bicycle aficionados from Hamburg, Sankt Pauli traveled to Los Angeles, to cross the city for 12 days into all cardinal directions. They worked as volunteers at the Midnight Mission on Skid Row, where 15,000 people live homeless and as a contrast they face the madness of lethal weapons at the L.A. Gun range in downtown. The movie is not just showing Los Angeles from an unknown perspective, it also puts up the question how one can cross this ecological and cultural desert. But the group is not alone, because L.A. shaped a rem...

Ross Kemp Investigates The Gang Life/Culture In Los Angeles California
You've been here forever
I've
I've been here too
They said you were clever
Let's see what you can do
Cause I never wanted
Wanted to leave it
Said I can't believe it
Los Angeles
(Los Angeles)
Los Angeles
(Yeah I can't believe it)
Los Angeles
(Yeah)
Los Angeles
(Said I...)
Things can't be easy
You're getting older
The pressure's building
Living in Van Nuys
Cal-i-forn-i-a
What else could I say?
Cause I never wanted
Wanted to believe it
Said I can't believe it
Los Angeles
(Los Angeles)
Los Angeles
(Yeah I can't believe it)
Los Angeles
(The west side)
Los Angeles
You said you were leaving
Heading out to the east coast
Cause your heart was bleeding
And people can be so
But you must remember
That it ain't the weather
That's gonna protect you
They will still neglect you
But I'll always love you
Said I've always loved you
(So come on home)
Said I've always loved you
So get back in your car and head west to California
The sun will be shining
And we could be dining by the ocean blue
Cause I never wanted
Wanted to leave
Said I can't believe it
Los Angeles
(Los Angeles)
Los Angeles
(Yeah I can't believe it)
Los Angeles
(Los fues)
Los Angeles
(Said)
Los Angeles
(Said...)
Los Angeles
(Yeah I'll believe it)
