Media may refer to:
Viacom Media Networks, is a division of the media conglomerate Viacom that oversees the operations of many television channels and Internet brands, including the original MTV channel in the United States. Sibling to Viacom Media Networks is Viacom International Media Networks.
The company was established in 1984 after Warner Communications and American Express decided to divest the basic cable assets of Warner-Amex Satellite Entertainment, renaming it MTV Networks, Inc. Warner-Amex originally created and owned Nickelodeon, MTV, VH1 and The Movie Channel (TMC).
Viacom acquired 66% of the company in 1985, and then acquired the remaining interest in 1986. It was then folded into Viacom International Inc., a subsidiary of Viacom Inc., and is no longer a distinct legal entity.
Viacom Media Networks' family of brands is divided into three sections, based on the type of television programming and audiences they serve. All networks are simulcasted in high definition aside from the spinoff music networks and TeenNick.
Viacom International Inc. is a current subsidiary of Viacom (as was the case with Viacom's predecessor; that former Viacom International is now known as CBS Operations Inc.).
It is the holding company for copyrights and trademarks associated with Viacom's corporate websites and its cable networks, specifically Viacom Media Networks, and is the division which licenses the product rights for their various properties. Before the merger with CBS Corporation in 1999, it also acted as the licensee company for Viacom's owned television stations; for instance New Britain, Connecticut station WVIT, currently an NBC owned and operated station for the Hartford market owned by Viacom from 1978 until 1997, took their call letters from Viacom International.
Viacom International also continues to focus on its own in-house productions made for its various networks such as MTV, VH1, & Nickelodeon. Viacom International is a partner in Comedy Partners, the Viacom subsidiary which owns Comedy Central. The other partner is the parent company itself, as former owner of the Ha! network; the "Comedy Partners" name dates to when Viacom and Time Warner co-owned Comedy Central until 2003 as a merger of Ha! and Time Warner's Comedy Channel.
Viacom International Media Networks (VIMN) is the international division of Viacom. The network oversees the production, broadcasting and promotion of key Viacom brands. These brands include MTV, VH1, Nickelodeon, Comedy Central, BET, VIVA and Game One.
The networks headquarters are located in New York and London. Other international offices are located in Berlin, Stockholm, Amsterdam, Warsaw, Madrid, Milan, Paris, Singapore, Budapest and Sydney amongst others. Viacom brands are viewed by 700 million households across the world available in 37 languages via 200 locally programmed and operated TV channels and more than 550 digital media properties. VIMN's first international offices opened in the late 1980s in London and Amsterdam with the launch of MTV Europe. VIMN was created from a rebrand of Viacom's MTV Networks, which included MTV, VH1 and Nickelodeon, to include Comedy Central. Robert Bakish has been President of VIMN since 2011, having held various roles at Viacom since 1997.

A video on media ownership in the U.S, but i suspect all over the west. Sumner Redstone real name is Sumner Murray Rothstein owns CBS Corporation, Viacom, MTV Networks, BET, and the film studio Paramount Pictures, and are equal partners in MovieTickets.com.. Fox news owner Rupert Murdoch also owns many papers world wide. TV, news papers are owned more and by fewer people. A concentration of news papers and media into a few people hands allows what is happening now in the west, a propaganda media that promotes only what thier agenda says to promote. Back in 1983, approximately 50 corporations controlled the vast majority of all news media in the United States. Today, ownership of the news media has been concentrated in the hands of just six incredibly powerful media corporations. These co...

MTV (originally an initialism of Music Television) is an American cable and satellite television channel owned by Viacom Media Networks (a division of Viacom) and headquartered in New York City. Launched on August 1, 1981, the channel originally aired music videos as guided by television personalities known as "video jockeys" (VJs). In its early years, MTV's main target demographic was young adults, but today it is primarily towards teenagers, high school and college students. MTV has toned down its music video programming significantly in recent years, and its programming now consists mainly of original reality, comedy and drama programming and some off-network syndicated programs and films, with limited music video programming in off-peak time periods. It has received criticism towards ...
