Chitragupt Shrivastava, the famous music composer of Bollywood, of Rafi & Mukesh era, of "Chal Ud Ja Re Panchhi Ke.. from (Film Bhabhi)" fame, hailed from Saran.
Chitragupt was born on 16 November 1917, Karmaini village (Gopalganj district), Bihar. He had a double MA, in Economics & in Journalism.He Worked as a lecturer in Patna before he ran away to Bombay to pursue a career as a composer in films.He assisted S.N. Tripathi for some time before he got an independent opportunity with Ramnik Vaidya in 1946. He tasted success after a struggle in 1952 with the Rafi-Shamshad duet, adaa se jhoomate hue (Sindbad the sailor) hit the music charts and was a hit.
S D Burman recommended him to Meiyappan of AVM studios, and he started with a film Shiv Bhakt in 1955. Bhabhi, Barkha, Main Chup Rahoongi and Main bhi ladki hoon were the other notable ventures of this collaboration. He worked with few big name studios or actors - with Mohan Sehgal, Hrishikesh Mukherjee, G P Sippy, Kishore Sahu and AVM being the exceptions.
He parted ways with his mentor, S N Tripathi, due to their difference in their innovative approaches and ideas from popular Western music. His classical roots are seen in songs like Kishore Kumar's "paayal vaali dekhna" (Ek Raaz), while his modern and light-hearted, foot-tapping music could be sampled in songs like "ham matavale naujavan" (Barkha), "dekho mausam kya bahaar hai" (Opera House). His notable films include Bhabhi, Ek Raaz, Main Chup Rahoongi, Oonche Log, Opera House, Vasna, Zabak etc.

Chitragupt Shrivastava, the famous music composer of Hindi cinema was born in a village Karmaini, Bihar on 16 November, 1917. He had a double MA, in Economics ∓ in Journalism. He worked as a lecturer in Patna before he ran away to Bombay to pursue a career as a composer in films. He assisted S. N. Tripathi for some time before he got an independent opportunity with Ramnik Vaidya in 1946. He tasted success after a lot of struggle in 1952 with the release of Sindbad The Sailor, the duet 'Adaa Se Jhoomte Hue..', beacme a hit.
Chitragupt was also a good singer and lyricist. He worked with all the major lyricists of the time like, Majrooh Sultanpuri, Rajinder Krishan, Anand Bakshi, Prem Dhawan and even Sahir Ludhianvi. After Sahir Ludhianvi agreed to write to the tunes Chitragupt composed, they produced some wonderful songs for Vaasna - 'Ye Parbaton Ke Daayre..' and 'Itni Naazuk Na Bano..'. When it came to Bhojpuri films, Chitragupt was the ruling king; He composed music for some very memorable Bhojpuri films like, 'Ganga Maiya Tohe Piyari Chadhaube', 'Laagi Naahi Chhute Rama' and 'Gangaa'. He also composed the music for a few Punjabi and Gujarati films.
He suffered a heart attack in 1968 and a paralytic stroke in 1974. He died on the 14th of January 1991. His children include Anand and Milind, the famous composer duo who created some memorable songs for Mansoor Khan's Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak.

Taqdeerwala is a Hindi Movies Full Movie in which Shri Bhramma is unhappy with Yamraj and his assistant, Chitragupt, as they have misplaced a book or prophecy called "Bhavishya Vani", and asks them to go down to Earth and find the book within 30 days or else they will lose their status in heaven and will be forced to live as mortals on Earth. The two descend to Earth, and find out that the book is in the possession of a man named Suraj, who is unwilling to give up the book as he has read the prophecy about his mother's dying. This refusal is catastrophic as Yamraj cannot plan anyone's death, and no one will be permitted to die unless and until the book comes in his possession. At the same time there is an evil man named Chota Ravan who is trying to possess the book in order to spread his control over Bombay.

1 Lord Chitragupta or Kayastha is believed to be a Hindu God who keeps a complete record of each and every action of living beings.
2 In Garuda Purana, Lord Chitragupta is described as the first man to use letters and is technically referred to as the keeper of virtues and sins.
3 Since ancient times, he has been depicted holding a wooden pen or a peacock quill and an inkpot.

Chitragupta (Sanskrit: चित्रगुप्त, 'rich in secrets' or 'hidden picture') is a Hindu god assigned with the task of keeping complete records of actions of human beings on the earth. Upon their death, Chitragupta has the task of deciding heaven or the hell for the humans, depending on their actions on the earth. Chitragupta Maharaj (Chitragupta the King) is the patron deity of Kayasthas, a Hindu caste of India and Nepal. He is the son of Lord Brahma and holds a fairly special place in the Hindu pantheon because of the order of his birth.
Lord Brahma had many various sons and daughters in various myth structures, including many seers born of his mind, such as Vashishta, Narada, and Atri, and many sons born of his body, such as Dharma, Delusion, Lust, Death, and Bharata. The story of the birth of Chitragupta is related in different ways, but he is nearly always delineated differently from the other children of Lord Brahma, and a common thread is that he is born directly of Lord Brahma’s body.

Main Chup Rahungi
Main Chup Rahungi (English: I Shall Remain Silent) is a 1962 Indian Bollywood film directed by A. Bhimsingh and produced by A.V. Meiyappan. The film stars Meena Kumari and Sunil Dutt in lead roles. The film was remake of Kalathur Kannamma.
Plot
Narayan (Nana Palsikar) works as a laborer on a farmland owned by businessman Ratan Kumar, in Ramnagar. Although Narayan was an ex-convict, Ratan had assisted him getting a job, some land, and a small house where he now lives with his grown daughter, Gayetri (Meena Kumari), who used to work as a teacher. To his complete shock, Narayan finds out that Gayetri is pregnant. Ratan asks Narayan to take some money and relocate, which Narayan gratefully does. Gayetri gives birth to a baby boy, and Narayan takes him to an orphanage donated by Ratan himself, and informs Gayetri that her child was still-born. Gayetri and Narayan eventually return to Ramnagar, and as luck would have it, Gayetri finds a job as a teacher in the orphanage that her son (now named Shyam) lives in. When Ratan's son, Kamal (Sunil Dutt), returns from Singapore, he meets Shyam and likes him, but when he finds out that his school-teacher is Gayetri, he demands that Gayetri be fired as she is not of good character. Who is Shyam's father, why Gayetri remains silent about her child's identity, and what Kamal knows about Gayetri's background are the questions to be discovered later in the film.

Some of the most beautiful songs of Lata Mangeshkar Chitragupt Shrivastava, the famous music composer of Hindi cinema was born in a village Karmaini, Bihar on 16 November, 1917. He had a double MA, in Economics ∓ in Journalism. He worked as a lecturer in Patna before he ran away to Bombay to pursue a career as a composer in films. He assisted S. N. Tripathi for some time before he got an independent opportunity with Ramnik Vaidya in 1946. He tasted success after a lot of struggle in 1952 with the release of Sindbad The Sailor, the duet 'Adaa Se Jhoomte Hue..', beacme a hit. Chitragupt was also a good singer and lyricist. He worked with all the major lyricists of the time like, Majrooh Sultanpuri, Rajinder Krishan, Anand Bakshi, Prem Dhawan and even Sahir Ludhianvi. After Sahir Ludhianvi agreed to write to the tunes Chitragupt composed, they produced some wonderful songs for Vaasna - 'Ye Parbaton Ke Daayre..' and 'Itni Naazuk Na Bano..'. When it came to Bhojpuri films, Chitragupt was the ruling king; He composed music for some very memorable Bhojpuri films like, 'Ganga Maiya Tohe Piyari Chadhaube', 'Laagi Naahi Chhute Rama' and 'Gangaa'. He also composed the music for a few Punjabi and Gujarati films. He suffered a heart attack in 1968 and a paralytic stroke in 1974. He died on the 14th of January 1991. His children include Anand and Milind, the famous composer duo who created some memorable songs for Mansoor Khan's Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak. From: Down Memory Lane -

Chitragupt Shrivastava, the famous music composer of Hindi cinema was born in a village Karmaini, Bihar on 16 November, 1917. He had a double MA, in Economics ∓ in Journalism. He worked as a lecturer in Patna before he ran away to Bombay to pursue a career as a composer in films. He assisted S. N. Tripathi for some time before he got an independent opportunity with Ramnik Vaidya in 1946. He tasted success after a lot of struggle in 1952 with the release of Sindbad The Sailor, the duet 'Adaa Se Jhoomte Hue..', beacme a hit.
Chitragupt was also a good singer and lyricist. He worked with all the major lyricists of the time like, Majrooh Sultanpuri, Rajinder Krishan, Anand Bakshi, Prem Dhawan and even Sahir Ludhianvi. After Sahir Ludhianvi agreed to write to the tunes Chitragupt composed, they produced some wonderful songs for Vaasna - 'Ye Parbaton Ke Daayre..' and 'Itni Naazuk Na Bano..'. When it came to Bhojpuri films, Chitragupt was the ruling king; He composed music for some very memorable Bhojpuri films like, 'Ganga Maiya Tohe Piyari Chadhaube', 'Laagi Naahi Chhute Rama' and 'Gangaa'. He also composed the music for a few Punjabi and Gujarati films.
He suffered a heart attack in 1968 and a paralytic stroke in 1974. He died on the 14th of January 1991. His children include Anand and Milind, the famous composer duo who created some memorable songs for Mansoor Khan's Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak.

Taqdeerwala is a Hindi Movies Full Movie in which Shri Bhramma is unhappy with Yamraj and his assistant, Chitragupt, as they have misplaced a book or prophecy called "Bhavishya Vani", and asks them to go down to Earth and find the book within 30 days or else they will lose their status in heaven and will be forced to live as mortals on Earth. The two descend to Earth, and find out that the book is in the possession of a man named Suraj, who is unwilling to give up the book as he has read the prophecy about his mother's dying. This refusal is catastrophic as Yamraj cannot plan anyone's death, and no one will be permitted to die unless and until the book comes in his possession. At the same time there is an evil man named Chota Ravan who is trying to possess the book in order to spread his control over Bombay.

2 In Garuda Purana, Lord Chitragupta is described as the first man to use letters and is technically referred to as the keeper of virtues and sins.
3 Since ancient times, he has been depicted holding a wooden pen or a peacock quill and an inkpot.
4 As per Hindu belief, he assists Lord Yamaraj as a secretary and has two wives who are addressed by different names in Vedic scriptures.
5 The members of Kayastha community are said to be the descendants of Lord Chitragupta.
6 The Kayasthas strongly believe that the four primary virtues: justice, peace, literacy, and knowledge represent him.
7 Every year the special rituals of Dawat Pujan are dedicated to him on Chitragupta Jayanti which occurs after Diwali.

The two descend to Earth, and find out that the book is in the possession of a man named Suraj, who is unwilling to give up the book as he has read the prophecy about his mother's dying. This refusal is catastrophic as Yamraj cannot plan anyone's death, and no one will be permitted to die unless and until the book comes in his possession. At the same time there is an evil man named Chota Ravan who is trying to possess the book in order to spread his control over Bombay.
