With all the different options on the Las Vegas Strip, it's hard to know which resort is right for you. I give you a very quick run-down of all the important information, from the Stratosphere to Mandalay Bay! www.facebook.com/MorgansVeryunOfficialTravelGuides Twitter @MrMorganOBrien The lowest of the low pricers are Stratosphere and Circus Circus. They are both annoyingly far away from anything else interesting, and I personally would never stay there, but they're worth visiting for the attractions. After that I pick Excalibur and MGM Grand. Both are kind of hit and miss when it comes to room quality, although the MGM is a bit more Miami Beach and Excalibur is a bit more Nashville. Then comes Ballys and Harrah's, Harrah's has a better buffet and a funner casino, but Bally's has some fountain view rooms. Next up from that, Excalibur and Luxor, which makes up for it's bad location with great prices and big rooms. At the top end of the low pricers, I put the Flamingo, which probably has the best pool in Vegas and one of the best locations, and standard rooms that are very affordable, however very tired. Starting the middle class is Paris, which has a great location but needs to be updated. Any resort with a fricken rollercoaster sticking out of the roof is OK in my book, which is why NYNY is next. Then comes the Monte Carlo, keyword WAVEPOOL, and Treasure Island, which has cool theming and a terrible pirate show with hot chicks. At the top of the middle classers, I put Planet Hollywood for it's awesome buffet and very cool decor, the Tropicana, which has recently been completely overhauled and is totally awesome, and the Mirage, because it's a classic, great location, very luxurious, yet still sort of affordable and not at all stuck up. Now we start the high pricers. At the bottom of the top is Mandalay Bay. Beautiful resort, but way way too far away from everything else. It gets tricky after that, but I would have to put Caesar's next. Another classic property with great amenities, but it's just a little too huge and wanna-be posh for my taste. Speaking of wanna-be posh, next on my list are the Venetian slash Palazzo and the Wynn slash Encore. All 4 are amazing resorts, but really expensive and tend to attract a kind of snotty, cigar smoking, "I'm richer than you" clientele which I don't enjoy. If you've got the money, however, you won't be disappointed. La Reve at the Wynn is the best show in Vegas. Moving up the list to the landmark Bellagio with it's amazing fountain show and luxurious theming, but it's luxurious in a "Mary Poppins" kind of way and not in an "MTV Cribs" kind of way, which may or may not be exactly what you're looking for. At the top of the list are two resorts which I actually really love, despite the price. ARIA is amazing. Fully automated rooms, great decor, and high-end spirits on the casino floor. Would stay there again in a heartbeat if I got a good deal. At the very top is the basically brand new Cosmopolitan. O.M. G. Everything the ARIA has, but yet somehow cooler, and all the suites have huge balconies overlooking the strip. If money is no option or you want to splurge on something absolutely unforgettable, don't think of staying anywhere else on the strip but here. Music by Staropavlova45, used with permission.
