1198: 10 de marzo. Según el cronista Ibn Sahib al-Salá concluyen las obras de la Giralda de Sevilla.
1998. "Feliz cumpleaños" es un recorrido histórico de la Giralda, o campanario de la catedral de Sevilla, con motivo del ochocientos aniversario de su coronación.
El reportaje recoge la historia de la Giralda, un antiguo alminar de mezquita almohade del siglo XII, admirada por musulmanes, católicos y turistas. Inspiración de poetas y artistas la Giralda aparece en los textos, en el cine, en el arte y en la artesanía, es la reina del souvenir. Su belleza, Patrimonio de la Humanidad, irradia magia sobre la vida de la ciudad, siendo protagonista de los principales actos y fiestas de Sevilla.
Presenta Agustín Olmo, guión Luis Cátedra, locución Carlos María Ruiz [Programa "Los reporteros 358", 08/03/1998, Canal Sur Televisión].
El reportaje incluye a la Giralda en los textos con poemas y textos de Ibn-Sahid Al-Sala (1198), Bernard Bevan, Miguel de Cervantes (El Quijote), Aníbal González, Alfonso x el Sabio (1250), hermanos Álvarez Quintero, Rafael Montesinos, Juan Ramón Jiménez o Gerardo Diego.
La historia del alminar almohade, su parecido con la torre de Asma en Rabat (1193) y La Kutuyya de Marrakesh (1190) de Marruecos. Transformaciones sucesivas en 1198, 1356, hasta llegar al aspecto actual renacentista realizado en 1568 por el arquitecto Hernán Ruiz, (Hernán Ruiz II) (Córdoba 1514 - Sevilla 21 de abril de 1569). La retirada de las campanas y de la famosa veleta "El Giradillo" para su restauración (1997).
La Giralda en la vida de la ciudad: escenario de protestas y manifestaciones (ocupación trabajadores de Astilleros), en fiestas y actos religiosos, en Semana Santa (imágenes de la Virgen Macarena con la marcha "Amarguras"), repique de campanas y fuegos de artificiales en la inauguración de la Expo 92, visita del Papa Juan Pablo II (1993), la boda de la Infanta Elena de Borbón con Jaime de Marichalar (1995), vistas aéreas de la catedral, etc.

La cathédrale Santa María de Séville possède un magnifique clocher devenu emblématique de la ville. Pourtant, ce clocher était à l'origine... un minaret ! Pour rester neutre, on l'appelle la Giralda !
On retrouve cet héritage hispano-mauresque dans toute l'architecture de l'édifice
Au coeur de la cathédrale se trouve une oeuvre monumentale : le retable le plus grand du monde : 28 mètres de haut !
Il a fallu presque un siècle pour sculpter cette oeuvre de bois et d'or !

( merci de noter la vidéo ) ABONNEZ-VOUS pour suivre l'évolution de ma chaîne YouTube La cathédrale de Séville, a été construite entre 1402 et le XVIe siècle C'est la troisième cathédrale la plus vastes aprés la Saint-Pierre de Rome et l,e Saint Paul de Londres, la plus grande d'Espagne. Ses dimensions en font également le plus grand édifice gothique entièrement construit au Moyen Âge elle mesure, 115 mètres de long, 76 mètres de large ; les voûtes de sa nef centrale s'élèvent à 42 mètres, Chacune des chapelles latérales pourrait elle-même contenir une église ordinaire. construite en lieu et place d'une mosquée dans le souci de symboliser, par un monument prestigieux, la prospérité de la capitale andalouse devenue une grande cité commerçante après la Reconquista. Les bâtisseurs réutilisèrent des éléments et des colonnes de la mosquée et transformèrent en campanile son minaret, la fameuse tour de la Giralda, aujourd'hui devenue le symbole de la ville.
l'intérieur, avec la nef la plus longue d'Espagne, est décoré de façon fastueuse, avec profusion d'ors. Dans le corps principal de l'édifice se distingue le choeur, qui occupe le centre de la nef.
le colossal retable gothique comprenant 45 panneaux sculptés représentant des scènes de la vie du christ. Ce chef d'œuvre unique et véritablement extraordinaire du sculpteur Pierre Dancart est l'ouvrage de toute une vie: c'est le tableau d'autel le plus grand et le plus riche du monde et l'une des plus somptueuses pièces sculptées de l'art gothique.
La cathédrale de Séville possède en outre une collection importante de pièces d'orfèvrerie, de tableaux peints et de statues, ainsi que le tombeau de Christophe Colomb.

Giralda
The Giralda (Spanish: La Giralda ; Arabic: الخيرالدة) is a bell tower of the Seville Cathedral in Seville, Spain. It was originally built as a minaret during the Moorish period, with a Renaissance style top subsequently added by Spaniards. The Giralda was registered in 1987 as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO along with the Alcazar and the General Archive of the Indies. The tower is 104.1 m in height and remains one of the most important symbols of the city, as it has been since medieval times.
History
The tower began to be built under architect Ahmad Ben Baso in 1184. After Ben Baso's death, other architects continued work on the tower. The mathematician and astronomer Jabir ibn Aflah (or Geber) is also often credited with the tower's design. The tower was completed March 10, 1198 with the installation of copper spheres on the tower's top. The Almohads built similar towers in what are now Spain and Morocco during this period. The tower of the Koutoubia Mosque in Marrakesh served as a model for the Giralda and its sister, the Hassan Tower in Rabat.

Seville

Seville Cathedral
The Cathedral of Saint Mary of the See (Spanish: Catedral de Santa María de la Sede), better known as Seville Cathedral, is a Roman Catholic cathedral in Seville (Andalusia, Spain). It is the largest Gothic cathedral and the third-largest church in the world. It is also the largest cathedral in the world, as the two larger churches, the Basilica of the National Shrine of Our Lady of Aparecida and St Peter's Basilica, are not the seats of bishops. It was registered in 1987 by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site, along with the Alcázar palace complex and the General Archive of the Indies. "See" refers to the Episcopal see, i.e., the bishop's ecclesiastical jurisdiction.
After its completion in the early 16th century, the Seville Cathedral supplanted Hagia Sophia as the largest cathedral in the world, a title the Byzantine church had held for nearly a thousand years. The cathedral is also the burial site of Christopher Columbus. The Archbishop's Palace is located on the northeastern side of the cathedral.

Isla Cristina
Isla Cristina is a city and municipality located in the province of Huelva, Spain. According to the 2009 census, the city has a population of 21,324 inhabitants.
Isla Cristina remains one of the most important fishing ports in Huelva province, its catch being highly prized throughout Spain.
It is a popular summer holiday resort, particularly with the Spaniards themselves. Sevillanos flock to the area in July and August, much of the attraction being the kilometers of 'Blue Flag' standard beaches.
Toponymy
Isla Cristina was given its current name on April 12, 1834 in honor of Maria Christina of the Two Sicilies and her service to the regions of Andalusia and Extremadura during the cholera epidemic of 1833-34. The city was originally called La Higuerita (also La Figarilla or La Figuerta, depending on the language) when it was founded in 1755. The name was changed again to Real Isla de La Higuerita (English: The Higuerita's royal Island) in 1802.

La retirada de las campanas y de la famosa veleta "El Giradillo" para su restauración (1997). La Giralda en la vida de la ciudad: escenario de protestas y manifestaciones (ocupación trabajadores de Astilleros), en fiestas y actos religiosos, en Semana Santa (imágenes de la Virgen Macarena con la marcha "Amarguras"), repique de campanas y fuegos de artificiales en la inauguración de la Expo 92, visita del Papa Juan Pablo II (1993), la boda de la Infanta Elena de Borbón con Jaime de Marichalar (1995), vistas aéreas de la catedral, etc. Otras fechas clave: 1198: 10 de marzo. Según el cronista Ibn Sahib al-Salá concluyen las obras de la Giralda de Sevilla. 2007: 26 de marzo. Simposio Internacional sobre la Catedral de Sevilla. 1901: 8 de abril. Joaquín de la Concha Alcalde, es nombrado arquitecto de la Catedral de Sevilla y comienzan las obras de restauración. 1569: 21 de abril. La cathédrale Santa María de Séville possède un magnifique clocher devenu emblématique de la ville. Pourtant, ce clocher était à l'origine... un minaret ! Pour rester neutre, on l'appelle la Giralda ! On retrouve cet héritage hispano-mauresque dans toute l'architecture de l'édifice Au coeur de la cathédrale se trouve une oeuvre monumentale : le retable le plus grand du monde : 28 mètres de haut ! ( merci de noter la vidéo ) ABONNEZ-VOUS pour suivre l'évolution de ma chaîne YouTube La cathédrale de Séville, a été construite entre 1402 et le XVIe siècle C'est la troisième cathédrale la plus vastes aprés la Saint-Pierre de Rome et l,e Saint Paul de Londres, la plus grande d'Espagne. Ses dimensions en font également le plus grand édifice gothique entièrement construit au Moyen Âge elle mesure, 115 mètres de long, 76 mètres de large ; les voûtes de sa nef centrale s'élèvent à 42 mètres, Chacune des chapelles latérales pourrait elle-même contenir une église ordinaire. construite en lieu et place d'une mosquée dans le souci de symboliser, par un monument prestigieux, la prospérité de la capitale andalouse devenue une grande cité commerçante après la Reconquista. Les bâtisseurs réutilisèrent des éléments et des colonnes de la mosquée et transformèrent en campanile son minaret, la fameuse tour de la Giralda, aujourd'hui devenue le symbole de la ville. l'intérieur, avec la nef la plus longue d'Espagne, est décoré de façon fastueuse, avec profusion d'ors. Dans le corps principal de l'édifice se distingue le choeur, qui occupe le centre de la nef. le colossal retable gothique comprenant 45 panneaux sculptés représentant des scènes de la vie du christ. Ce chef d'œuvre unique et véritablement extraordinaire du sculpteur Pierre Dancart est l'ouvrage de toute une vie: c'est le tableau d'autel le plus grand et le plus riche du monde et l'une des plus somptueuses pièces sculptées de l'art gothique. La cathédrale de Séville possède en outre une collection importante de pièces d'orfèvrerie, de tableaux peints et de statues, ainsi que le tombeau de Christophe Colomb. -

1998. "Feliz cumpleaños" es un recorrido histórico de la Giralda, o campanario de la catedral de Sevilla, con motivo del ochocientos aniversario de su coronación.
El reportaje recoge la historia de la Giralda, un antiguo alminar de mezquita almohade del siglo XII, admirada por musulmanes, católicos y turistas. Inspiración de poetas y artistas la Giralda aparece en los textos, en el cine, en el arte y en la artesanía, es la reina del souvenir. Su belleza, Patrimonio de la Humanidad, irradia magia sobre la vida de la ciudad, siendo protagonista de los principales actos y fiestas de Sevilla.
Presenta Agustín Olmo, guión Luis Cátedra, locución Carlos María Ruiz [Programa "Los reporteros 358", 08/03/1998, Canal Sur Televisión].

On retrouve cet héritage hispano-mauresque dans toute l'architecture de l'édifice
Au coeur de la cathédrale se trouve une oeuvre monumentale : le retable le plus grand du monde : 28 mètres de haut !
Il a fallu presque un siècle pour sculpter cette oeuvre de bois et d'or !

Ses dimensions en font également le plus grand édifice gothique entièrement construit au Moyen Âge elle mesure, 115 mètres de long, 76 mètres de large ; les voûtes de sa nef centrale s'élèvent à 42 mètres, Chacune des chapelles latérales pourrait elle-même contenir une église ordinaire. construite en lieu et place d'une mosquée dans le souci de symboliser, par un monument prestigieux, la prospérité de la capitale andalouse devenue une grande cité commerçante après la Reconquista. Les bâtisseurs réutilisèrent des éléments et des colonnes de la mosquée et transformèrent en campanile son minaret, la fameuse tour de la Giralda, aujourd'hui devenue le symbole de la ville.
l'intérieur, avec la nef la plus longue d'Espagne, est décoré de façon fastueuse, avec profusion d'ors. Dans le corps principal de l'édifice se distingue le choeur, qui occupe le centre de la nef.
le colossal retable gothique comprenant 45 panneaux sculptés représentant des scènes de la vie du christ. Ce chef d'œuvre unique et véritablement extraordinaire du sculpteur Pierre Dancart est l'ouvrage de toute une vie: c'est le tableau d'autel le plus grand et le plus riche du monde et l'une des plus somptueuses pièces sculptées de l'art gothique.

The Plaza De Toros and the seasonal hustle and bustle of its bullfights, dominates the El Arenal, the city’s former harbor district. Designed in the 18th century by Vicente San Martin, the bullfight arena was fully restored in the middle of the 19th century. La Giralda and the Patio de los Naranjos are the only remains of Sevilla´s Almohad Mosque. The rest of the temple was destroyed by the Christians. Construction began in 1401 and it became the largest Gothic cathedral in the world. After the Petersdom in Rome and St.Paul’s in London, it is the third largest Christian building in the world. Seville Cathedral, also known as the Catedral De Santa Mariá De La Sede, is the most important church in the Andalusian metropolis. It is the largest Gothic cathedral and also the third largest Christian church in the world. It replaced the former Islamic Seville Mosque that was built by the Almohades in 1198. The cathedral’s various chapels not only have great aesthetic appeal but are also of historical artistic value as they contain a number of sacred works of art that are truly remarkable. The construction of the cathedral was designed to create an unmistakable symbol of Christian glory and power, a building with much political significance. The cathedral also possesses a famous tomb, that of the legendary discoverer of America, Christopher Columbus. From the bell gallery that is around seventy metres high visitors can enjoy a splendid view of the cathedral below as well as the unique courtyard and the endless ocean of rooftops in the old part of Seville.

Up to the beginning of the 20th century, the city was a trading centre for both the north of Morocco and the Sahara and the monarchs of various dynasties made Marrakesh their capital city.
The large souks of Marrakesh's Medina are divided into numerous sections and stock just about everything known to man!
In spite of the city's apparent calm, there is much activity and the traffic is surprisingly well disciplined.
Marrakesh has the largest souks in Morocco. As well as shoes and clothing, they stock all the necessities of life and of course, bargaining and haggling are the norm! Daily life in the souks is dominated by trade. They are a vital meeting place and trading centre for the farmers of the High Atlas. Those who wish to experience Moroccan daily life can do so here and a stroll through the narrow alleys, taking in the city's sounds and aromas, explains far more than any travel guide.
Djemaa el Fna is the 'Square of the Beheaded' and is Marrakesh's most famous attraction with snake charmers, musicians and storytellers. In 2001, the Square of the Beheaded was designated by Unesco as a World Heritage Site.
Built in 1158, the minaret of the Koutoubia Mosque is the symbol of the city. The 77 metre tall sandstone minaret served as the model for the Giralda in Seville and the Hassan Tower in Rabat. Most of the mosque was built by Spanish prisoners of war.
Marrakesh is an historic bridge that unites both urban and nomadic cultures, an exotic gateway to Africa and a captivating window to Europe!

Torre Giralda was built in the 1100s as a minaret and it was one of the tallest buildings in this part of the world at that time.
The views from the top are a great way to see the city in its entirety. The tower itself is gorgeous.

The Giralda is a bell tower of the Seville Cathedral in Seville, Spain. It was originally built as a minaret during the Moorish period, with a Renaissance style top subsequently added by Spaniards. The Giralda was registered in 1987 as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO along with the Alcazar and the General Archive of the Indies. The tower is 104.1 m in height and remains one of the most important symbols of the city, as it has been since medieval times. The tower began to be built under architect Ahmad Ben Baso in 1184. After Ben Baso's death, other architects continued work on the tower. The mathematician and astronomer Jabir ibn Aflah (or Geber) is also often credited with the tower's design. The tower was completed March 10, 1198 with the installation of copper spheres on the tower's top. The Almohads built similar towers in what are now Spain and Morocco during this period. The tower of the Koutoubia Mosque in Marrakesh served as a model for the Giralda and its sister, the Hassan Tower in Rabat. The tower's first two-thirds is a former minaret from the Almohad period of Seville, the upper third Spanish Renaissance architecture. Covering the top of the tower is the "Lily section" which surrounds the enclosure with the bell. The statue stands 4 m (13 feet) in height 7 m (23 ft) with the pedestal and sit on top of the tower from its installation in 1568. Many towers have borrowed from the Giralda's design throughout history. Several church towers in the province of Seville also bear a resemblance to the tower, and may have been inspired by the Giralda.
