NBC 5 may refer to one of the following television stations in the United States:
5 News is the news programme of British broadcaster Channel 5 produced by ITN from Channel 5's former parent company Northern & Shell's head office on Lower Thames Street in the City of London.
From 1 January 2005, Sky News was awarded the contract to provide the news for Channel 5, replacing ITN, which had provided the channel's news service from the channel's launch in 1997. On 14 February 2011, the service was rebranded back to its original name, 5 News, having been called Five News from 2002 until 2011. On 20 February 2012 the contract returned to original provider ITN.
On 5 November 2015 5 News at 5 anchor Emma Crosby announced she was leaving 5 News after 4 years to have a baby. Sian Williams replaced her on 4th January 2016 after months of interim anchors from Channel 5's team of on-screen journalists.
5 News was one of the new station's flagship programmes when it launched on 30 March 1997. It was originally produced by ITN, which at the time also provided the news for Channel 4 and ITV. It was announced on 9 March 2004 that Sky had won the new contract to provide Channel 5 with its news bulletins.
The National Broadcasting Company (NBC) is an American commercial broadcast television and radio network that is the flagship property of NBCUniversal, a subsidiary of Comcast. The network is headquartered in the Comcast Building (formerly known as the GE Building) at Rockefeller Center in New York City, with additional major offices near Los Angeles (at Universal City Plaza), Chicago (at the NBC Tower) and soon in Philadelphia at Comcast Innovation and Technology Center. The network is part of the Big Three television networks. NBC is sometimes referred to as the "Peacock Network", in reference to its stylized peacock logo, which was originally created in 1956 for its then-new color broadcasts and became the network's official emblem in 1979.
Founded in 1926 by the Radio Corporation of America (RCA), NBC is the oldest major broadcast network in the United States. In 1986, control of NBC passed to General Electric (GE) – which previously owned RCA and NBC until 1930, when it was forced to sell the companies as a result of antitrust charges – through its $6.4 billion purchase of RCA. Following the acquisition by GE (which later liquidated RCA), Bob Wright served as chief executive officer of NBC, remaining in that position until his retirement in 2007, when he was succeeded by Jeff Zucker. In 2003, French media company Vivendi merged its entertainment assets with GE, forming NBC Universal. Comcast purchased a controlling interest in the company in 2011, and acquired General Electric's remaining stake in 2013. Following the Comcast merger, Zucker left NBC Universal and was replaced as CEO by Comcast executive Steve Burke.

UNT Libraries house the complete news archive of NBC 5/KXAS (formerly WBAP), the oldest television news station in Texas. The archive contains historic broadcast footage, scripts, advertisements, still photography and research files dating from 1950 through 2012. Film and video in the archive remain in its original physical format, such as 16mm film and obsolete video formats such as UMATIC tape, making it difficult to view and preserve. Although much of the footage in the archive has not been seen since its original air date, a small pilot project has been completed to provide digital access to this historic collection. This small sample, which includes news footage and scripts from a five week period in 1956, is representative of the rich, historical content found in the NBC 5/KXAS Arch...

Rep. Louie Gohmert (TX-01) talked to Deborah Ferguson, co-anchor for NBC 5 Today (Dallas-Fort Worth), this morning. He discussed the vote on healthcare that is set to take place today and his reasoning for firmly fighting for full repeal. He commented on the pressure in the House to pass this bill and noted on the program, “I know what we promised, and I know that we have got to do better for the people in America that put their faith in us.”
Here's a promo for NBC during their "Come Home to the Best" campaign which aired in the late 80's - personalized for Chicago. This is something I've been dying to find ever since hearing the audio for this promo at tvpmm.com. The O&O; flagship affiliates of major networks usually had the campaigns personalized for their area. Even though the New York City, Los Angeles, District of Columbia, and Spanish language videos of the promos were intact and viewable, the Chicago version was deemed lost and only the audio was available - until now. The non personalized promo for all the NBC affiliates can be seen here. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kxm1UeqqsQw I believed that since it was late 80's that the video should be floating around on some tape somewhere. This is another holy grail in m...
