Kode 0 revealed at Pebble Beach

Meet the world's newest supercar - and it's rarest.

It's called the Kode 0 and it's the creation of Ken Okuyama, the designer of iconic Ferrari Enzo, and it was unveiled over the weekend at the Monterey Car Week at Pebble Beach. And just a single example of the machine is set to be built.

Okuyama previously worked at aclaimed Italian design house Pininfarina, where he styled the Enzo, Maserati Quattroporte as well as the Ferrari Rossa and Maserati Birdcage 75th Anniversary concepts. But despite his Ferrari links the Japanese designer turned to Lamborghini for the foundation of his latest creation.

The Kode 0 is based on a Lamborghini Aventador but the body has been completely restyled by Okuyama. He has taken inspiration from the wedge-shaped Gandini designs of the 1970s, with a classic retro wedge shape.

The “one-motion” exterior design is created from carbon fibre, with the super-strong material left unpainted to emphasise the front wings and rear engine cover, creating a slashed division between the silver-painted body panels and the wedge-shaped cockpit.

Lamborghini’s trademark scissor lift doors remain, with the inner surfaces exposing Okumaya Green highlights that disappear from view with the doors closed. The same green finish also adorns the brake calipers, rear cooling fans, and interior highlights.

Beneath the svelte skin the Kode 0 rides on a carbon fibre monocoque chassis and is powered by the Aventador’s standard 515kW and 690Nm 6.5-litre naturally aspirated V12 engine.

Although the wild proportions make it look dramatically different to the car it’s based upon, the Kode 0 measures 145mm shorter, 95mm wider and just 1mm lower than a regular Aventador, and lighter too with a 1550kg weight but no estimates of potential performance.

The Kode 0 follows last year’s Kode 57, a Ferrari 599-based bespoke build unveiled at The Quail as part of Monterey Car Week in 2016.
