Dockers investigate alleged racial abuse of player by person in corporate box

The Fremantle Dockers are investigating allegations player Danyle Pearce was racially abused after Sunday's game against Richmond.

Pearce featured in every game last season for the Dockers but has played just seven games this season.

In a brief statement issued on Monday afternoon the Dockers said it was aware of an incident during which Pearce was allegedly racially abused.

"The club is aware of an incident after yesterday's game where Danyle Pearce was allegedly racially abused by a male person who was a guest in a corporate box purchased on a one-off basis for the match," the statement said.

"The AFL has been advised and the club is making further enquiries about the matter.

"We will be in a position to comment further when that process is completed."

Late on Monday night the Dockers added that the person concerned had 'contacted the club and offered to personally apologise to Danyle Pearce.'
