Taking a look at one of the most anticipated rifles of the year. This rifle is a great shooter.
I want to thank Savage Arms for providing this rifle for me to test and evaluate.
Note: MSRP is $465 on this rifle, not $400.
I know I didn't answer the question about different kinds of ammunition that can be used for this rifle. Here is my response:
The A17 CCI ammunition #949CC optimizes the functioning of the A17 Savage rifle and was designed specifically for performance in this firearm. But, yes you can shoot any other .17 HMR in it as well.

Savage Arms Introduces the A17 Semi-automatic Rifle in 17 HMR
The new A17 semi-auto rifle from Savage Arms is chambered for the 17 HMR cartridge and is currently available from distributors. MSRP is $465.
The A17, Stock Number 47001, has a delayed-blowback action, hard chrome bolt, case-hardened receiver, and 10-round detachable rotary magazine.
The AccuTrigger is also user-adjustable, and we’ve praised that functionality several times in Gun Tests magazine.
Weight for A17 is 5.4 pounds. Overall Length is 42 inches.
The button-rifled 22-inch carbon-steel barrel has a one-in-nine twist rate.
So why can’t that old autoloader you’ve got fire a modern rimfire cartridge like the 17 HMR? Here’s an explanation of how the new A17 action differs from a standard autoloading design.

Savage Arms
The Savage Arms Company is a firearms manufacturing company based in Westfield, Massachusetts, with a division located in Canada. The company makes a variety of rimfire and centerfire rifles, as well as marketing the Stevens single-shot rifles and shotguns. The company is best known for the Model 99 lever-action rifle, no longer in production, and the .300 Savage.
History
Savage Arms was founded in 1894 by Arthur Savage in Utica, New York. Within 20 years they were producing rifles, handguns, and ammunition. Savage introduced the first hammerless lever-action rifle, the Model 1895, derived from Arthur Savage's Model 1892 rifle that he had designed for Colt in a failed bid for a US Army rifle contract that instead was won by the Krag–Jørgensen design. The Model 1895 won a New York National Guard contract, but the contract was cancelled due to political controversy. The Model 1895 was developed into the even more successful Model 1899, later renamed Model 99, which remained in production until 1998.

This rifle uses a delayed blowback system similar in the operation of HK roller lock firearms.
