Monkeys and Buffalo and Barry, Oh My!

By: Mr. Wonderful

Thank you Barry Obama – thank you for proving beyond the shadow of a doubt that you’re a typical liberal willing to pander to the fascist notion of “political correctness.” At least you have got some things done.

After delivering a rousing speech on race that, for a minute even had me fooled, Barack Obama turns around and sacrifices free speech for the comforts of political correctness, and all in the name of race. Barry the “great American” decided to ask one of his delegates and supporters to step down after she was accused at making a “racist” comment. While the comment was laughable and the accusation of racism a stretch, to say the least, the implications this incident has to the future of the First Amendment in this country is nothing to laugh at. His actions, as well as the actions of others involved in this case illustrate how our right to free speech is being replaced with state-sponsored Political Correctness. A disturbing thought, indeed!

"We Need More White People"

That is what was heard at a Michelle Obama campaign event.

Via: The Tartan student newspaper: While the crowd was indeed diverse, some students at the event questioned the practices of Mrs. Obama’s event coordinators, who handpicked the crowd sitting behind Mrs. Obama. The Tartan’s correspondents observed one event coordinator say to another, “Get me more white people, we need more white people.” To an Asian girl sitting in the back row, one coordinator said, “We’re moving you, sorry. It’s going to look so pretty, though.”

“I didn’t know they would say, ‘We need a white person here,’ ” said attendee and senior psychology major Shayna Watson, who sat in the crowd behind Mrs. Obama. “I understood they would want a show of diversity, but to pick up people and to reseat them, I didn’t know it would be so outright.”

Politics as usual but I think that Jeralyn is right. If someone from Hillary's campaign demanded more black people, this would be covered 24/7 by the cable news and all over network news. All we'd hear about was how racist and manipulative the Clinton camp is.

What do you think?

This Is Not A Feminist Man Bashing

Allow me to preface this post by saying that I like men. In fact, I'll go so far as to say I love a very select few. I'm raising two boys to hopefully be great men someday. This is not a bashing of men.

However, I just read this piece by Glenn Sacks talking about how the media minimizes the contribution of men to their families. While I agree with much of what Mr. Sacks is saying I took great umbrage and yes I do mean GREAT UMBRAGE with a small section. In fact, this section:

This is a terribly unfair distortion because it disregards the fact that men are usually their families’ primary breadwinners, and often make great sacrifices in that role. Studies which account for the total amount of work that husbands and wives contribute to their households–including housework, child care, and employment–confirm that men contribute at least as much to their families as women do.

I have a problem with that. Shocked? Probably not. I have no doubt that many men and I'll even say an overwhelming majority of men probably do contribute, at least, as much to their families as women do. BUT the way that paragraph is written implies or generally states that all men do. Allow me to say this...THAT IS COMPLETE AND UTTER BULLSHIT!

Here are some people I know. We have a woman that is the Primary breadwinner and easily does more than her share of childcare and chores. Not to say that her spouse doesn't contribute. He definitely does but it is not equal and HE does way more household chores and childcare than any other husband/father I've ever personally witnessed.

Then we have the stay at home mom and breadwinner dad. Dad does help with some cooking, some chores and does the "man stuff" but since he's the worker and she the home person; it shouldn't be and isn't equal on the homefront.

Third we have another mom/dad team, who, probably earn even money. They split the chores and childcare. Even Steven.

Last but certainly not least, we had stay at home mom and worker dad. Mom did EVERYTHING on the homefront except sometimes worker dad took out the trash. Plus, many periods existed where homemom had to also work full-time. This did not alleviate her homechores it only lightened a little bit of "childcare". "Childcare" was picked up by out-of-workdad. Out-of-workdad didn't do chores, nope, Overworked-Mom just had to do the chores upon returning home and fix any fuck ups that occurred in her absence. A part-time job could have been made from that alone.

That is my experience. So, you can say that I find the generalizations about men to be crap. Lots of men do lots of great things. Some go above and beyond. But some are lazy pieces of shit and they should not be allowed to sit under the blanket Mr. Sacks so generously weaved for them.

Age of Consent and Abortion

Yesterday's post got us all talking about age of consent and abortion. This is a really sticky issue because abortion causes such visceral reactions in people. Parental notification laws always bring out the same extreme arguments. What if the 12 year old is pregnant by her own father? Or she was raped, etc...

Yes, extreme situations occur. But that in no way means the law needs to be written in a way that takes away the rights of responsible parents and flushes them down the toilet. There should be consistency in the law. If a child is mature enough to make the decision to terminate her pregnancy; then why is she not old enough to consent to sex in the first place?

How many boys under age 18 have been labeled sex offenders and now have lifetime records for having consensual sex with these MINORS? Let's remember that so many of you think they are mature enough to consent to a life changing medical procedure but not to the sex that got them pregnant, in the first place.

We as parents are responsible for making decisions that we deem to be in the best interest of our children, until our children reach the age society determined was adulthood. Yes, some parents will force their daughter to birth a child, others will force their daughter to have an abortion. This is a horrible situation and it is compounded by bad laws and people with agendas. There should always be small loopholes for extreme situations but the overwhelming majority of these situations aren't extreme. Parents have every right to decide what is best for their child, honestly, who knows that child better? You?

A Failure of Leadership...

John McCain bitch slaps the Democrats.

"I do not believe that anyone should make promises as a candidate for president that they cannot keep if elected," he said. "To promise a withdrawal of our forces from Iraq, regardless of the calamitous consequences to the Iraqi people, our most vital interests and the future of the Middle East, is the height of irresponsibility" and "a failure of leadership."

No, duh...

That's what I'm talking about. No experience = bad decisions. I've had enough of that. I want more than just platitudes about hope from the next President. Is it really too much to ask that people tell you exactly what they plan to do? Is it too much that they tell you the truth? I'm sick to death of being sold a pretty package full of nothing.

John McCain may not be young or pretty but I know that he means what he says. Despite the fact that I don't agree with him more than 60% of the time, at least that 60% is solid.

Will We Ever Have A Candidate...

That isn't afraid to say that allowing gays to marry is fine. Even Sir "Hope and Change" can't mange to be in favor of full marital rights for same sex couples. It's always the same civil union canard.

If you are fine with 14 year olds having abortions without parental consent; how much worse do you think being pro-same sex marriage will be for you?

Seriously, in my mind, I find it offensive that people think that parental rights stop when their pet political issue is on the line. And while I understand that people have "issues" with same sex marriage, I don't give a rat's ass. Two loving adults want to make a commitment to each other, to spend their lives in a faithful union...I just don't understand how promoting family, fidelity and love is worse than underage abortions and gun bans.

I just don't get it.

Still in Love...

Bush and Putin aren't quite over. Dude, I thought they were so last year...

The personal chemistry between Bush and Putin has weathered severe rows between their two countries and was on display again as the U.S. leader held a farewell summit on the Black Sea a month before Putin steps down.

Speaking to reporters at Putin's vacation retreat, Bush said they worked to "find ways to be agreeable when we disagree".

"You're not afraid to tell me what's on your mind. And when it's all said and done, we can shake hands," Bush told Putin on Saturday.

Putin spoke warmly of "George".

"I always appreciated his superior human qualities: honesty, openness and ability to hear a partner," said Putin, standing beside the U.S. leader at a news conference after their meeting on Sunday. "This is worth a lot."

Awwww, isn't that sweet? They still have feelings for each other despite the very public break up they had a few years back... Personally, I'm not that forgiving. Don't get me wrong, I can be very forgiving but one thing will insure that I seek retribution. Airing my intimate/private business in public. Embarrass me publicly and you'll be looking for your testicles to the ends of the earth and you won't find them...because they will have already been digested by the first carnivore I bumped into.

Charleton Heston, R.I.P.

Charlton Heston died Saturday night at his home in Beverly Hills, Calif. He was 83.

He was one of my favorites. I loved Ben Hur, The 10 Commandments and The Planet of the Apes. When I'm feeling frisky, I quote Heston: “From my cold, dead hands!” that line works for so many things...

Mr. Heston was suffering from Alzheimer's and now his suffering has ended. No actor could overact the way Charleton Heston did, he will be missed.

A Public Service Message

Daily showers are not a health hazard. That myth was debunked long ago and they are generally recommended for public health and courtesy. If you can't manage it, try washing your tops and tails, eh?

While there has been talk of risks associated with use of anti-perspirants/deodorants, there is a bigger health risk associated with driving, drinking, drug use, being an asshole in public, saying inappropriate remarks in a room full of drunks, and eating poorly.

Please, for the love of humanity and those of us with oversensitive olfactory senses, use some. That green cloud that surrounds you isn't your awesome aura, it's your aroma and it reeks.

That is all...

That's Love

Woman credits hubby with rescue from croc:

Wendy Petherick said the reptile clamped its jaws down on her leg while she was in waist-deep water and attempted to pull her under, the Australian Broadcasting Corp. reported Thursday.

"For a croc that size, a two-meter (6.5 foot) croc, and being a little person I had to fight back," she said. "He would have dragged me, death rolled me and killed me. He just grabbed me by the leg, if he would have grabbed me up towards my stomach, I reckon I would have been dead."

She said the croc gave up on trying to make her into a snack after her husband, Norm Moreen, jumped on the beast and attacked its eyes. Petherick said she likely would have died without the rescue. "There's no time for fears you see, when you want to save someone, especially the one you love," Moreen said.

That story reminds me of my late and most beloved Buttons. Talk about love... I know it's weird but my dog saved my son's life and he did it out of love. I'm sure I told this story before but since I just had a flashback...you get one too!

Before my Dad died, he and my mom retired to their country house about 2 hours outside of Detroit. He retired because he wanted to chill, but we know that he loved his bongs. In fact, good quality water pipes and oil rigs were his sole interest! Anyway, we went out there for one of the holiday weekends, I'm pretty sure it was Labor Day weekend. Anyway, my dad used to make fun of Buttons because he was so sweet and not threatening in any way. He always called him stupid dog because one of his ears was always flopping down and it wasn't a very German Shepherd like trait. Dad said that Buttons always had a dumb look on his face.

The "L" Word

Obama is dismissive about being called a liberal.

When it comes to being labeled "a liberal," Barack Obama is dismissive. "Oh, he's liberal. He's liberal," he said recently in describing a characterization of him by Republicans. "Let me tell you something. There's nothing liberal about wanting to reduce money in politics. It's common sense. . . . There's nothing liberal about wanting to make sure that everybody has health care."

I'm Glad I'm Not A Buddhist

I went outside to put out some trash and get a breath of fresh air. So, I'm standing there and looking out at the grass when I feel something on my foot.

I don't know why but a chipmunk was sitting on my foot. Yep a cute little chipmunk and what did I do? I instinctively kicked out. The poor little sucker flew about 50 feet through the air and I have no idea where it landed.

I hope I didn't kill it...

This is not an April Fool's Joke. I wish it were - I can't stop picturing that poor little chipmunk. He wanted to be friends and I sent him to the moon. I know he was cursing my ass.

I'm glad I'm not a Buddhist...

Great Burger!

Chili's Jalepeno Smokehouse Bacon Cheeseburger

I ordered this sucker Sunday afternoon, when the family went to Chili's. It's really freakin' huge - the meat was almost an inch thick and it was charred a bit. I ate 1/4th of it there, actually not even the full 1/4th. It's so yummy. I finally finished it today. That was all I ate yesterday.

The only problem this burger had was the fact that it had a stupid tomato on it. I know I told her to hold the tomato - I hate them on my burgers. Yes, I HATE them. Just in case you weren't sure. Yes, I pulled it off but it left a tomato wetness behind...

Whatever.

I'm Curious

When did Socialism become a bad thing? What is wrong with the government running our lives? They know what is best for us? I want socialized medicine, I want higher taxes, I want to be told how to live.

I can't make these decisions for myself. I'd prefer if the government did it for me. They know what's best.

This Isn't Supposed to be Funny...But

Darth Vadar beats the sith out of a "Jedi Master"

Jedi Master Jonba Hehol - known to family and friends as Barney Jones, 36, of Holyhead - was giving a TV interview in his back garden for a documentary when a man, dressed in a black bin-bag and wearing Darth Vader's trademark shiny black helmet, leapt over his garden fence.

Wielding a metal crutch - his lightsaber presumably being in for repairs - the Sith Lord proceeded to lay about his opponent, whose Jedi powers proved inadequate for the task of defending himself.

After besting Master Hehol in single combat, Vader, who The Sun reports was under the influence of alcohol, went on to assault the camera crew and a hairdresser.

Master Hehol, a hairdresser, who founded the first-ever British Jedi Church in loving homage to the world-famous science fiction franchise with his brother Daniel, was unimpressed by the revenge of the Sith.

"This wasn't a joke. This was serious," he said.

Police are investigating a claim of assault.

Again, I know this was serious, really I do. Still... I. Can't. Stop. Laughing. Please click the link and look at the photo!
