National Domestic Violence Hotline 1-800-799-SAFE (7233) The National Domestic Violence Hotline creates access by providing 24-hour support through advocacy, safety planning, resources and hope to everyone affected by domestic violence.
The Soldier’s Project 1-877-576-5343 A group of licensed mental health professionals who offer free, confidential, psychological treatment to military service members (active, National Guard, reserves, and veterans) who have served or are expecting to serve in Iraq or Afghanistan.
National Suicide Prevention Lifeline 1-800-278-8255 A 24-hour, toll-free, confidential suicide prevention hotline available to anyone in suicidal crisis or emotional distress. For veteran-specific services, Press 1 or go to their veteran’s page.
Therapist Finder Returning soldiers can find free counseling for themselves and their families.
RAINN: Rape, Abuse, and Incest National Network 1-800-656-HOPE (4673) 24/7 services for victims of sexual assault and domestic violence. You can contact via phone or the internet hotline.
Legal:
National Organization of Veteran’s Advocates Provides legal assistance for veterans regarding their VA claims.
GI Rights Hotline 1-877-447-4487 Network of over 20 organizations providing servicemembers and veterans non-directive counseling on discharges, military regulations, discrimination, sexual assault and harassment complaint procedures, filing grievances, political activity and similar issues.
Servicemembers Legal Defense Network 202-328-3244 Servicemembers Legal Defense Network is a non-partisan, non-profit, legal services, watchdog and policy organization dedicated to ending discrimination against and harassment of military personnel affected by “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” (DADT). They work to end DADT, to ensure parity for LGBT service members, and to provide free, confidential legal services to all those impacted by DADT and related discrimination.
