Gay

Gay is a term that primarily refers to a homosexual person or the trait of being homosexual. The term was originally used to refer to feelings of being "carefree", "happy", or "bright and showy".

The term's use as a reference to homosexuality may date as early as the late 19th century, but its use gradually increased in the 20th century. In modern English, gay has come to be used as an adjective, and as a noun, referring to the people, especially to gay males, and the practices and cultures associated with homosexuality. By the end of the 20th century, the word gay was recommended by major LGBT groups and style guides to describe people attracted to members of the same sex.

At about the same time, a new, pejorative use became prevalent in some parts of the world. In the Anglosphere, this connotation, among younger speakers, has a meaning ranging from derision (e.g., equivalent to rubbish or stupid) to a light-hearted mockery or ridicule (e.g., equivalent to weak, unmanly, or lame). In this use, the word rarely means "homosexual", as it is often used, for example, to refer to an inanimate object or abstract concept of which one disapproves. The extent to which these usages still retain connotations of homosexuality has been debated and harshly criticized.

Matt Bomer

Matthew Staton "Matt" Bomer (born October 11, 1977) is an American actor. He made his television debut with Guiding Light in 2001, and gained recognition with his recurring role in the NBC television series Chuck as Bryce Larkin. He played the lead role of a con-artist in the USA Network series White Collar from 2009 to 2014. Bomer won a Golden Globe Award and received a Primetime Emmy Award nomination for his supporting role as Felix Turner in the HBO television film The Normal Heart (2014).

Bomer featured in supporting roles in such films as the 2005 thriller Flightplan, the 2011 science fiction thriller In Time, the 2012 comedy-drama Magic Mike and the 2014 supernatural-drama Winter's Tale. He starred in the Dustin Lance Black play 8 on Broadway and at the Wilshire Ebell Theatre as Jeff Zarrillo, a plaintiff in the federal case that overturned California's Proposition 8. Bomer is married to the publicist Simon Halls with whom he has three children.

Early life

Bomer was born in Webster Groves, Greater St. Louis, Missouri, one of three children born to Elizabeth Macy (née Staton) and John O'Neill Bomer IV, a Dallas Cowboys draft pick. He grew up in Spring, Texas, a suburb of Houston, where he attended Klein High School; a classmate was future actor Lee Pace. Pace and Bomer both acted at Houston's Alley Theatre, a non-profit theatre company. In 2001, he graduated from Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree.

The After Show

The After Show is the blanket title for several talk shows currently or previously aired by MTV originally connected to reality series it airs such as Laguna Beach and The Hills. Essentially an extension of the channel's flagship program MTV Live, the typical After Show features two of the former MTV Live hosts, most recently Jessi Cruickshank and Dan Levy, discussing the program immediately preceding with input from studio audience members, callers, emailers, and webcam participants. Many stars of The Hills, such as Lauren Conrad, Heidi Montag, and Holly Montag have appeared in person on the show, while several others have participated in live phone or video interviews.

The most recent format of the show included a discussion of entertainment news, fashion, and pop culture. While episodes following shows like The Hills primarily presented a discussion of that particular program, episodes airing after no program in particular often discussed more varied aspects of popular culture.
