Hollywood Forever Cemetery, originally named Hollywood Memorial Cemetery, is one of the oldest cemeteries in Los Angeles, California. It is located at 6000 Santa Monica Boulevard in the Hollywood district of Los Angeles. Paramount Studios is located at the south end of the same block on 40 acres which used to be part of the cemetery (but in which no interments were made).
Those in the graves, crypts, niches and sarcophagi at the cemetery include culturally significant people as well as celebrities, including legendary actors, directors, writers, etc. from the entertainment industry. People who played vital roles in shaping Los Angeles are throughout the property. The cemetery is active and regularly hosts community events, including music and summer movie screenings. In 2011, the cemetery acted as co-production company for the American silent movie Silent Life based on the story of the Hollywood idol Rudolph Valentino, who is famously entombed there in a borrowed crypt.
Hollywood (/ˈhɒliwʊd/ HOL-ee-wuud) is a neighborhood in the central region of Los Angeles, California. The neighborhood is notable for its place as the home of the U.S. film industry, including several of its historic studios. Its name has come to be a metonym for the motion picture industry of the United States. Hollywood is also a highly ethnically diverse, densely populated, economically diverse neighborhood and retail business district.
Hollywood was a small community in 1870 and was incorporated as a municipality in 1903. It officially merged with the city of Los Angeles in 1910, and soon thereafter a prominent film industry began to emerge, eventually becoming the most recognizable film industry in the world.
In 1853, one adobe hut stood in Nopalera (Nopal field), named for the Mexican Nopal cactus indigenous to the area. By 1870, an agricultural community flourished. The area was known as the Cahuenga Valley, after the pass in the Santa Monica Mountains immediately to the north.
Forever or 4ever may refer to:
A cemetery or graveyard is a place where the remains of deceased people are buried or otherwise interred. The word cemetery (from Greek κοιμητήριον, "sleeping place") implies that the land is specifically designated as a burial ground. The older term graveyard is often used interchangeably with cemetery, but primarily referred to a burial ground within a churchyard.
The intact or cremated remains of people may be interred in a grave, commonly referred to as burial, or in a tomb, an "above-ground grave" (resembling a sarcophagus), a mausoleum, columbarium, niche, or other edifice. In Western cultures, funeral ceremonies are often observed in cemeteries. These ceremonies or rites of passage differ according to cultural practices and religious beliefs. Modern cemeteries often include crematoria, and some grounds previously used for both, continue as crematoria as a principal use long after the interment areas have been filled.
The Oxford English Dictionary defines a cemetery as a "burial-ground generally; now esp. a large public park or ground laid out expressly for the interment of the dead, and not being the ‘yard’ of any church. (Cemetery c)" and specifies that the term "...originally applied to the Roman underground cemeteries or catacombs " Cemeteries are normally distinct from churchyards, which are typically consecrated according to one denomination and are attached directly to a single place of worship.
Joshua Michael Tillman (born May 3, 1981), also known as J. Tillman or Father John Misty, is an American singer, songwriter, guitarist and drummer. Tillman grew up in an Evangelical Christian household in Rockville, Maryland, a suburb of Washington, D.C. The oldest of four children, he has a brother and two sisters. His father was an engineer at Hewlett-Packard. Before Tillman settled on a career as a musician, he briefly had ambitions of becoming a pastor because of the performance aspect when he was approximately six years old. He comments that his parents focused on the spiritual aspects of his upbringing, which he describes as "culturally oppressive". They were estranged for many years, but have since resumed contact. After learning drums at a young age, Tillman learned guitar when he was 12.

Schaeffer **** Frank and I planned a tour of this cemetery for a few weeks and different schedule conflicts almost caused cancellation of the shoot at the last minute. Fortunately, we were successful at overcoming these obstacles and shot some fun video. Frank was the driver and tour guide and his research was invaluable to the successful conclusion of this mission. We STILL have part 2 to edit and upload and I forget WHAT THAT now includes....? A fun day was had by all. Oh yes.. The BIG Romanesque monument belongs to Douglas Fairbanks Sr. and Jr. and we find out that fact in part 2... William Schaeffer July 13, 2016 ***

DeMille, Jayne Mansfield, Fay Wray, Hattie McDaniel, Mel Blanc, Douglas Fairbanks Sr., Douglas Fairbanks Jr., Tony Scott, and Griffith Park founder Griffith J. Griffith
This is a short video about my visit to the Hollywood Forever Cemetery in Hollywood, California. There are some famous people buried here. This video is made in their memory. May they all rest in peace. Note: I was not able to take photos of all of the famous graves at Hollywood Forever Cemetery due to time constraints. UPDATE: Also, some have made note that the music is for weddings. I chose it because I thought it worked beautifully in "Ordinary People" (1980) and no other reason than that. This is not a funeral video, but a tribute to those that entertained us and shall never be forgotten.
Music's elite and celebrities remembered Chris Cornell at a somber memorial service Friday at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery that focused on the Soundgarden frontman's love of family and friends as much as it did on his musical achievements as one of rock's leading voices. Jeff Nguyen reports.

Originally streamed live on the Seven Factor Facebook page this episode of Seven Factors Paranormal Adventures take us to the Hollywood Forever Cemetery in Hollywood California. As the final resting spot of luminaries like Alfred Hitchcock and Dee Dee Ramone, it’s no wonder that this graveyard is one of the most haunted places to visit in Los Angeles. There are numerous ghosts here, from a weeping woman who appears by a lake (it’s said that she is the spirit of Virginia Rappe), to groups of people dressed in period clothing. The identity of these people are unknown. They’re not movie stars. Could they be cemetery visitors from yesteryear, reenacting the rituals of their old lives? Whoever they are, they’re ephemeral. Graveyard staff reports seeing them walk through walls.

A twenty-minute visit to the world's most famous cemetery, Père Lachaise Cemetery in Paris, France. More than a million people have been buried at Père Lachaise, and its tombs are among the most artistic and varied that you'll find anywhere. It's also a quiet, pleasant place for a stroll or a rest—if you don't mind being surrounded by dead bodies. This video shows how to reach the cemetery, and shows examples of some of the many varied tombs within. It also shows a random handful of "celebrity" tombs, and a selection of memorial monuments. It's not an inventory of famous dead people or funereal art, just a sampler of what you can see at the cemetery—enough to show why it is such a popular tourist destination. I've included some very simple narration in the closed captions, but it's not...
You were there
down by the water on that ambush night
when all the 'CRASS' punks
refused to fight
Instead too many tithed into the shooting star
trading their lives in for the glamour of tar
When I found out all my heroes are just parasites
where are the good people
compromised by the road we have to follow
Get Out Get Out Get Out
and get away
there's no one left who can make you stay
the city's making money barricading the view
polluting our homes
and suffocating you
I found out all my heroes are just parasites
where are the good people
compromised by the war we call survival
If you don't do it
who fucking will?
I found out all my heroes are just parasites
where are the good people
compromised by the road we have to follow
I found out all my heroes are just parasites
we are the good people
compromised by the war we call survival
survival
hey hey hey
survival
hey hey hey
survival
hey hey hey
fuck
