Die Anfänge des Christentums, eine jüdische Sekte wird Weltreligion: Palästina zur Zeitenwende. Ein jüdischer Wanderprediger namens Jesus macht von sich reden. Er spricht von einem menschenfreundlichen Gott, lehrt die Umwertung aller Werte und verkündet das nahe Gottesreich. Einige Zeitgenossen lassen alles stehen und liegen und folgen ihm. Vielleicht ist er es ja, auf den sie seit langem warten, der Messias, der ‚Gesalbte des Herrn‘, der das geknechtete Israel wieder aufrichten werde. Die Führungsschicht Jerusalems sieht das anders. Für sie ist Jesus ein Aufrührer und Gotteslästerer. In einem Schauprozess fordert sie seine Verurteilung. Die römische Besatzungsmacht lässt ihn kreuzigen. Aber das Ende ist der Anfang. Die Jünger glauben an seine Auferstehung. Aus dem jüdischen Lehrer Jesus wird für sie ein theologisch gedeuteter Christus. In enger Gemeinschaft bleiben sie zusammen. Geleitet durch die Apostel, löst sich die Jesusbewegung aus dem damaligen Judentum und breitet sich in Kleinasien aus. Ein Pharisäer namens Saulus wandelt sich vom Gegner zum glühenden Verfechter der ‚frohen Botschaft‘ von der Auferstehung. In drei großen Missionsreisen trägt er sie weit ins Römische Reich. Unter Kaiser Nero kommt es in Rom zu einer blutigen Verfolgung. Nach einem jüdischen Aufstand zerstören römische Legionen Jerusalem und den Tempel. Das Judentum zerstreut sich in der damaligen Welt, aber der uralte Baum hat zwei junge Triebe hervorgebracht: das rabbinische Judentum der Thora und – das Christentum.

Jesus (/ˈdʒiːzəs/; Greek: Ἰησοῦς Iesous; 7–2 BC to AD 30–33), also referred to as Jesus of Nazareth or Jesus Christ, is the central figure of Christianity, whom the teachings of most Christian denominations hold to be the Son of God. Christians believe Jesus is the awaited Messiah (or Christ, the Anointed One) of the Old Testament.
Virtually all modern scholars of antiquity agree that Jesus existed historically, and historians consider the Synoptic Gospels (Matthew, Mark and Luke) to be the best sources for investigating the historical Jesus. Most scholars agree that Jesus was a Galilean, Jewish rabbi who preached his message orally,was baptized by John the Baptist, and was crucified by the order of the Roman Prefect Pontius Pilate. In the current mainstream view, Jesus was an apocalyptic preacher and the founder of a renewal movement within Judaism, although some prominent scholars argue that he was not apocalyptic. After Jesus' death, his followers believed he was resurrected, and the community they formed eventually became the Christian church. The widely used calendar era, abbreviated as "AD" from the Latin "Anno Domini" ("in the year of our Lord") or sometimes as "CE", is based on the birth of Jesus. His birth is celebrated annually on December 25 as a holiday known as Christmas.

Antal Doráti
Antal Doráti, KBE (9 April 1906 – 13 November 1988) was a Hungarian-born conductor and composer who became a naturalized American citizen in 1943.
Biography
Antal Doráti was born in Budapest, where his father Alexander Doráti was a violinist with the Budapest Philharmonic Orchestra and his mother Margit Kunwald was a piano teacher.
He studied at the Franz Liszt Academy with Zoltán Kodály and Leo Weiner for composition and Béla Bartók for piano. His links with Bartók continued for many years: he conducted the world premiere of Bartók's Viola Concerto, as completed by Tibor Serly, with the Minneapolis Symphony Orchestra in 1949, with William Primrose as the soloist.
He made his conducting debut in 1924 with the Budapest Royal Opera.
As well as composing original works, he compiled and arranged pieces by Johann Strauss II for the ballet Graduation Ball (1940), premiered by the Original Ballet Russe in Sydney, Australia, with himself on the conductor's podium. For Ballet Theatre (later renamed American Ballet Theatre) he created scores for the ballets Bluebeard (1941) from music by Jacques Offenbach and The Fair at Sorochinsk (1943) from music by Modest Mussorgsky.

Vielleicht ist er es ja, auf den sie seit langem warten, der Messias, der ‚Gesalbte des Herrn‘, der das geknechtete Israel wieder aufrichten werde. Die Führungsschicht Jerusalems sieht das anders. Für sie ist Jesus ein Aufrührer und Gotteslästerer. In einem Schauprozess fordert sie seine Verurteilung. Die römische Besatzungsmacht lässt ihn kreuzigen. Aber das Ende ist der Anfang. Die Jünger glauben an seine Auferstehung. Aus dem jüdischen Lehrer Jesus wird für sie ein theologisch gedeuteter Christus. In enger Gemeinschaft bleiben sie zusammen. Geleitet durch die Apostel, löst sich die Jesusbewegung aus dem damaligen Judentum und breitet sich in Kleinasien aus. Ein Pharisäer namens Saulus wandelt sich vom Gegner zum glühenden Verfechter der ‚frohen Botschaft‘ von der Auferstehung. In drei großen Missionsreisen trägt er sie weit ins Römische Reich. Unter Kaiser Nero kommt es in Rom zu einer blutigen Verfolgung. Nach einem jüdischen Aufstand zerstören römische Legionen Jerusalem und den Tempel. Das Judentum zerstreut sich in der damaligen Welt, aber der uralte Baum hat zwei junge Triebe hervorgebracht: das rabbinische Judentum der Thora und – das Christentum. -

Vielleicht ist er es ja, auf den sie seit langem warten, der Messias, der ‚Gesalbte des Herrn‘, der das geknechtete Israel wieder aufrichten werde. Die Führungsschicht Jerusalems sieht das anders. Für sie ist Jesus ein Aufrührer und Gotteslästerer. In einem Schauprozess fordert sie seine Verurteilung. Die römische Besatzungsmacht lässt ihn kreuzigen. Aber das Ende ist der Anfang. Die Jünger glauben an seine Auferstehung. Aus dem jüdischen Lehrer Jesus wird für sie ein theologisch gedeuteter Christus. In enger Gemeinschaft bleiben sie zusammen. Please Note: At one point in his talk, Jim said, “You are all going to Heaven.” A critic might object, “What if there was someone in the audience who hates Christ and will never repent. So is Jim saying that he is going to Heaven too?” Of course such an unrepentant person who hates God chooses Hell with their free will (as Jim said in his talk, “God doesn’t send anyone to Hell, they choose that place”) and Jim’s statement cannot apply to them. So how are we to understand Jim’s sentence? First off, it is obvious from the context that Jim was addressing those among the audience who are of good will who desire to repent, live a virtuous life, and to take the necessary actions to reach Heaven. Furthermore, Jim expanded or qualified this statement later in his talk where he said that “God is asking for more conversion” and he reminded the audience that Heaven or Hell is a choice (on a related topic, he said that those in the production of the movie who were “fence-sitters” with regards to God who claimed they hadn’t made a choice were in reality making a choice by the mere fact that they were fence-sitting). A person chooses Heaven or Hell with their free will and manifests their choice by the way they lead their life and by their actions, words, thoughts, and prayers. One must want Heaven to reach there and to reach it requires effort just like anything worthwhile in the natural world. Our Lord told us in the Gospels that arriving at Heaven requires the person to receive sanctifying grace through baptism (which of course is ordinarily sacramental baptism by water, but in rare cases can include baptism of blood or authentic baptism of desire), repenting of their sins, and living a virtuous life where they preserve this grace. Hence, Jim’s statement must be understood with these qualifiers for his statement to be correct.

Jesus spoke of the need to know the Savior when He prayed, “This is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent” (John 17:3).
Many people have wondered if Jesus really loves them. The Bible is clear that no matter what we have done, Jesus does love us. In fact, He promises to both forgive us of every wrong we have done and provide us eternal life if only we will believe in Him: “For God so loved the world, that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16).
Romans 5:8 says, “God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Before we were even born, God sent His only Son Jesus to die on our behalf to give us the opportunity for eternal life. This amazing gift comes to us because of His wonderful grace toward us: “It is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast” (Ephesians 2:8–9). We don’t have to earn His love; we simply accept it.
It may be difficult to believe Jesus loves you because of other people who have let you down in the past. However, Jesus is unlike any other person; He is God in human form (John 1:14). He was involved in creating us, He sustains our every breath, and He offers us new life now and eternal life in heaven with Him.
Another reason it may be difficult to accept the truth that Jesus loves you is that something you have done in the past troubles you. Jesus already knows your past and still offers you eternal life and forgiveness. A wonderful example of His love can be found in His last hours on the cross. One of the men crucified next to Him was being put to death for his crimes. When people speak of “knowing” Jesus, they refer to having a relationship with Him. Being a Christian is more than knowing about Jesus; being a Christian is knowing Him personally. Jesus spoke of the need to know the Savior when He prayed, “This is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent” (John 17:3).
Many people have wondered if Jesus really loves them. The Bible is clear that no matter what we have done, Jesus does love us. In fact, He promises to both forgive us of every wrong we have done and provide us eternal life if only we will believe in Him: “For God so loved the world, that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16).
Romans 5:8 says, “God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Before we were even born, God sent His only Son Jesus to die on our behalf to give us the opportunity for eternal life. This amazing gift comes to us because of His wonderful grace toward us: “It is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast” (Ephesians 2:8–9). We don’t have to earn His love; we simply accept it.
It may be difficult to believe Jesus loves you because of other people who have let you down in the past. However, Jesus is unlike any other person; He is God in human form (John 1:14). He was involved in creating us, He sustains our every breath, and He offers us new life now and eternal life in heaven with Him.
Another reason it may be difficult to accept the truth that Jesus loves you is that something you have done in the past troubles you. Jesus already knows your past and still offers you eternal life and forgiveness. A wonderful example of His love can be found in His last hours on the cross. One of the men crucified next to Him was being put to death for his crimes.
