A six-year-old boy is one of three people who were killed in a horror head-on crash north of Perth on Thursday morning.
The crash happened at about 7.15am on Indian Ocean Drive in Breton Bay, about 125km north of Perth.
Two cars were involved in the crash, which happened near the intersection with Bennies Road.
An 83-year old man died in one of the cars involved and a 38-year-old woman and the six-year-old boy in the other.
St John Ambulance, fire-fighters and police rushed to the scene.
Major Crash Investigators are also at the scene trying to determine how the crash happened and delays are expected in the area.
Police have confirmed three people have died but have not released any further information.
There were renewed calls for upgrades to Indian Ocean Drive recently after a father was killed on the stretch of road over the WA Day long weekend.
That crash prompted MLA for Moore Shane Love to call for urgent action to improve the overtaking options on the highway.
Mr Love told 6PR radio the road had not been designed to properly accommodate the huge influx of traffic usually seen on long weekend periods.
"The [stretch] south of Lancelin has never really been upgraded to the extent needed to carry that level of traffic, in my view," he said at the time.
Indian Ocean Drive was initially constructed to offer a scenic coastal route for tourists, but has been the site of more than 50 serious crashes on the road in the past 18 months, and a number of fatalities since its opening in 2010.
The RAC Risky Roads 2016/17 survey named Indian Ocean Drive as the seventh most dangerous road in WA and said it "lacked overtaking opportunities... had tight curves and blind crests."
Road safety minister Michelle Roberts said there was "a number of issues" with that stretch of road and an expert group would look at common factor of crashes on Indian Ocean Drive.
"Today's crash will be fully and properly investigated," she said.
She also sent a message of sympathy to the family of the crash victims.
"My heart goes out to the people involved," she said.
Anyone with information regarding Thursday's crash is asked to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
