FRAMED Photography Exhibition

The official opening of FRAMED, A group exhibition by the Diploma of Photo Imaging students at CATC Design School On Monday the 21st August, FRAMED will launch to the public. All are welcome to attend this FREE event. Opening: 6-10pm Monday 21st August 2017 Venue: Space@Collins, Level 1, 278 Collins St, Melbourne Vic Exhibition duration: 21st - 26th August 2017 Gallery hours: Tuesday - Friday 11am - 5pm, Saturday 11am - 3pm Framed – Stories within a story Framed is a collection of diverse concepts and creativity, united by one thing – the camera. As different creators with varied visions of dreams and reality, the students come from different backgrounds and see things in a different light. “The camera is arguably one of the most important of all inventions… it is the single tool that has the ability to stop time, record history, generate art, tell stories and communicate messages that transcend language like nothing else ever conceived.” Jim Jannard (American designer and businessman) Using the single tool of the camera, the students have come together to create an incisive exhibition that unites their individuality and re-frames their stories. Their narratives begin with four central themes: the land, the portrait, the object, dreams & visions. Framed reflects their thought patterns within a range of verbal and visual languages and memories. From dark, emotional journeys to the lightness of being; from fear and wonder to inspirational identities; from stillness and form in landscape and architecture to isolated and lonely beauty; from batch processing to a girl’s dream. Industry partners the AIPP, michaels, Nulab and Oak Hill Gallery, are proud supporters of Framed, sponsoring best practice awards to be presented on opening night. ..................................................
