Justin Hemmes has added northern neaches pub The Collaroy Hotel to Merivale's growing portfolio.

The longtime local favourite joins Papi Chulo in Manly and The Newport on Merivale's list of venues north of The Bridge.

"The Collaroy is in a truly spectacular location, with sweeping views of the ocean and sand literally at its door step," said Hemmes in a statement. "This is a really exciting addition to the group, and one that will beautifully complement what we're creating at The Newport".

The Merivale CEO is tight-lipped on the hospitality group's plans for the hotel. The Collaroy already had a major nautical-themed makeover in 2014, and Good Food suspects it will be several months before Hemmes cracks open a new tin of paint for the Pittwater Road pub.

The Newport, which launched the first phase of its redevelopment in 2016, is set to open an indoor restaurant and bar this summer. Coogee Pavilion executive chef Jordan Toft will be leading the kitchen.
